    great video! had the electribe track been released 15 years ago, it would have actually been a record-breaking single tbh

    Dude I've been dreaming of make Analog dubstep like they when it was still in the UK. Thanks for showing off what you can do with dawless equipment.

      UK dubstep was 100% digital, just simpler in terms of sound design. You can definetly make some dirty heavyweight teardour dub with an ms20 or a subsequent 37

    Dude I just bought an Electribe to try and see how realistic it would be to accomplish this. Impeccable timing for this video. I’m stoked to see that it’s possible. Thanks!

      Pro-tip, layer sounds/ parts. Copy a part and change the sound up and now you have two things playing the same notes with two stacked engines that can be any two sounds. You can continue copying parts for greater than 2 layers of stacking. Add grooves to time-shift the notes a bit and things get crazy.

    this was super fun to watch. I would love more videos similar to this with different genres. Maybe chiptune, metal, or edm. Anything really. :)

    Hey Gabe is there a groovebox that has a built-in DAW that can plugin to a PC and off you go far price..

    Hi, Gabe! Thank you for explaining how to use these three devices to make DAWless Dubstep! I think that on these devices you can make three songs for one EP! What do you say about it?

  • @meinemudda3095
    @meinemudda3095 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    With a po 33 you can make a full song (with some massive effort)
    Because you can program easy your patternchain

      Yep, I've done it. But it is a huge pain.

    Hi Gabe, you should consider the ARQ96 Groovebox as its actual price is cheap af, I got myself one for 99 buck ( brand new) it's surprisingly awsome

    I think deadmau5 made raise your weapon almost all hardware based. I know noisia helped him out with it. But it's weird they have never made a hardware synth designed for dubstep entirely, or heavy bass music. That would be amazing.

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That WOULD be amazing. I'll have to look into Noisia's setup to see if I can steal any ideas!

    • @nomad1517
      @nomad1517 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They definitely use a lot of hardware. I think primarily for pads, textures, and melodies. But for most of their baselines it's like fm8, serum, massive, they are master's of processing their sound. It's their ability to distort their sound that makes their stuff so iconic. But they have a whole series on their workflow with razor and future music magazine. They also had a killer interview with iZotope. Highly recommend.

    • @nomad1517
      @nomad1517 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's weird they don't make hardware for modern sound design. We are in a golden age of technology where almost anything is possible. I really hope it happens in the near future.

    Do you think the electribe 2 is more versatile across different genres of music? Really difficult to decide between the E2 and the Circuit. The workflow on circuit seems more intuitive than the pattern chaining on the electribe.

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say the E2 and the Circuit are about equal in terms of versatility. I think the Circuit's sound engine is a little more deep, while E2's is better for on-the-fly, gritty sound design. The Circuit's workflow absolutely blows the E2's out of the water, in my opinion. If you're just gonna get one, I'd recommend the Circuit.

    me again. During the Circuit segment, you say you sequenced both the kick and snare on drum track 1. I may be hearing it wrong but it sounds more like you've got the clap, not the snare, on the same sample track as the kick. Please do more Circuit Dubstep anyway. Thanks.

  • @dinogoldie9716
    @dinogoldie9716 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is really good. I have questions. 1) Can you recommend any existing Circuit packs suited to Dubstep like one comprising a lot of patches with lfo macros(? 2) (re the synth lead/riff) is the note stuttering a played retriggering of that given note or lfo automation? Anyways, very good stuff. I'm currently teaching myself the Volca Drum and Circuit Mono Station but this makes me want to get my Circuit out again.

    • @GabeMillerMusic
      @GabeMillerMusic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you dig it!
      1. The Team Novation Pack or Tom Cosm's pack are both good for bass music.
      2. The stuttering is just the note repeating, with the synth having a really short release.

    • @dinogoldie9716
      @dinogoldie9716 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks +Gabe Miller Music really helpful. I'm thinking about copping that Tom Cosm "Nice & Naughty" pack and pairing it with the "Cosmogonik" patches. Have you done any tutorials on doing risers/fills?

    • @GabeMillerMusic

      A couple of reasons:
      - I like the idea of comparing the devices' capabilities
      - all three jams were made as experiments during different sessions across a couple of months. The idea for the video format came later.
