In case you don't look at comments but do look at replies, i put the following here :
Yesterday, i asked you a question (for the 2nd time) and again, got no response. If the reason is that somehow, the law prohibits you from giving publicly the name of that person who (you said) has given wrong advice and therefore, has "screwed up the mind of a million people", then, you should just say so and make it possible to give the name in private. After all, don't you want that person to stop giving bad and dangerous advice to others ??
I've looked at a few videos you made recently and saw the following : combining 5 videos (about tips and advice) done in the last 4 weeks, there is a total of 271 comments (excluding the replies from others) in which you only responded 2 times when receiving $ and 1 time (4 weeks ago) simply to tell someone he was wrong. To me, this is clearly not very respectful and/or professional toward those who take time to watch your videos + take time to write you something. Not saying you should respond to ALL who comment, BUT you certainly could answer those who ask you things and at the very least, react (with a like) to those who thank you for whatever reason.
Going back further in time, i can see that you had a lot more views on your videos. But i also saw that you used to react + respond a lot more than recently. What happened to you man ?? Your channel is clearly in decline and your attitude sure doesn't help. You do give good tips and advice but your personality is lacking imo.
You can take criticism to help you grow as a person, or you can let it make you become bitter. Your choice.
The heartbeat analogy is 200% right! Never ever try to overtake your skill level..
Love this!! Thank you for this info. This is one of the reasons why my husband and I won't ride with our HOG group. They only care about getting from point A to B no matter their formation. One guy is forever crippled because he wanted to show off in the curves. He went down hard and nearly took out 4 of his group. He got airlifted while in a coma. Six months later he woke up. He will never be able to walk or ride again.
We have done group rides and we usually take up the rear so we can enjoy ourselves.
Thank you again for all of your videos.
This almost bit me in the butt on my first road ride EVER after getting back into moto after 25 years (was only dirtbike when younger) and was with a group... was way too close to the yellow line on an outside left turn and a big pickup came around the corner with trailer mirrors; I had to stand the bike up quickly to avoid getting a mirror to the head, which led to me pointing straight towards a mountain drop-off with no guardrail.
Thankfully, I gained control and resumed the turn before going off the edge, but I was going way too fast for my noob experience at the time (which is comically slow). But, thankfully also had a "sweeper" experienced rider sticking with me in the back and we both had Sena, so could chat as we caught up to the group... that made it a lot easier to relax. I thanked him profusely and still appreciate it to this day.
Not only ride your own ride, but be the guy that helps that new guy and make a friend in the back of the line by volunteering to be the sweeper.
Keeping up, going faster in corners. It’s all about ego. I ride a triumph speed triple 1050 but I’m in no hurry to die ✌️&❤
Also, the mechanics of following someone will always make it harder on the following rider. If your starring at the guy ahead then you aren't looking at the road, the guy ahead sees and reacts to things you don't yet see. Now instead of reacting to things normally, you are a reaction time slow. his reaction time. (this can vary rarely work in ur favor)
If you are really following them, any mistake they make, you also make, and you have a probably crashing bike ahead in ur stop zone when he overcooks a corner you are following him into.
I've rode with a guy that seems to only believe in flat out and stopped ,problem was he would jump ahead of a car on the freeway and take the exit. So now I'm behind him, having to get infront of that car because I'm trying to keep the group together, then he suddenly jumps onto the offramp. My choices are slam the breaks and go behind it and risk whats behind me. Or drop a gear and jump infront. then make a hard turn on brakes... none of them are with my saftey factor anymore hence I don't ride with that guy anymore.
Its not a racetrack. conditions are constantly changing and worse case is you get worse conditions than the guy your following and have to follow something that is already outside both ur skillsets, or just plain impossible.
If you get anxious about directions, aka not knowing where you are, then get a gps. a simple phone mount will mean you don't have to worry if the leader fucks off to who knows where. Every time you find yourself following someone dangerously, figure out the reason and figure out a way to counter it. worried about losing the group, have a designated destination agreed upon first. worried about fuel, riding fast aint helping. not gonna order at the same time at the restaurant call the guy ahead and have him order for you lol. (done that)
better yet the inexperienced rider should lead if ur going on a casual cruise. can't give advice if havn't seen em ride.
More outstanding information! This is something I had a hard time with 50 years ago. It's a tough thing to accept and practice for a new rider, but one's well-being depends on it. Put your pride and personal feelings aside. There will always be someone who has more ability. Learn at your own pace, not someone elses.
Really appreciate this message!
Ride your own ride, good advice 👍
I am very susceptible to this, and it's why I don't ride in groups anymore.
Usually large groups of sportbike rider events on Social Media tell everyone at the meeting spot what kind of ride it is beforehand. If they are going on a fast / intermediate / advanced ride through the twisties they will tell everyone so you don't have to worry about it and keep riding at your own pace. The fast riders usually don't invite people to those rides unless they know your skilled and are wearing full gear. Group rides on the interstate that are riding in a straight line always has some goofballs going way too fast but its in a straight line so not much to worry about.
I wish I had watched this before my ride today. I'm ok, but I fear that my bike got something wrong while I was trying to keep up with the rest of the group, and the engine fault indicator sent me a clear message that I was doing the wrong thing... I will remember the words I heard in this video, thank you for sharing it
I remember hearing "ride your own ride" 18 years ago, and it's as true today as it was then... and before.
I love the messages in this.
Word. Went out for a ride with a friend and was doing 80 on freeway. I didn’t ride for weeks after this. Def was out of my comfort zone, thanks for the reminder.
Two additional thoughts:
1) If any of the other group members try to push you to go faster and don't accept when you tell them you have already maxed out, leave the group.
2) If you are leading the group, go slower than alone and check your mirrors how the rest is doing. Being the group leader is the only situation where you are no longer riding your own ride, but you are riding the ride of the whole group.
Hmmm, yeah. Guess what lesson I learned the hard way. Solid advice folks.
If you crash, please don't take anyone else out..thank you 😅
During the start of my motorcycling "career", I learned very quickly not to bother with group rides, as the ego on some riders beggars belief, and anyone with an ego that big real or imagined, but definitely do not want to be around. I'm more content to ride with my missus anyways...her on a bike, and me on mine.
Didn't you just question if people were following better riders and pushing themselves outside their comfort zone?
This part isn't right, "no one will pay for your mistake but you". Often someone else will pay if you ride recklessly on the street, and you'll have to live with that.
wisdom. Watched this twice
are you that dumb that 1 you had to watch this and 2 that you needed to watch it twice
The biggest thing leading to a crash is the imbecilic mind set that you should learn performance riding techniques on the street. Even worse, with your sweet street gal, and not some beater bike. The street is for the display of learned skills, not pushing them to the edge, or exploring. Yeah, yeah, I hear the whine train already, I don't have a track close by, I don't have the money. Well its your life, what's its price? bad habits won't get unlearned, opposed to getting them straight at the beginning from the pro's where you can learn them more safely. 30 years in and what I am talking about has wrecked more friends and riding acquaintances than anything else put together. At the very least, master, and I mean master, braking skills from ALL speeds, before any cornering and acceleration. Longevity comes at a cost, brevity is free.
do not ride with a group that cares chicken strips
Just follow a group of Harley’s, no danger as those bikes can’t corner or brake and are slower than most mini vans.
