Yes!!!! My experience exactly. Sooooo many people loved loved loved my realistic watercolor painting and SO FEW have loved my abstract paintings. I just have decided that I will paint for me. I LOVE abstract art!!!
I’m a newer painter (started last year at age 58) and I’ve always known that art, like so many other things, is subjective. I don’t take it personally at all if someone doesn’t like my work; I’m just thrilled anyone does like my work and that I’ve been able to sell so many paintings. I just learn and experiment and paint what I want to and the following comes. I think people see/feel the passion/joy in the work and are drawn to that - at least the ones attracted to my particular style of painting. We can’t worry about the naysayers; as with life in general, ya can’t please everyone.
It’s more important to make good work than it is to make sales. Sales aren’t an indicator of the ability to create a consistent body of work over a period of time. It all depends on your goals. Some of the worst paintings I have done sold, and some of the best paintings I have ever done didn’t. Sales don’t equal quality or consistency of work.
@@davidm.kesslerfineart1717 My goals are to paint what I love, continue learning and trying new things, and sell enough to not let my house become totally overrun. 🤣
I haven’t been painting for a very long time but I have experienced just what you’re talking about. I started out in realistic semi abstract landscape and found that it wasn’t satisfying an inner need in me so I migrated to acrylic and more abstract concepts and many couldn’t understand why because I was getting good at what I was doing. I love the expressive exploration of abstract. It digs deep inside of me and fills me with joy…that isn’t to say that every painting works but I have so much fun doing them.
Hello David , I’ve been thinking of making a short film to post on Instagram, I know you made a post on how you “set up” your filming technique, could you let me know which film it was please, Keep up the good work..👏🇬🇧

Dear David, what you do is great, what you say is right, your painting is fabulous, just go on and thanks for your job.

Jon, the video was my Zoom setup, which won’t help you. All my videos are made with my iPad on a tripod - it’s as simple as that.
@@davidm.kesslerfineart1717 that’s good to know David , I think I can manage that, thank you 🙏🏻.
@@TheStanman99 you’re welcome - good luck with it.
