@graff90 Scorpions are ambush predators, they lay with their claws barely out of the burrow waiting for their prey to walk right into its claws. They leave their hide once in a while at night to explore, drink or go to the restroom. They also use their burrow to regulate their body’s temperature. Don't worry, if it spends most of its time hiding then it generally means it's happy.
I live in Thailand and see them often on the roads after heavy rain. I get the babies in my house.. but my dog spots them and barks.. so I catch them with a class and paper and put them outside.
Nice video. I moved to Cambodia a few years ago and we see a lot of these guys in the rainy season (I've caught three in the last three days). They do make awesome pets and watching them take on a local (thumb sized) cockroach is better than TV (spoiler: The cockroach always loses).
Don't worry, they can stop eating for months at a time. It might be because the humidity isn't high enough. The humidity should be around 80% and the temperature 80-90 ºF (27-32 ºC). How old is your scorpion? If it's an adult, it might drink from a shallow, wide water dish. Sometimes they get lazy and want you to feed them crickets with tweezers :P I hope your scorpion starts eating soon! You think so? Thanks :) I actually like setting up enclosures haha
+Sarabell Sakura That's why we should always get in the habit of buying captive born babies. If you bought em as adults, chances are they could be wild caught. Most adults sold from private dealers especially from your local petshops are all 100% Wild Caught. You can tell just by looking at their exoskeleton, most specimens still have some tell tale signs of mud stains still stuck on their exoskeleton confirming they are in fact wild caught. Pros of owning wild caught; If you're lucky to get an adult female, there is 50-50 chance she could be pre-mated from a male in the wild and you might get some captive born babies from her. Cons on the other hand of owning wild caught adults; You cannot tell how old your scorpion is since you haven't documented its molting stages yourself on record. I sure hope your scorpion isn't way too old..
dont stress feeding inverts, many can go months and even years without eating. even if they dont like some aspects of their enclosure they will feel hungry enough to start eating at some point.
@MrAkihiros Actually, I think it kinda depends on each scorpion because, like you've probably noticed, I have two H. longimanus and I only dare to handle one of them... The other one is very aggressive! Anyway I've seen many people handling H. longimanus like they would handle the more docile P. imperator.
@CarlosTheHerper Is it advisable to handle your pet longimanus? I have a small one and they could be very nervous and aggressive. In one night it ate two! crickets. Incidentally that's a real beauty the one you're handling.
@5ams0n Sorry for the late response... I feed them 3 or 4 crickets per week. I've been told that it isn't advisable to put them both in the same enclosure but I still think that if the enclosure is large enough there isn't going to be a problem.
Are your scorpions also Heterometrus? I think that two Heterometrus can get along just fine, I keep my two scorpions together and I have never had a problem with them fighting. However, I don't recommend you to have any more than three scorpions in one enclosure.
@CarlosTheHerper Is it advisable to handle your pet longimanus? I have a small one and they could be very nervous and aggressive. In one night it ate two! crickets.
emperors are best for someone with no invertebrate experience, but asian forests are probably the second best as they are not much more aggressive and have very mild venom.
@elguille010 hehe Cool name! Actually, this species is quite agressive. More than the Emperor Scorpion. I don't recommend you to handle them too often, only when it's necessary. Otherwise they could get stressed. Anyway, when I want to handle mine, I just lay my hand in front of him and let him crawl on it. They don't like to be picked up with their tail. They have a mild sting, but they can pinch with their claws which are big enough to make us bleed.
I have one and put it into a 8 gallon tank with substrates, vines, hideouts, live plants dead wood (the place is perfect) but it wont eat.. I got it about 1+month ago.. I only seen it eating a cricket once. I tried cockroaches, grasshoppers, crickets, beetle larvae and it still wont eat.. Any advice?
hey man.. i realy need help with my longi.. he's still small.. i dont know exactly about the age and sex.. but does the sting paralize? a friend of mine told me that if they have stung me,.. i would cause my stung arm to be numb or even paralize me.. i also needed help about sexing them.. i really look forward for an answer.. thanks man
Yup. There are species that can put in colonies. Just make sure the tank is big enough, they have enough prey, and that there are at least one hide per scorpion. Usually, you don't want more than three in a tank. And to limit cannibalism, try to have tank mates that are thebsane size
I've just got 2 baby Asian forest scorpions, i have them in a little tank with a divide but could i remove it and have them living together? I heard that you can but it isn't advised :/
if you keep an eye on them the first few weeks and they are fine, then go ahead but sometimes they might fight and you will have to keep them divided. it just depends on their personalities.
Use a pencil, brush, ruler etc.. and wave it in front of him or gently poke or touch. The little guy will back up facing the object with claws open and stingers raised high. Just put your other hand behind him and continue pushing him back until he backs up on your palm and presto!!
+Haikal Ghazi They're venomous. Poison is ingested, venom is injected. Their venom is mild. Local redness, and swelling. If you're allergic, it can be MUCH worse.
Hi.... I love your videos..!!.. Can you tell me how long it will be before my Asian forest scorpion sheds his first skin..??.. He's around 2 inches long at the moment..!!.. Any ideas..??
Excuse me I got a nice Asian forest scorpion but I wanna know about the poison, somebody can explain for me.? Because i wanna see my scorpion walking on my hand
Generally the larger the pincers on a scorpion the less venomous it is, thinking about it, a scorpion with very strong and powerful venom wouldn't need powerful pincers to hold down struggling prey for a long time, since the poison will kill their prey quickly, whereas a scorpion with large pincers need to overpower struggling prey, whilst sometimes waiting for their less potent venom to set in, most times it will just crush its victim.
While they look similar, Asian's have less venom but tend to be more aggressive. An emperor is usually people's first scorpion. It's slightly more venomous, but it more docile than the Black Asian.
So my question is...one of mine has grown, but the other has not, is it because she's a female? Yes the bigger one is the male, according to what i've read. I looked at the bottom "angel wings" as they were described.
The Eco earth ground as their bedding helps maintain the humidity these guys need to survive. Mix that with a heating pad, and his water dish, and it isn't as hard as it seems :)
The Asian forest scorpion will make a good scorpion for a beginner but your best bet is an emperor scorpion as they are less aggressive and have a less of a chance of stinging you. But it is extremely hard to find a real emperor scorpion nowadays they're usually read claw scorpions or asian forest scorpions being advertised as emperor scorpions.
guys help naman, i have 2 spinifers and they are on 4i na, i fed then 2x week, i think my female is gravid na. ok lng b na i handle or pick them up by tail?
My 6th instar female was killed by ants a few months ago. They're cheap here in the Philippines but her death hurt me more than when my GBB got swarmed also by ants.
man i have a question for you, i bought one last week and he is a son of a bitc* how can i handle him? he gets really angry and it scared me..... his name is maximus decimus meridius i call him max ...
Ano naman tingin mo sakin noob?? Hindi ako nagamit ng soil.. cocopeat ang substrate na gamit ko at kung ikaw soil ang gamit mo eh good luck na lang sayo.

Very cool little beasts. Also like the added forest sounds instead of music.

i find your video is very soothing.. chirping birds as background and that guitar, thanks for uploading this.
I have one too. They look very similar to emperor scorpions
+Big Slimm whats your feeding schedule
+bangasou12 o feeding schedule. Just a couple of crickets at night. They don't have to be fed every day either.
I live in Thailand and see them often on the roads after heavy rain. I get the babies in my house.. but my dog spots them and barks.. so I catch them with a class and paper and put them outside.

My Asian forest scorpion hasn't eaten once since I got her, ive had her for about 4 months..
(I love your setup by the way its lovely)

wow you're so good handling that scorpion...😉
That's the great thing about scorpions, they found a way to have their kids and eat them too.

some people have had success with communities, and it seems like you are one of them.

Nice vid bro
what the dif about this one and the Heterometrus longimanus and Heterometrus petersii ?
thiy are full of energy..mine is kinda lazy..he move slowly..is that normal? i feed him once a week
Would you recommend this species as a starter for someone who's new to scorpions? I think this species would be quite lovely.
emperors are best for someone with no invertebrate experience, but asian forests are probably the second best as they are not much more aggressive and have very mild venom.
Thanks! :)
@KawaiiKemonomimi Thank you ;)
@LUGNUT1995 Thanks!
are Heterometrus cyaneusi asian forest scorpions too?
Yeah

so they can be kept in the same tank as long as there's plenty of food and space?
Yup. There are species that can put in colonies. Just make sure the tank is big enough, they have enough prey, and that there are at least one hide per scorpion. Usually, you don't want more than three in a tank. And to limit cannibalism, try to have tank mates that are thebsane size

oh and BTW i like this video
are they poisonous ? wanna pick a pair for my brother ...
+Haikal Ghazi They're venomous. Poison is ingested, venom is injected. Their venom is mild. Local redness, and swelling. If you're allergic, it can be MUCH worse.
Awesome thanks ...
Nice example!
Hi.... I love your videos..!!.. Can you tell me how long it will be before my Asian forest scorpion sheds his first skin..??.. He's around 2 inches long at the moment..!!.. Any ideas..??
they should molt around 6 times in their life, and if they are 2 inches they can still grow another 4 -5 inches so they should molt pretty soon.
Excuse me I got a nice Asian forest scorpion but I wanna know about the poison, somebody can explain for me.? Because i wanna see my scorpion walking on my hand

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, the sting generally feels no worse than a bee sting.

Neat
whats different asian forest scorpion and emperor?

Heaven Lorenz i thought asian's pincer is smaller and more venomous
From what I've gathered, an Asian is less venomous than an Emperor.
Heaven Lorenz i love u
+Happy Donkey Lol, oh?

Yes the bigger one is the male, according to what i've read. I looked at the bottom "angel wings" as they were described.
the one eating a cricket looks like a swammerdami..?
@CarlosTheHerper Arigato mr. scorpion king.
I was thinking about getting one but the Temperature and humidity requirements are so high how do people even fucking do it
The Eco earth ground as their bedding helps maintain the humidity these guys need to survive. Mix that with a heating pad, and his water dish, and it isn't as hard as it seems :)
hey....I'm a begginer looking for a easy care scorpion and can have some handling......would this scorpion be good for me

I have a Heterometrus Longimanus Scorpion
I get it today
My 6th instar female was killed by ants a few months ago. They're cheap here in the Philippines but her death hurt me more than when my GBB got swarmed also by ants.
oof to both, GBB's are pretty and im getting one soon, but if anything happened to one of my inverts i would be sad.
baka poh sa left over foods or bagong molt
Hey, I have a problem about feeding my Longimanus, please what to do?
eat them instead!
yup for beginners
Unless its a striped Bark Scorpion, they actually colonize unlike other species.
@wchezem No, I meant all lighting except blacklight.
im gonna get 1 soon!
nope, longimanus sting is level1 (bee sting level only)
man i have a question for you, i bought one last week and he is a son of a bitc* how can i handle him? he gets really angry and it scared me..... his name is maximus decimus meridius i call him max ...
Ano naman tingin mo sakin noob?? Hindi ako nagamit ng soil.. cocopeat ang substrate na gamit ko at kung ikaw soil ang gamit mo eh good luck na lang sayo.
That looks like a Petersii rather than a Longimanus.
hey its asian scorpion
Huehue they look like lobsters
That one is a female!
guys help naman, i have 2 spinifers and they are on 4i na, i fed then 2x week, i think my female is gravid na. ok lng b na i handle or pick them up by tail?
