It sounds like a wonderful first day. Our schools have gotten extremely academic. They are not allowed to nap. Your first day sounds very child friendly.
You are absolutely phenomenal as a kindergarten teacher! My daughter starts in just over a week. I can only hope that she has someone as intuitive and creative as you to foster her growth! You are awesome!

Do the kids come to kindergarten already able to read? Your room is pretty. I like the bright colors instead of shiplap paper and burlap border that sooooo many teachers used for primary level kids. I feel the room belongs to the kids and should be decorated for them. I don't know a single child who likes burlap, shiplap paper, black walls, and such.
Kids&cats Thank you!! ❤️ Most of my kids come in knowing most uppercase letters, a handful of lowercase, and a few sounds. Very few know sight works and can read. It’s amazing how much they grow and what they can do by the end of the year!!!
No, at least in my school which in lower income area, most kids come in with no previous school experience and have not practiced at all.
I have had it both ways in different districts. It depends on the emphasis on pre-k in the district, I feel.
Many children do not react well to vivid or wild colors. I decorated my classroom in pink and brown (icing and chocolate). Parents and students said it was relaxing.

Do you make up the morning meeting sayings or do you already have ones ready to go that you just use?
the5Crows Each morning I make them up! I try to focus on a skill we are working on, such as beginning sounds, specific sight words, and so on. I keep the sentences mostly the same but add in if we have gym, music, or art each day!
@@essentiallykinder9055 that makes sense. I know sometimes for me, it's hard to come up with things on the fly. I was hoping there was already made meeting messages where I could tweak. But I think I can handle it now. Thank you!

IN kindergarten day have to take a nap after eating put IN the trash can lunch AND bathroom break wash there hand water AND soap dry paper towels put after day use THE 🚻 after day GO pee IN THE 🚽 flush THE 🚽
