Justice for Kelsey! The Pretty Reckless’ achievements include the most number one singles on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart of any female-led band, the first act with 4 number one singles on the Mainstream Rock chart, and a bunch more, including a bunch of music awards ❤
Love y’all but Kelsey is 100% correct that The Pretty Reckless is a huge rock band for a female fronted band. Rock music is sadly extremely male dominated so for Taylor Momsen to have so much success it’s actually very rare and pretty amazing! They opened for The Rolling Stones this year in Vegas. Yes Paramore has more success but how many other very successful female fronted rock groups can you name? Maybe two others, the point is there's a million famous dude bands but only a handful with women leading the group that reach mainstream success (for rock music) like The Pretty Reckless.
So true, Evanescence is the only other band that comes to mind! And I guess we can say Linkin Park now that they have Emily. There are a number of great women leading rock bands recently though, so the future seems bright!
@@lt80149Yes! Love Evansacence so much, some might argue old Avril Lavigne too but she's technically not a band, and a classic is Heart of course but compared to male leads in rock bands it’s really not much but I'm really hoping that it becomes more popular. I wish rock music was more gender inclusive so I always make sure to point out the discrepancies in rock music especially when it comes to success for women. I always find it a very interesting conversation.
The only other ones I can think of not named here are Halestorm and Within Temptation and Taylor did a cover of We Will Rock You with both Lzzy and Maria 😍
It definitely gave me the ick that Kelsey wanted to bring it up and the rest of them were basically like "Okay sweetie I'm sure they're a good band ANYWAY REMEMBER THE GREEN BABY"
@colbydesales7265 Obviously lol. I'm talking about the origin story that was developed (which is not a component of either the original books or the 1939 movie). She didn't even have a name in those iterations. But quite frankly this comment was meant as a joke so it's really not worth arguing about.
28:42 My sweet dog was named after Max from this movie, he passed this year in April. i’ve been watching this movie nonstop all holiday season this year. made me so happy to hear you guys talk about his namesake how you did :) i kinda felt like his grinch sometimes but he always helped keep me sane
Everybody knows the story of Jim Carrey going through training to withstand his prosthetics, but the flip side most people don't know is that he was so awful and abusive to his makeup artist, Kazu, that the poor man went to therapy for years for it, and almost left the industry entirely. He's the greatest special effects makeup artist of our generation, and has since won multiple Oscars for best makeup. Full prosthetics are an absolute pain, but he didn't deserve such awful treatment.
Kelsey’s so right about people hating this movie. I took History of Motion Pictures in high school (this was like 15 years ago lol), and I still vividly remember our teacher heaping so much praise on Ron Howard as a director but specifically insulted The Grinch movie like it was a stain on his career or something 😂 My mother loved this movie and we’d always watch it every year so that dig was very memorable lol
This movie holds such a core memory and even though its great it wasnt from the movie itself at all- its 8th grade, the day before christmas break so our homeroom teacher, mrs decker, puts on this movie and lets us just chill out and watch it with popcorn and soda. My good friend Emily and I sat together. At one point during the movie, the boy sitting alone in front of us, Edgar, after finishing his soda, crushes the aluminum can, looks left and right for a moment, and then seemingly swallows the aluminum can whole. Neither Emily or I knew what happened, it doesnt even seem possible and it didnt really make any noise- edgar was also a seemingly completely normal or even popular type of kid in every other sense (just saying he wasnt known to do weird quirky things like this) but we both looked at each other silently and then burst out laughing. We talked about it afterwards and dont know how, but yes we both saw the same thing happen from different angles. We still mention it years later because it was such a monumental moment in our friendship
This was such a guilty pleasure movie. My family was very conservative Christian so they essentially banned jim carrey in our house but my aunt snuck me this movie on vhs and i was would sneak watch this under my parent's noses.
The saddest part of this movie is where did he get Max? He definitely didnt go to a shelter or know someone who had puppies. He definitely found this dog or someone dumped him and now he gets to live with grinch, both of them unwanted by society
I remember when I was younger universal studios kept up part of the set that they built for the grinch and we would tour through it during the backstage tour!! It was so cool
Kelsey shooting a movie at JOSS WHEDONS HOUSE (CREATOR OF THE ONE AND ONLY BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) and not even remembering his name..... I'm... Kelsey.... Please...
Speaking for gen z here, do not blame rainie being young in her not knowing the grinch. I grew up traumatized by the movie like many others of my generations.
8:30 Panic attacks are not a joke, Zach. For someone who talks about their own issues a lot, you should be more empathetic when it comes to this stuff.
I will NOT take this pretty reckless slander before the year is over in the year of our Lord 2024, justice for rock queen taylor momsen and justice for kelsey bc she’s CORRECT
when/where do y'all live? bc Raine never watched the grinch?? and y'all didn't know Taylor momsen is in a band?? like have y'all even seen that viral video of "Taylor momsen" fleeing the paparazzi? like it was a whole conversation how taylor plays cute lil Cindy Lou who and now she's alt and in a band
This movie is fantastic and I know this episode is about the holiday spirt but we need to get back to true guilty pleasures please. Which is, hear me out, Coyote Ugly. A fantastic guilty pleasure
I love this movie so much, I fully pissed my pants as a grown ass 13 year old whilst watching it with a bunch of kids I was sort of baby sitting. Still haven't lived it down. Still worth it 😎🤘
Bo Welch, the director of that Cat in the Hat movie, worked on the productions of Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Batman Returns and the Men In Black movies. He is also married to Catherine O’Hara , they met working on Beetlejuice. Wish the Cat in the Hat movie was better.
Broooo Pretty Reckless is still one of my favorite female bands and has been since Gossip Girl. You can literally see her evolution on the show. It’s extremely hard to be successful as a woman rock band, even now so definitely put some respect on her name!
I thought you all were in the film business. 8 hours in makeup?!?! More like 12-14. He was the lead! That means likely in full body prosthetics for 16 hours a day.
I don’t think it’s correct to say that we haven’t had a Jim Carrey before, he comes from a long tradition of comedia del arte and theatrics. I think instead that he’s a master at a dying art, bringing theater to film
It is BLOWING MY MIND that Rainie hasn't seen this masterpiece.
FR and that she thought it was a recent movie, even though, she said she saw the Jim Carrey grinch interview!? how old do we think Jim is/looks?
This is what I don’t like about Rainie as a producer. 😂 She should watch all the movies they will make an episode.
I can’t BELIEVE y’all didnt shoutout THE Christine Baranski ONCE for her iconic performance as Martha May. GIVE MY GIRL HER FLOWERS!
THIS!!!!!!! CAME TO SAY THIS!!!!!!
Iconic! Martha SLAY
they mentioned her so briefly and brought up Mamma Mia and immediately moved on 🥲
Justice for Kelsey! The Pretty Reckless’ achievements include the most number one singles on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart of any female-led band, the first act with 4 number one singles on the Mainstream Rock chart, and a bunch more, including a bunch of music awards ❤
... that still doesnt exactly seem like what she said though?
I have so many questions as to how rainie did not know about this movie before this episode hahaha

I look like Taylor and pretty much any time i go out with makeup on i get stopped and asked if i know who they are. I’d say they’re pretty popular!
So true, Evanescence is the only other band that comes to mind! And I guess we can say Linkin Park now that they have Emily. There are a number of great women leading rock bands recently though, so the future seems bright!

Baby Grinch was the original Elphaba 🗣
(Elphaba) The Wicked Witch of the West is from the 1939 film the Wizard of Oz so The Green Wicked Witch has been around much longer than the Grinch
@colbydesales7265 Obviously lol. I'm talking about the origin story that was developed (which is not a component of either the original books or the 1939 movie). Kelsey, not only was it not a Ron Howard movie, it also was not A Midsummer’s Night Dream 😂 it was Joss Whedon’s 2012 Much Ado About Nothing 😂
I think the props and sets are absolutely brilliant. I wish more film nowadays had this level of whimsical and immersion.
28:42 My sweet dog was named after Max from this movie, he passed this year in April. i’ve been watching this movie nonstop all holiday season this year. made me so happy to hear you guys talk about his namesake how you did :) i kinda felt like his grinch sometimes but he always helped keep me sane
I’m so sorry for your loss, may Max’s memory live on in your heart and bring you comfort every holiday season 💚❤️
@@monii.v you are so sweet thank you 🥺
So sorry for your loss. I lost my own little Max in September on his 15th birthday. Sending you love this holiday season 🫂♥️
@ it is the worst pain 😭 thank you for the solidarity ❤️❤️❤️
martha may was my gay awakening😂😂
I'm just saying they did not talk about the voicemail. "If you utter one syllable I'd hunt you down and gut you like a fish." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
“If you’d like to fax me, press the star key.” 🤣
justice for kelsey about the pretty reckless! she's right!
I saw the remnants of the Grinch set during a Universal tour and saw the dog who played Max in 2018. I was crying the whole time lmao
Raine, you have to see this movie. I’m also not a Christmas movie girlie, but this one is a banger film in its own right. So funny!
Please have a Jim Carrey month and review Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and The Truman Show!
The number 23 was pretty fun too

The practical effects was also why The Substance was so good. No CG or green screens. Just amazing real well done effects
I was worried it was the new animators grinch at first but I should have known I can trust you guys 🙌🏼
I'm currently at work, but I am SO excited that you guys are covering this movie. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. Love that grumpy guy 🧅🎄
The Pretty Reckless is actually really popular in Argentina. Also, this year they opened for the foo fighters in their tour
16:21 Garrick giggling at Kelsey’s notebook is so funny 😭😭😭
Can't stand The Pretty Reckless slander. They need to bring back those album/artist episodes they did for the strike just to vindicate Kelsey
Kelsey’s so right about people hating this movie. They better not have one bad thing to say about the BEST christmas movie
This is one of my absolute favorite movies. I watch it anytime a year.
This movie holds such a core memory and even though its great it wasnt from the movie itself at all-

11:04 RAINIIII WHATTTTT DONT PMOOOO OMGGGG😭😭 sis what do you mean you don’t know THE GRINCH??!???
Lol she definitely was in that movie 😂😂😂 her mixing up the director is hilarious
This movie will be watched, EVERY YEAR
This was such a guilty pleasure movie. My family was very conservative Christian so they essentially banned jim carrey in our house but my aunt snuck me this movie on vhs and i was would sneak watch this under my parent's noses.
My dad worked props on this movie and the whoville set was the last place he smoked weed
Thank you guys for making this podcast. I look forward to it every week. ❤❤❤
Polar Express scared me way more than this movie ever could. The only time Tom Hanks has freaked me out 😂
The fact that this is only 50 minutes long must mean they had to cut a lot of Grinch glazing
The saddest part of this movie is where did he get Max? He definitely didnt go to a shelter or know someone who had puppies. He definitely found this dog or someone dumped him and now he gets to live with grinch, both of them unwanted by society
What the F......this never even acured to me....and I've watched this religiously during holiday times
Ive always thought someone got Max as an Xmas present and dumped him. Even when i was a kid... wonder what that says about me
I am same age as Rainie and literally cannot fathom that she has NEVER seen this movie
Guys, can we do Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog? Please!?!
I desperately wanted zach and Garrick to look up Taylor now lol
I looooooove the pretty reckless. Taylor has so much talent! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I think there's a lot of hate for this movie from people that prefer the original animated version
Jim Carreys, The Grinch, is my all time favorite christmas movie!
Fully ran out of the theatre crying as a child thinking the grinch was going to kill Cindy Lou Who in the mail room.
😂😂😂😂
You're gonna tell me that Zach's top Christmas movie isn't Jingle All the Way??
In defense of Kelsey, the claim to fame for Whedon’s Much Ado is that everyone on set was absolutely hammered the entire time.
I remember when I was younger universal studios kept up part of the set that they built for the grinch and we would tour through it during the backstage tour!! It was so cool
DR HORRIBLE'S SING ALONG BLOG MENTIONED!!!
Kelsey shooting a movie at JOSS WHEDONS HOUSE (CREATOR OF THE ONE AND ONLY BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) and not even remembering his name..... I'm... Kelsey.... Please...
This is exactly what I needed today. Bless y'all.
I can't believe they've not done a muppet movie yet
Okay now do the polar express. Tom hanks goes bananas on that shit
Parts of the set are still at universal in LA I believe
This is in my top ten movies and i watch it all year around and at least 3times a week after Halloween is over❤
"The baby Grinch is kinda like Hannibal Lector." I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS COMMENT!
i saw this movie at too young of an age and had TOO nuch sympathy for the grinch and i think thats part of what dictates the type of people i date
Please review Netflix animated film “Klaus”
This is my #1 Christmas movie. I watch it year round.
Omg! I watched this movie last night with my parents!!! Its so iconic!
Speaking for gen z here, do not blame rainie being young in her not knowing the grinch. I grew up traumatized by the movie like many others of my generations.
Let’s go! This movie slaps!
My tattoo artist did a baby grinch tattoo for the Friday the 13th flash. We love him. DANTA!!!!
The way my mouth dropped when Zach said Joss Whedon
Just watched this two nights ago. Classic. Lol
The pretty reckless is amazing and so well known !
Zach is the baby Grinch 🍀🍀🍀
If anyone happened to be wondering, Ron Howard was Opie on Andy Griffith
8:30 Panic attacks are not a joke, Zach.

Speaking of Jim Carrey, I’m BEGGING you to do Me, Myself, and Irene. #1 guilty pleasure movie
Speaking of Baby Grinch, the night he was dropped at his adopted parents house, they were having a Key Party.
Def thought Dick Van Dyke would have been considered for the lead, but Tim Curry would have been a wild ride
The whoville set is preserved at universal Studios you can see it on the Tram tour
Omg please do Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along !!! Freaking amazing
Were already off to a great start, omg
PLSSS WATCH JINGLE ALL THE WAY EVEN IF ITS NEXT YEAR!!!! ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER AND SINBAD IN A CHRISTMAS MOVIE?!?! PLSSSSSS!!!
I'd love to see you guys do the first season of Ted Lasso
This movie is fantastic and I know this episode is about the holiday spirt but we need to get back to true guilty pleasures please. Which is, hear me out, Coyote Ugly. A fantastic guilty pleasure
I'm the only person I know who loves the cat in the hat 😢
I love this movie so much, I fully pissed my pants as a grown ass 13 year old whilst watching it with a bunch of kids I was sort of baby sitting. Still haven't lived it down. Still worth it 😎🤘
I am going to need y’all to do Life Size. Pleaseeee. Pretty please. 🙏
And they did NOT look it up later and put it in the description
DENIS QUAD YOURS, MINE, AND OURS
Og animation is still the best adaptation of the grinch
Bo Welch, the director of that Cat in the Hat movie, worked on the productions of Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Batman Returns and the Men In Black movies.
He is also married to Catherine O’Hara , they met working on Beetlejuice. Wish the Cat in the Hat movie was better.
Weekly ask of doing step up 3d! Also yay this movie!
i hated this film as a child but love it as a adult

How dare they not know Martha MayWhovia's full name!!!
I thought you all were in the film business. 8 hours in makeup?!?! More like 12-14. He was the lead! That means likely in full body prosthetics for 16 hours a day.
Need y’all to watch Scott Pilgrim!
Screaming at the thumbnail
I always thought Jim Carry was a newer version of Jerry Lewis. The type of physical comedy with acting., etc.
Me asking you guys to do Honey for the 29374447th time
Pleaseee watch the game plan
Please do A Bad Moms Christmas 🎄😅
14:34
This movie was #1 in the box office how was it panned? The sixth highest-grossing movie of 2000.
Jesse I know that Jack Nicholson played The joker in the 1980s or 90s Batman
