When you lose to someone you look down to it can produce two different results. Either you Become extremely humble and never underestimate others or you call it a Fluke to try to heal your shattered Ego 🤷🏻♂️
Usually the latter for high performing athletes though because they're around so many Yes Men especially in an individual sport like MMA It's the sad reality of it all but look at a vast majority of Champions or highly promoted fighters whenever they lose (Ronda, Joanna, TJ, Brock Lesnar, Rampage when he was younger etc.) And I get it you need to have that mindset that you're unbeatable but it can also backfire on you as well Not saying that all fighters are like this but a vast majority who are highly promoted or are champions for a while are
The former reminds me of GSP's loss to Matt Serra. He openly said he didn't train as hard as he should and took the whole thing easy cause he undersstimated Serra. His loss was an eye opener to never do that again
TJ "you tko'd me but you didn't beat me. I was out for a moment and couldn't defend myself but you didn't beat me. The L on my record is from losing to you but you didnt beat me" Dillashaw
Conor complaining about Herb Dean not standing them up is hilarious. Herb also ddd nothing about the 30 some fouls that Conor committed, including a knee the the side of Khabib's head that freed Conor of a kimura
@Nicola Maxwell that's exactly how it works. You're the challenger and you are trying to take what he's got. Especially if you know that you're in your 40's and it's probably your last shot at the title. Romero was a disappointment.
@Nicola Maxwell how was izzy worse? At least he threw something even if it was just leg kicks, all Romero threw was one overhand. Then he just stood still the rest of the fight.
@@bez1196 I think they're both to blame. Romero should have realized that he needed to actually try and win the fight but Izzy also didn't do anything outside of some leg kicks. Also Izzy was saying how he wanted to be the first guy to finish Romero, you gotta take some chances and izzy didn't take any. They're both at fault
I thought Cody Garbrandt would be on this list for his loss against Dillashaw, then said at the presser afterwards : *"He won, but i'm still the best fighter"* lol
I’d say that Sean was right in saying he did nothing wrong. What happened to him genuinely was a freak accident that you can’t train for or work to keep from happening. If it happens, it happens, there’s really nothing you can do about it. Obviously every fighter tries to keep leg kicks from landing because they don’t want damage building up over the fight, but no fighter expects a single kick to instantly disable their leg. If they did and that was something that was a regular occurrence, mma would look completely different. Telling him to change how he fights to keep that from happening again would actually detrimental to him because the only way he could eliminate the possibility of that ever happening again would be to become obsessively protective of his legs like taking a single hit could end the fight. That wouldn’t be effective because in 99.999% of cases, a single leg kick won’t end a fight. If he fought like that, being overprotective of his legs, he would have to give up on ever trading for a better hit or takedown because he might often have to weather a leg kick to get that trade. I think anyone who fights or knows anything about this sport can agree that would be detrimental to him or any other fighter.

Everyone in every professional field has a process. It's how they make sense of the things they must do to succeed. Sometimes those things include being delusional. Chael P. once said, "When you do an interview as a pro athlete, you aren't giving a deposition, you aren't under oath, you can say whatever you want and pretend to believe it."
Yo my man, please stop telling me to have a good day, most times I'm watching this channel is because I had a bad day and wanna see someone having a worse day than me, thank you.
Luke is the most frusturating one. Dude has an insane amount of natural talent and athleticism and yet still hasn't learned to not drop his hands and still fucking backs up in a straight line. Insane. I think the guy is training with Jason Parillo which is great. If anyone can get past his arrogance and get him to use effective fundementals it's Jason.
Many of these guys could've been so much more successful if they had had a different mindset. This is one of the things that separated GSP from all of these guys. He was always aware of his own imperfection and took each of his rare losses very seriously, using them as pointers on how to get better. Never would you hear him say that he did everything perfectly. On the opposite, he would often point to moments in the fight where things could've turned bad for him. When I look at a guy like BJ Penn, I see a guy who, despite having achieved a lot robbed himself of achieving significantly more because of both laziness and his inability to accept that he wasn't actually entitled to win. Yes, you're talented, more so than most other fighters on the roster, including champions. But that doesn't mean you're a better fighter at that moment. If you get beat, it tells you something. There's a message in there, which you chose to ignore at your own peril. The same goes for the Diaz bros. These guys are extremely good and tough. I've counted them out many times but pretty much every time I thought they'd get destroyed, they actually hung in there and presented a legitimate challenge to whoever they were fighting. But they've always been too stubborn. They refuse to acknowledge that maybe their training and skillset aren't the very tip of the spear. That maybe, they can still improve. Instead of accepting the lesson from their losses, they decided to just point the finger at literally anything, and keep doing exactly what they've been doing. Well that's how you get left behind by the sport. As soon as you decide "that,s it, what I do is the proper way to do things" and stick to this belief even when you get proven wrong, you're doomed. And this is true for anything, not just combat sports..
I never understood the idea that the leg kick/ nerve damage thing was bullshit. That’s like saying its bullshit that when you got kicked in the head, you got knocked out.
I have a video suggestion Fighters who can do no wrong ( fan favourites and carry themselves with utmost class) Eg: Robbie Lawler Stephen Thompson Dustin Poirier
1 year later and a new excuse for Yoel Romero losing is that he thought it was a 5 round fight and not a 3 round fight. Something I really think any fight would know going into a fight.
So why did Yoel play it safe lol? The fact is both of them respected each other too much.. Izzy respected the power and as Romero decided to not engage Izzy chose to fight safe and stay on the outside and win on points.. While Yoel respected the counter striking too much and I can count on one hand, the times when he actually threw something with intent.. He wasn't even tired AT ALL after 5 rounds.. When has that ever happened with Romero.. He always gives it his all but not that night and then acted like a sore loser
@Ocasio-Cortez4prez2022 good point. Aside from waiting for a counter, his only real tactic to land shots was to shoot in for a takedown/clinch and land some shots during the scramble.
Everyone mentioned on this list can learn a lesson about humility from Robbie Lawler’s “loss” against Ben Askren and how he conducted himself afterwards

You can barely call them fights

When you lose to someone you look down to it can produce two different results. Either you Become extremely humble and never underestimate others or you call it a Fluke to try to heal your shattered Ego 🤷🏻♂️
Usually the latter for high performing athletes though because they're around so many Yes Men especially in an individual sport like MMA
It's the sad reality of it all but look at a vast majority of Champions or highly promoted fighters whenever they lose (Ronda, Joanna, TJ, Brock Lesnar, Rampage when he was younger etc.)
And I get it you need to have that mindset that you're unbeatable but it can also backfire on you as well
Not saying that all fighters are like this but a vast majority who are highly promoted or are champions for a while are
The former reminds me of GSP's loss to Matt Serra. He openly said he didn't train as hard as he should and took the whole thing easy cause he undersstimated Serra. His loss was an eye opener to never do that again
Great video Tom loved it!
When did Izzy took the blame for that fight with Romero? He did exactly what Yoel did. He blamed Yoel, Yoel blamed him.
He didn't accept the blame but he definitely got some of it
@@bez1196 not when you talk like Izzy did. The guy said he was going to destroy Yoel and then got scared by one punch.
Everyone is saying that O'Malley should have checked that leg kick. But he should have checked his pride and ego also.
Fighters need to learn to always be students even when they are champions. They will never be perfect fighters even if undefeated.
O malley needs to learn and take notes from Anthony Joshua and his loss to Ruiz

Colby " I slipped on a banana peel " Covington
Tj is a cheater on EPO, f him
I’d say that Sean was right in saying he did nothing wrong.
Bisping not only took Luke "Outcold" Rockholds title he took his soul as well i dont think he's won a fight since and had his jaw broke a couple of times.
he beat David branch, and then nothing but bad bad ko losses

Everyone in every professional field has a process. It's how they make sense of the things they must do to succeed. Sometimes those things include being delusional.
Chael P. once said, "When you do an interview as a pro athlete, you aren't giving a deposition, you aren't under oath, you can say whatever you want and pretend to believe it."

Rousey getting knocked out twice was the best UFC moment
Nate won the second Conor fight in my eyes.
Prediction : Mai fewt was a balllewwn

Fighters who can do no wrong ( fan favourites and carry themselves with utmost class)
Eg: Robbie Lawler
Stephen Thompson
Dustin Poirier
1 year later and a new excuse for Yoel Romero losing is that he thought it was a 5 round fight and not a 3 round fight. Something I really think any fight would know going into a fight.
7:55 Yoel hurt Izzy in the first rd that’s why he played it safe
So why did Yoel play it safe lol? The fact is both of them respected each other too much.. Izzy respected the power and as Romero decided to not engage Izzy chose to fight safe and stay on the outside and win on points.. While Yoel respected the counter striking too much and I can count on one hand, the times when he actually threw something with intent.. He wasn't even tired AT ALL after 5 rounds.. When has that ever happened with Romero.. He always gives it his all but not that night and then acted like a sore loser
Izzy floyd Mayweathered him
@@TheAirRunner1 No he didn't. Floyd dominates his opponents in a boring manner. Izzy didn't dominate shit
Noel Runega floyd: point fights and runs away. Izzy against Romero: point fought and ran away.
@Ocasio-Cortez4prez2022 good point. Aside from waiting for a counter, his only real tactic to land shots was to shoot in for a takedown/clinch and land some shots during the scramble.
