Wow, that was really great, thanks... I was under the impression that when using AWS Lambda, Amazon did not meter/charge for the time the Lambda was waiting. Going back to the Lambda Pricing documentation, this point is not clear, perhaps intentionally. I really appreciate you revealing this subtle point... I completely agree with you that cloud providers should fix the pricing structure, or at least clarify it better.
Overall, this is a really valuable presentation in its clarity on the important issues. Thank you for not talking about micro-services.

just to understand the p100 it means that in the event im the unlucky person where lambda will cold start me i might wait a few seconds to get a simple web page?

We can solve the cold starts using provision capacity and having some primers to preload based on service use-case.
Only drawback I see is the autoscaling will take a hit, since the lambda instance will take some extra time to get ready, due to primers.

Is BBC totally on AWS? Or are they using their own servers or some other providers too?

Strange why he did not take observability into consideration for one single second.

All this technical effort just so that the editors spread propaganda day to day 😂. BBC for a reason 🤫
