My number 1 thing is don't get talked into doing a timeshare tour i about went to jail for assault cause them people would not stop after saying no 50 times. They kept sending a different person back. They tell you it takes 90 mins but it really takes over 3 hrs.
Yes! My husband was almost ready to fight because after numerous people trying like you said, the last guy got aggressive & frustrated/loud. They have even called me as I'm signed up for hotel benefits & now they're canvassing those customers to get them to do tineshares. I told the lady no not happening. I don't care what they offer my husband. He will not Ever go again.
Amen!!!!! We went to Bluegreen back in April for spring break. They almost got hostile with me when I told them no!!!! And yes, 90 mins turned into 3 hours!!!! Valuable family time at the beach was lost by them!!!! Bluegreen is HORRIBLE!!!!! And the "free" extra vacations they gave me on top of that one, yea....a joke!!! I'm still working on that 8 day 7 night condo. That I had to pay a $50 fee to just register to get it. Then I called to get reservations and they told me there was nothing available at Myrtle Beach during that week. They asked if I wanted to go anywhere else. Ummmm, no! I live 2 hours away....Myrtle Beach is our "go to". They are such a ripoff with all their "free" vacations. They REALLY upset me in April. NEVER again!!!

I would definitely suggest bring sandals to the beach. The sand can get very hot when walking down. I sometimes forget sandals and it hurts.

You like it when your here for a week or two at a time but growing up here you'll learn to fucking hate it. Especially with alk the goddamn tourists.
I've been to MB a few times and this list is spot on. The only thing I would add is bring some pool shoes or socks because the beach is full of shells for anyone that is tender footed.
Absolutely. We just visited a few weeks ago and I was amazed at how many seashells there were on the shore because where I'm from (The Golden Isles), there aren't that many like that on the beach. Plus the sand was extremely hot.
Yep. We went in June and it was like walking on broken glass. The weird thing is I’ve probably been there a dozen times in the last 10 years and I’ve never seen them like that until this year.

You must have been sad about the Heather Elvis case but glad the couple is in jail. I wish I could visit there. I'm sure Tammy and Sidney moorer are an exception to most locals. I love the accent. I'm from Boston.
They dont fucking care. Our home is a vacation to them and since its not THEIR home they dont care what happens to it.

I never bring my good jewelry on vacation. We never take money on the beach and if I do at the pool it’s just a few dollars in change. We always respect the locals because inKY in April there is an even “hillbilly days” That in those three days we can’t move. But it’s an amazing event for Shriners hospital/children. Great advice!!
I was a Lifeguard on the beach here in Myrtle in the 80's. I caught a Guy who had been stealing Items like hotel keys,money etc, from beach towels left by the tourist while they would swim or what ever. He would then go to the hotel rooms and rob them of what ever he could. This guy was not a native but was a local here, and was known by me and others in the area( not known well enough though). He was caught because a young daughter was in a hotel room he broke into. She screamed he panic and fled. The Family contacted the police and the Father and Daughter were telling me what had just happened when the Daughter saw the would be thief jogging down the beach. I ran up behind him and asked him to stop a moment and he took off running faster. MBPD had also showed up at that time.and the chase was on, I caught up to him hiding behind a Dumpster. When the PD went to his home two block from where we all were they freaked out at ALL THE STOLEN GOODS THAT HE HAD. Folks, please don't feed the Crooks
DON'T LEAVE YOUR STUFF UNATTENDED FOR ANY REASON. I cant stress this enough. Be safe and enjoy your stay on The GRAND STRAND

there was a guy near me here in raleigh nc that all he did was steal from stores. It was several years ago but i think the news reports said he had over $300,000 in stolen products in his house. He had nice plants and yard ornaments put in his yard so im guessing he was making bank

I was at MB for a week several weeks ago. It was a great week. There were great fireworks shows each evening on the beach right in front of my building. I am going back down there again for Labor Day weekend.
One additional "Don't" is do not expect to go out to eat or go to a grocery store quickly on check in Saturday afternoon/evening. The crowds and wait times are terrible.
My family and I just came home from Myrtle Beach. We had a great time and the people are very nice . 😎

Most of the time they're very polite and in a great mood. And why not there in Myrtle Beach South Carolina a great place to be and they're on vacation. Again good video.
I’m from Greenville sc and I grew up going to this beach sometimes 4 times a year and it has change since I was a kid! I’m talking about it has really really changed

I watch, but I’m also pretty local. Live a little west of Conway. It sure has change down at beach since I was a young boy. Some of my best memories were made at myrtle beach. Now we take the boat and go where there’s nobody around but yourself and the ocean. Good videos.

One thing I would recommend is don’t forget beach shoes. The shells are Myrtle Beach can get bad. We were there at the first of June and the broken shells covered the whole beach. It was like walking on glass.

what about in the off season? i want to go in october/ november, can you put up a tent or anything bigger than an umbrella???
Planning on going end of February right before spring break, ibknow its possibly will not be super warm, but how busy will it be , we are just wanting relax vacation
Definitely leave a tip. The average wage in Horry County (where Myrtle Beach is) is always close to dead last for ALL COUNTIES in the USA, so you can imagine that those in the service industry are making a wage a little bit more valuable than a handful of dirt. I was a skilled laborer in Myrtle Beach, and even with that wage there were times I couldn't make ends meet.
Tipping in the U.S. needs to just end. These rich owners need to start paying a fair wage or they can just close shop and nobody wins.
I work near tourists in Hawaii, it fucking sucks but I don't expect a tip. (Tipping culture here sucks.)

Another DON'T. Don't forget to put MORE than enough money in the meter. If your time clicks off you WILL get a ticket. They ride around routinely checking & the meter is lit. It blinks red when the money runs out so they dont have to even go to the meter, they can see it from a distance.
Honestly nowadays most of our meters use credit/debit cards, some even make you register your phone number

We vacation in North Myrtle Beach several times a year. Beautiful place, I also reccomend the Patricia Grand,they are a pet friendly resort

I have been to Myrtle Beach more times than I can count. I have always left my stuff lying on the beach. Of course you don't leave valuables in plain site but I have never had anything taken on the beach. I have only had it happen once in a hotel room.

We were just there Aug 17 2019 through Aug 27 and had a great time with my family. Funny about some of those laws..... I guess we were lucky with the alcoholic beverages! Nice to see the places we went to on here. Thx

Every year I've been to Myrtle Beach there's been people drinking on the beach, and also fireworks on the beach at night, lol.
They never bother you as long as you don't act dumb.
Everyone drinks on the beach, they use a koozie to cover the beer up, or put drinks in cups, don't advertise what your doing, and act dumb and you are fine, been doing that for 30+ years now.
Please do a “The Must-Dos of Myrtle Beach” video because this video has some don’ts and I want some dos and not don’ts!

They are only illegal inside of city limits of MB I'm just past the waccamaw river so I know what you mean with the 4th, but places like the piers and Broadway have special permits that let's them shoot em off so often, and usualy when you see fireworks on the beach during the summer its generally ignorant tourists from some dry ass state where they are illegal
I am also a local. Tourists have been setting off fireworks on the beach every night for the past 2 months! Until 1 or 2 am! My dog freaks out! The only thing that somewhat helps is a thunder shirt & hemp chews. They can also trigger PTSD im all the veterans who live here. My man is one of them. We are ready to move out of MB!

They shoot off fireworks all the time. Nearly year round, no one cares. Even the piers and Broadway used to shoot them off every week during the summer

If i may add to the list.. Sun tan lotion part. Dont forget the tops of your feet. First year there i did and was lucky enough to catch it in time with some pure aloe i was fine
On yes!! I got sun poisoning on the tops of my feet once. Not a pleasant experience.

I'm a local and thanks for this. I'd like to add a few things: don't be an asshole to the locals. Drive carefully and avoid 501; take 22 instead. Don't go around Myrtle Beach alone at night. It's not safe. Don't be an asshole to the locals. (It bears repeating). Don't talk about how much better such and such is up north. Go back if you love it so much. Please don't come here for a few weeks, get a "summer" pet, then abandon it. Every September, there is a surge in the strays and the shelters. Finally, if there's a sign in any parking lot or neighborhood saying you will be towed if you park there without a sticker, guess what? You will be.
Did I mention don't be an asshole to the locals? 😊

Just got back 7-29-19. Uber was good...not on Sunday tho. Got lucky with humidity...was very low. And lots of resturants are closed on Sunday. It was our first time. Other than that it was ok.
Have you done a video on the Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet area? Considering moving there.
We live in Murrells Inlet. We moved here from Long Island, NY almost 10 years ago and LOVE IT. There are a lot of us northerners here who have escaped high taxes and snow!
I highly suggest those areas! I live in Myrtle Beach and work in Murrells Inlet. It's beautiful and a wonderful community

Well technically it's an umbrella still as long it only has the one post, but the law was made a few years back when we had a bad homeless problem and they were all camping on the beach
Went to Myrtle Beach in August 2021.
Don't remember the name, but we stayed at a hotel on the beach. Didn't wander around very far, but it seemed pretty fine as far as people saying it was ghetto.
Not a bad place, but I'd probably look for somewhere less populated and try camping on the beach next time.
When is the off season? October last year I was there and it was still blazing 🔥.
'Off Season' doesn't necessarily mean it is cooler weather. It can be 'blazing' in November sometimes. I would say that in my opinion true 'off season' as far as less tourists is end of Oct-Feb. It gets shorter each year.

I jumped off the pier this week and got arrested, let’s just say it was pretty crazy. Would totally recommend though😂
Be careful doing that because around the pier the currents will pull you under and if you do always sweam diagonal to shore.

Is st clementine condos in a safe area
Thank you for bringing up locals people who work in this area are for the most part poor . Most don't realize that we are the lowest paid county in the country by far . The average pay is 560 per week . I am not kidding and the cost of living is high for the south . Most who live in Myrtle and work in Myrtle can't enjoy it because we work 6 days a week 10 12 our days just to pay bills . It's a tuff place to live .
That's why we moved out!!
Go to Atlanta or somewhere else
I also had to mention with that that most of the businesses in the area don't have to pay overtime either if they are in the tourism sector since most of their business comes in a short period of time. That contributes to the low wages as well.
I actually thought about moving there .My husband and I are middle aged .
We stay a lot in the winter months and I never see much of a police presence around the 6900 ave area and never see anyone get stopped from fireworks on the beach.

@@memeesh914 It was AMAZING! We stayed in South Myrtle at the Renaissance Tower, it was about 5 or 6 miles from the boardwalk so it was less crowded. Definitely go to the aquarium, wonderworks if you like science. Also if you're into fishing, voyager has a really cool night trip to fish for sharks for only 45 dollars a person! It was unique and so much fun! If you're into nightlife, the boardwalk is where it's at! Oh and for gifts or decor DEFINITELY go to the Gay dolphin. Crabby Mikes has the BEST seafood in MB! Stay far far FAR away from the Bawk Bawk chicken house, we spent 250 on doordash for the family and all of our food was rotted and moldy! I'm not prim and proper when it comes to food because I'll eat from some shady places if the food tastes good😂😂😂 But this place omg, if I wouldn't have got in trouble I would thrown it off the 22nd story balcony! Haha

So glad this came up today! My best friend, her kids and grand kids and I are going on June 5 for a week. Never been. I can't wait. Is it worth it to go to the aquarium. We will have 5 kids from 4-12 years old.
Check for coupons before you go. Locals get a discount if they can prove they live here. There are coupons for everybody else in the coupon books in front of restaurants. But YES! Take those kids to the MB Aquarium!!! When mine were younger, I took them quite often. We spent at least 2 fun hours there each time, if not more time!!

When is off season
Don’t forget to research! It’s a very trashy beach in some of the tourist areas. Hotels can be run down..Some residential areas are extremely nice. It is a deceiving area overall. Nice one corner then terrifying around the next...Shootings, drugs, crime, homeless and heat aren’t a good combo. However it’s cheap. So you get what you pay for! Do your research.
The number one thing is don't come the week of memorial day. Theres this event called black bike week where all the thugs in the US take over the town. However, the week before is harley davidson week which is actually pretty cool.
So true about the bike week, I had to walk home after work one night, not a hard walk only about 3 miles or so takes me about 30-40 minutes, but I got hit by a car, just a shoulder tap by the mirror, still hurt like hell, then not 5 minutes later the same cat came by and threw a beer bottle at my head! As if it was my fault they hit me!

I just moved here and have a love / hate relationship with Myrtle.
If the culture here was upscale, it would be the best place ever.
The reality is, its a trashy tourist trap with absolutely no culture.
Its like a beautiful girl who is retarded.

Don't i know I live here & was cleaning condo's. Yes traffic really bad. Wish everyone thought about leaving a tip 😊. All great advice we've had shark attacks, also rib current can be bad too & you could get thrown into the pilons.

They just outlawed the tents a few years ago. I have owned a condo in North Myrtle Beach for over a decade and have always drank on the beach with no issue.
The resort I stayed at, they set off fireworks anyways 😂 it was pretty cool tbh

i feel like my number one thing is to keep your valuables nearby you. i’ve read stories that a woman went in the water at the beach and a homeless man stole her belongings that were on the beach. also, tipping your servers, house cleaning, etc. i used to work in a restaurant near the marsh walk and i made more money in tips than wage as a 15 year old.
I would recommend not bringing valuables at all. Thieves love to hit cars at beach access.

Mr myrtle im going in mid sept. On average what are the temps there. I waited to late to book the timeshare for a good date. Thanks in advance
It's still hot in September 80's to 90's during the day but the nights aren't as hot they start to cool off. The past 4 nights have been cooler bring a sweatshirt or light jacket near the ocean can get chilly. Remember September is hurricane season and if a hurricane comes everything closes down. We had a very hot summer with the high humidity it's been around 105° ~ 112° You feel like your in a sauna so drink a lot of water.
