@@CheetahWhisperer I would venture a guess that their instincts would allow themn to survive in the wild anyway. We adopted a cat from a refuge last year. No one ever taught him this. He saw a bird and instinct kicked in.
@@hugolafhugolaf my cat before I rescued her lived outside for a year, through the winter, before I finally managed to get her to come to me so I could give her a home. She's killed 4 squirrels and 3 birds from just being outside on the deck, and almost 10 mice that get inside from the woods.

Purring has been found to speed healing, reduce stress, and it does relax. Recent research has indicated it can heal bones and muscle damage up to 20% faster.
the first time a cat hears purring is from their mother, so that they can always find her when their eye's/ears aren't open yet, so they feel her before they hear her...
Stewie’s like “I’m sure there’s a teat on here somewhere” As correctly said, searching for a teat is usually seen in cats either weaned too young or hand reared!

@Minchius Maximus I don’t think it could take down a big dog or guard dog such as a Rottweiler, Doberman, German shepherd, pit bull. Unless you mean livestock like they said in the video?
@@AGreenApple_ These cats fully grown can weigh up to 20kgs, that's basically 4 times heavier than the average house cat. The question is which dog is brave enough to chase one.
@@Militia_Dei777 yea Ik they’re massive but the thing is most guard dogs are in the 40kg - 50kg range, and the even more muscular ones are heavier than the average woman who weighs in at 50kgish. I once met a kitty on my way home from school that jumped on me and suckled my earlobes as soon as I sat down to rest, it felt so weird I couldn't stop giggling. He was really aggressive about it and I didn't know what to do.
Ah man... I've had cheetahs do that as well and same thing... get really possessive over it. It is because it gives them pleasure and they want to enjoy it.
babalon 777 my big baby Dharma suckled buttons. He was six years and about 20 lbs, a beautiful ginger tabby with most unusual markings. He slept stretched out full length on my legs when I watched TV. God I love that purrrrr. D9 cat.
Notice the black and white mascara around their eyes... that is so they can hunt in day or night. The white reflects light from stars and the moon so they can see better at night and the black absorbs light of the day to reduce the glare so they can hunt better in the day. See if your cat has this or others you know.
I've got a female european cat, and, at least, to me, there is some semblance of a surrounding black mascara and a brighter zone of fur around the eye. Of course much dimmer, but i've seen that both caracals and european cats have those somewhat cut black stripes surrounding the eyes. That is, that, for example, in cheetahs, i'd percieved that stripe to be longer and more curved.
What I notice about them is that the behavior of socialized caracals is so similar to that of common house cats. Some are friendlier than others, but then so are house cats and even people. That's what's so great about cats in general... they are all individuals. I think that, after house cats and their African wildcat cousins, and maybe the Asian leopard cat, caracals are probably the most domesticable species of cat... even more so than the more commonly domesticated serval. Maybe that's just because servals seem so high-strung by comparison. Both species show affection and like to groom their human friends, but caracals just seem so much more laid back and cool.

That wild kitty is way more affectionate than any domestic kitty I've ever owned
Many say that. It must be a trend. I've not known many house cats in my life as a dog person. But pleasantly surprised how tamed wild cats can be so nice and friendly. Granted some house cats and wild ones are dangerous too if they don't know or like you.

I hope that they keep him safe! What a gorgeous cat!!! thanks for the video!!! awesome work!!
Yes! Agreed except for being released. You can do it on a large game range with no predators on it. It was done and both are doing well! th-cam.com/video/uRAlXFqWXt8/w-d-xo.html
@@CheetahWhisperer Oh good, I was a little worried but your comment puts me to ease
@@CheetahWhisperer I would venture a guess that their instincts would allow themn to survive in the wild anyway. We adopted a cat from a refuge last year. Kept indoor, and when he goes outdoor, he's on a leash. He's 1 y.o. Gets fed all the time. This AM, I opened the door, and he ran away from me and caught a bird, with his harness and leash in tow. No one ever taught him this. He saw a bird and instinct kicked in.
@@hugolafhugolaf Exactly. Even domesticated dogs that are abandoned will join packs of feral dogs and live like that.
@@hugolafhugolaf my cat before I rescued her lived outside for a year, through the winter, before I finally managed to get her to come to me so I could give her a home. She's surprisingly lazy and unathletic, but when she sees a bird or rodent, a switch gets flipped, and she turns into a killing machine. She's killed 4 squirrels and 3 birds from just being outside on the deck, and almost 10 mice that get inside from the woods.
all cats love to cuddle, and they can identify a person who gives good cuddles, that's why they love you.

I think we’ve been living a lie.
The wild cats I know kill humans. Can't exactly call em friendly 👀
Most of those are ones trained for illegal dog fighting rings, no animal is naturally aggressive, if you leave them alone they leave you alone

This caracal more tame than some domestic cats I've come across

I believe a large chunk of that is because Stewie is male. Female cats are usually standoffish, at least from what I've seen.

These wild wonderful cats nake you feel blessed. Volly sometime somewhere to sense it and feel the same.
Purring must be one of the most relaxing sounds out there 😍
It's just vibration of their vocal cords when feeling comfort. So basically an electric massager

So basically, these bad boys are like dog sized cats that gives affection like dogs
Yup!
So I think a big guard dog or any kind of guard dog who outweighs this cat could kill it if it managed to bite it. If the cat gets on top of its back it’s game over. Have you seen the caracals teeth and claws? It’s a fucking monster.
@@AGreenApple_ Yes dogs obviously chase cats and in some cases killed them as well. You probably never owned cats from the sound of things. If you did you probably know that dogs have been known to have lost an eye or two because they chased a cat into a corner.

Dolph C. Volker That had to hurt!

This is seriously the best channel ever, Dolph
That is such an honor coming from you. Thanks! It will get even better when I get my cheetah breeding project started. Sometime maybe next year.
Dolph C. Volker I can barely wait!!
The facial features of caracals are quite close to those of the common house cat, aren't they.
Near the end of the video, did you say, "guard dogs AND guard donkeys"?!? I may have misheard. Thanks for the great video and love the Caracal!!
YES, BOTH ARE FELINES....
Kinda looks like a lynx and cougar mixed up but smaller
