  • Tree fork slingshots cost nothing and make great hunting, survival tools. In this video we used a downed oak to select our forks from it's important to select timber strong enough for the strain of the bands most hardwoods will be fine. The bands we used are green gzk flatbands, most sheet latex can be cut to make power hunting bands. I used my siky saw and swiss army knife to make mine, paul used his mora knife and draper saw to make his, very basic tools can be used as ypu can see from the video

    I like shooting naturals cos they’re mostly held in the thumb brace position which I seem to do best at, for some reason I seem to have less luck with say pinch grip or hammer grip.
    This has inspired me to go out on a fork hunt for that perfect natural...

      I have never liked hammer grip. Doesn't work for me at all, and I find it uncomfortable.
      I like pinch grip a lot, but I also like brace.
      A lot of people like the brace grip more. It seems more natural to hold level with brace.

    I’ve been finding that since I’ve been making natural slingshots Id rather shoot them more than my others I’ve spent money on. For some reason they just shoot good and if you get one that fits the hand just right there is nothing better.

    Should have used a push cut, away from you, rather than a pull cut towards you - not just for safety, but because you want the ends of the fork tips neatly cut away from the forks. What you did was to go around the fork-tips, not creating a very smooth edge for the rubber,

    • @CatapultCarnage
      @CatapultCarnage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are Japanese pull cut saws so push cutting would be an issue. Anyway they done the job

    • @CatapultCarnage

      If you mean rounding over the tips with the knife it makes no difference if I carve towards me or away from me, my purpose here was to make a quick, functional slingshot which I achieved

    Should be titled: "Why, when on the way to or from school/work/aunt Tilly's house, etc., because at any moment the SHTF, you should carry with you 1. Knife 2. Saw 3. Pouch for slingshot 4. Precut bands for a slingshot"
    Yes, let's carry these items every time we leave our homes because we'll never know when SHTF will happen, and of course we'll need to be near to a forest where there are trees from which to fabricate a slingshot fork. That really would've helped those folks of 9/11, right? And other folks who live in CITIES when SHTF.

    • @CatapultCarnage
      @CatapultCarnage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A small knife, saw and rubber band is hardly a taxing thing to carry, considering that you can make a simple yet effective shooting tool with it. And yes your right a slingshot wouldn't have helped the victims of 9/11
