The Triumph Bobber | Even More Special Than I Imagined!

  • With thanks to Tenerife on Triumph motorcycle rentals ( www.tenerifeontriumph.com ) for lending me the Bobber! Prices are €140 a day, or €120 a day if booking for three days plus.
    The day finally came- I had the chance to test out the Triumph Bobber!
    I had a few hours to decide what’d be my pick between the Triumph Bobber and the Indian Scout Bobber, and also the Triumph Speedmaster .
    And how would this heavy, modern classic bobber, with low ground clearance handle, and would it actually be fun!
    I hope you enjoy it!

    I really like the bobber, I am planning to test ride one.
    However, I have sat on one and felt that it might be a bit small for me, felt a little cramped.
    I could spend all day at a dealership and test ride everything, I'm sure it would really annoying the employees

    • @andrewkay114
      @andrewkay114 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know exactly what you mean, I sat on a Bobber for the first time a couple of weeks ago and found it very cramped but it didn't have the forward foot controls which do make a world of difference 👍

    • @ElliotDooleysmith
      @ElliotDooleysmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@andrewkay114 that is true about the forward controls. I don't recall if the one I sat on had forward controls or not, thinking probably not.

    • @FreddieDobbs
      @FreddieDobbs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Very good points! Adam (the owner) put on ape bars and forward foot controls specifically to make the bike less cramped and I promise you it absolutely transforms the feeling of size on the bike. For me at 6’1, it feels perfect- the first thing I’d do if I bought one is apes and forward foot controls. I know apes are polarising, but I do love them and they give you much more space🙂👌🏻

    • @ElliotDooleysmith
      @ElliotDooleysmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FreddieDobbs yes agreed.
      I can imagine with the Apes & forward controls it really makes a difference.
      And for this bike they both look so damn good, this type of bike is exactly where those mods are at home.
      I'm a fan of the aesthetic of apes, been considering them for my Harley, however, as it's my own mode of transport I'm not sure I'd want that for long journeys all the time.
      I would imagine your arms must ache after awhile?
      At 6'2" myself I do value your insights on these matters 👍

    I'm a Scout Bobber owner, and I've been binge watching your videos. I absolutely love your enthusiasm and joy and excitment for the bikes you show. My favorite Triumph Bobbers are the ones prepared by Thornton Hundred, they are out of this world and TBH if the Scout Bobber didn't exist I would already be on one of these.
    Thank you and Monica for all this content you guys make, your sheer excitment is contagious and I also love the fact that you include clothes styling & lifestyle into your videos.

    Another excellent video, Freddie and Monica!
    The Triumph Bobber is the bobber to get in my opinion, although I am going for the Speedmaster to have the two-up riding option, as well as the super-comfy seat!
    Freddie, watching your final thoughts on the Bobber, I was out-of-this-world impressed with the fact that you did that all in one take! While watching you, I kept thinking, ‘Freddie is a consummate pro!’ Literally all those thoughts conveyed brilliantly all at once. Incredible!
    Also, you are spot-on about those of us looking at the new modern classics, quite the nitpicky lot indeed! Along those lines, twice in the video you commented on looking for a fit-and-finish squabble that you may have and could not find one, and I agree that the fit and finish on these new Tiumphs are superb. But I was reminded of your comment you made in your Speedmaster review video, and it was the only one squabble: the rear signal design was plastic instead of metal. And I agree 100% with that critique; it would really make a difference if it were metal like the front and rear mudguards. That’s a small critique, but I am one of those nitpicky ones. :-)
    Brilliant as always. Cheers!

    The way you describe this motorcycle makes it abundantly clear that you have a profound appreciation for beauty. The result of well executed fine craftsmanship is often more beautiful than most modern “art.” It is rare indeed that a thing can be beautiful, cool, and functional. The Bonnie bobber is obviously all three of these things.

    Another great video, Freddie. This is the only moto content my wife will even watch, let alone enjoy. I test rode the Bobber Black before settling on my T120 Black, but I had the same initial impression of the Bobber you did. The handling was surprisingly good, especially in the corners. Probably good to note that this was a Bobber Black and not the regular Bobber. While some of the differences are cosmetic, the front wheel and tire are a different size, which definitely improves the handling for the Black. And the Black has two front disc brakes compared to one for the standard. At 5’8”, the apes would be a bit tall for me, but Motone makes a nice 1” up and 1” back riser, which would probably do the trick for me.

    • @mowgli6345
      @mowgli6345 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The price point? A bobber is supposed to be a cheap bare bones parts bin bike that anyone can build by taking popular old models and removing everything until only the essentials are left. Most bobbers aren't even supposed to have a rear suspension or mud guards.
      Triumph basically just imitated the look, added modern technology, and charged 15k for it.
      This is overpriced hipster garbage. You're literally paying for something that LOOKS like a bobber.

    I ride a 2018 Triumph Speedmaster and would have a Bobber in a heartbeat.... nothing to choose between them. And you are right, scraping your pegs does take a bit of getting used to, but never a biggie - if you remember the peg bends up on a spring and you are not going to dig into the ground and be fired off the bike. But do back off a bit - as that is what the lean angle indicator is there for.

      It really is a proper showing-off kind of bike😆
      I LOVED that Triumph promo too!
      And I’d probably be with you on the gloss black too👌🏻👌🏻

    Another great video. The BMW looked nice, better than the new ones! That pillion seat would go well on the Bobber.😎

    Imagine how happy I am, yesterday Algeria won the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 !
    I woke up and got your video notification, what else :) even though I don't like bobbers. No sit for Monica, so forget about it :)
    Cheers from Algiers.

    Freddie, I come back to this review every few months coz the bobber is my dream bike. However, with a toddler in the house and hopes for a second one day soon I can’t justify the cost at the moment but one day, it will be mine. That being said, I’ve tried desperately to get one for a test ride but there are none anywhere! Can’t even find them to hire!

    Being a bit long legged, I got a 2020 Bobber Black with the optional floorboards as a 70th birthday present for myself. The floorboards seem to make it as near a perfect riding position as I could ask for.

    Hi Freddie yes less is more the simplicity of the speedo clocks the front light the small refinements . One great Style of the hole bike you can have all the power in the world but one thing gives you that jenesequa is that feeling inside your home on the bike you just want to ride with miles of smiles . :) . Great review mate! There's some serious badassery mixing a pommie accent with ape bars.

    My neighbor has that exact same bike, a 2019 Triumph Bobber in all black, but with standard bars.
    He parks it next to my V-max in our underground garage. and regularly scrapes the pegs as he makes the 90 degree righthand turn up the garage ramp.
    At a height of 170cm (5ft 7), he says the seat height is just perfect for him.
    He says the only drawback is that the servicing costs are incredibly high here in Korea.

    Lol. Good video. A buddy and I used to see who could run the front pegs down to the point of needing replacement. Shiny side up
