Kinji the Cheetah is something special. He honestly tries making friends with everyone... especially the animals that lives within his reach. I've mentioned before he is very clever and extremely calm and non aggressive in nature. Chloe the dog bites him on the lips sometimes when he bothers her to much and he accepts the consequences and never retaliates. He is a fun loving cheetah who loves to play and loves MEERKATS!
Here he is at 8 months and 2 years old trying to get the meerkats to scratch him. He ends up purring to the delight of getting a grooming from these small creatures. He has no idea they want to kill him! Meerkats are territorial and do not like predators.
Staff label Kinji as "The cheetah that doesn't purr" and it is rare for sure. I've only heard him purr when eating sometimes, playing with a toy sometimes, and encountering his meerkat friends. I was very happy to hear and record his purr. A cheetah purr is quickly becoming my favorite sound in the world... so relaxing, calming, and something that penetrates the psyche down to the rudimentary soul for me. A purrs is designed to calm tensions; letting others around them know a friendly cat is present.

The meerkat knew there is a barrier between it and the cat. So it was emboldened to do whatever.
The meerkats are doing their natural defensive behavior, yet they also know this cheetah and might enjoy his visits, too.

IT’SME_ IamShe Only if you don’t raise your cat well. Many people try to ‘handwrestle’ with their with kittens, but the kittens learn to attack your hand when they barely have teeth. The, when the cat is grown, they don’t understand why their cats bite them so much. Bruh, you learned your cat that your hand is their toy. NEVER LET YOUR CATS ‘PLAY’ (it’s attack for them) WITH ANY BODY PART.
Also, people who are used to dogs don’t understand that cats are more subtle in showing anger and annoyance. Learn cat tail language. Cat tails slapping up and down is not excitement, but annoyance. If you continue with that behaviour, you risk getting bitten. Cats don’t ‘bite all of a suddenk like many cat haters say. You just don’t understand them.

Meerkats seem to have a default "DIG!" setting that kicks in every 10-15 seconds
Many animals when stressed and when not knowing what do do may end up falling back on completely unexpected behaviours. My old nature sciences teacher was an ornithologists who specialised in owls and he told us a story about an owl who became so stressed he fell asleep and fell out of his tree.

The fact that Cheetahs just come across as gigantic housecats with their purring and the sound they make when they meow makes me smile
I love cheetahs are very nice cat. They deserve saving and why this cheetah is at the breeding center. He has already fatehred cubs that went to other projects.

I saw something similar. Some bulldog has an itch on his back, so he scares an alley cat which then turns into a blur of eyes and teeth and claws and he puts his back to it and sighs in relief.

Animals are SO brave when 'safe' behind some barrier between them and they feel empowered. Humans are the same. Angry dogs behave the same way... also when on a leash when walking by another dog with their owner. They act tough, but most dogs off a leash or without a barrier are WAY more tactical about their behavior.
Check out this interesting video of two neighborhood dog packs that act tough between a "safe protective gate' but then when that barrier is removed... behaviors change rapidly... :)

These meerkats got out one day I was told; dug out and when they actually encountered a cheetah... they ran their butts back home. Since then, the floor was sealed so they can't dig out.
Just like my puppy! She barks at the dogs at the dog park through the fence but as soon as they walk over towards her she runs away terrified 😅

@@akinoreh Yup I think it is innate in us all... this comfort zone we find ourselves in when sensing some protection that makes us more bold and brave. Sure a whole publication from some psyche Journal could do a study to compare many mammals birds and reptiles behaviors to senses of empowerment and security.

Its so interesting how theyre literally trying to kill the cheetah, but hes just like 'oh sweet! They love me.'
It actually happens rather frequently with different species misunderstanding each other's body language - like dogs misreading cats' swishing tail as a sign of enjoyment, and getting a claw in the nose when the cat decides to make his dislike a bit more obvious.
You have been drinking the Kool-aid. Small animals group together when confronting a larger animal they want to take down. The Meerkats are not doing that. The Meerkats are trying (and succeeding) to groom the Cheetah.

@@Vousie My favourite animal misunderstanding on youtube is a young goat obviously trying to play with an old dog, but the dog does not recognize the headbutting of the goat as play, so growls menacing at it.
This oblivious, sweet Cheetah is the cutest! He is totally misreading the situation, but he feels loved and gets groomed, those tiny, sharp fingers must feel so nice. And he walks away happy. I just love him.

JD Bandy One of my friends as a kid was super allergic to cats. I had four. It was back in the day when you had A Computer in the house and hanging out showing each other stupid things on the internet was how teens hung out. So he'd try to tolerate hanging out in the living room for a bit before his allergy symptoms flared up and then we'd go hang out in the attic. But I have a very distinct memory of one of my cats making a total beeline for him and his face instantly swelled up so he looked like the phantom of the opera and he had his hands up like a hostage whilst she affectionately rubbed herself all over him. He couldn't touch her so I had to pull her off. Of course she dug her claws in and hung on to his shirt for dear life before I could detach her like "nooooo I don't wanna goooo!!! he doesn't smell enough like me yet!!!!". Poor guy.
Lol I’m allergic to cats and my roommates each have one. They’ve been my favorite animal since I was three but sometime around 12 years old I suddenly developed an allergy to them and it was the saddest thing ever. But it is definitely funny how my roommates cats interact with me. The boy I’m pretty sure is just needy all the time so I don’t take his mewing at me and rubbing against me for pets are special treatment. However the girl, who is my favorite and I instantly fell in love with her the second I saw her, CONSTANTLY mews at my door. When I actually open it and go outside my room (since I don’t let them in and can keep my room allergy-free) she just rubs up against me for a couple minutes before going away and letting me back in my room for another 15 minutes. She doesn’t really like being petted all that much and I’m pretty sure she hates being picked up, so my hesitance to touch her all that often (every time I pet her I have to immediately wash my hands afterwards to prevent the dander from getting to my face, which is when my allergies really act up) I think makes me the perfect human companion for her 😂
Fucking true, mate. I am definitely not a fan of them and don't want to have any contact with them at all times. (I dislike their too opportunistic nature compared to most other animals and have some kind of phobia for cats even though I love other animals) but those fuckers are always seems only interested in me when I am at my friends house and ignore all those all cat lovers who pets them and lift them up always comming back to me. I hate that.

@@maquenzieberriz4032 I have a cat who's the complete opposite of the female cat you mentioned. Super needy and she keeps licking at whichever portion of your skin is within close proximity. It can sometimes get annoying when I'm on my phone and she shows and starts licking my fingers.

Just like most collared, leashed, or fenced in dogs. Pretty tough until the gates come down. These meerkats actually escaped once and after encountering a cheetah, ran home. Now their enclosure has sealed floors.

Because I believe (though I know I could be wrong) that these meerkats are conflicted by thier natural impulsion to be terrified, but given the case and circumstances they are presented with, perhaps they are fighting their natural instincts, therefore it looks like they are being aggressive but really they are trying to open up? When the cheetah jumps at the cage @ 1:01, it is being playful, so notice how the meerkat copies that behavior. You can see some aggression but I think that is there instinctively.

Cheetah purrs have healing properties similar to a human made ultrasound machine. The frequency is at a level that is confirmed to heal bone and tissue that is damaged and why some think cats purr. They purr nnot only when content but in pain as well. It is also relaxing like you say and designed to calm any tense moments when they meet you or each other and tell the mother that their cubs are feeling ok.

NO... a cats purr has been proven to not only relax people and give an ASMR response but the frequency actually has soft tissue healing abilities. Similar to an ultrasound machine. Cats will purr when they are in pain, like a female in labor.
I actually have a video that's just an hour or so of just purring, but with small cats. I wish I could find something similar for big cats
When my cat was alive she used to be on my belly and purr when I had cramps. She knew I was in pain and man it felt so relaxing and it actually helped ease the pain. Also when I'm depressed or had a back ache my cat would purr on me. It does help
