For it's time it was photo realistic and has held up well over the years still my favorite golf game
The mixture of drawn character faces and photo-real swing animations is something magical. It’s like the Uncanny Valley but opposite: I know you’re not real but you just came to friggin life!!
This game is so well made and well put together that it manages to make something as uncool as golf become one of the coolest arcade games out there

It's not animation. They used real footage except for the head.
Rotoscoping the golfers' animation was pretty common even on C64 golfing games.
These are simply traced from video reference. No big deal, even in 1996.

The music during the whole: "Player One, tee shot", "Player One, Birdie try", Etc. actually sounds - *_To me at Least_* - like something out of that Super Nintendo game; Pilotwings.

Still amazing how former irem members formed nazca to make games for snk despite them being competitors
Nazca is also responsible for the first metal slug game but before metal slug
Nazca was sorta struggling what title they should release forst, at irem they were known for shmups and their golf games
During the production of neo turf masters they were worrued that it'd be boring so Hiya! (metal slug's composer) went all out with the music to keep it exciting
And they also did this game's predecessor, Major Title, released in the US as the Irem Skins Game
Good on them, the soundtrack is amazing. The neo cd versions sound quality is so much better as well. Wish they would have just ported that version with the Scotland bonus level

The music in this game is too sick.
I love the elevator power jazz. It takes some skill to make golf arcade fun. The game is all in adapting a few simple mechanics to a wide range of course variation. It’s like golf with all the slow parts cut out. The comic book panel ball close ups really sell it. They hit some kind of golden mean where I know it’s cheesy yet I can’t turn away. 😐 🏌️

Lemme tell ya, looking back, this game is a lot of fun, and it looks somewhat futuristic, the models are very detailed and the animations are very smooth and fine, although the voice samples used to terrify me as a kid
I’m honestly now even more impressed with what they were able to do on the Pocket Color version of this game.
I went through the ENTIRE video, and he NEVER got worse than a birdie.

I play this on Xbox one and feel like I'm back in a tgi Friday's during the 90s. It was either this or Golden tee golf in those places, and I totally miss it.
On a side note, this game is ten times better then all the current golf game on the market in 2021. Only the older tiger woods games gave us great game play and cool courses. Everything now just sucks.

Kinda impressive and ironic that this game is the first game Nazca ever made before Metal Slug.
Actually, they made the game "In The Hunt". Yes, it was released under Irem, but the people behind the game left to form Nazca.
I personally love the Tiger Woods PGA tour 2009 game for the Nintendo DS. Kinda easy but extremely fun... and it has a few extra challenges aside from the typical tournaments

Maybe I remember it wrong but there were three different intros to this game, at 0:28 you either get the hole in one like the one here or the golf ball eating sh1t in the bunker or water.

The Neo◇Geo cartridges were crazy expensive, but when you see the quality of the animation, the backgrounds, everything on the screen was handled and done extremely well. The outdoor golf ⛳ courses are gorgeous. Are they expensive, OH YEAH! Are they worth it? That depends on the person. Can you afford to blow that much on a game? A system, a controller? NONE of the stuff for this system was cheap. They did make everything look sensational though.
Still far better value than buying a legit arcade cabinet. Those used to be 2000 dollars or more

Such is my life when playing this game. The only thing I dislike about the game is how hard it is to get the ball in the hole when the pin is still in. You literally have to bounce the ball into the hole, you cannot roll it into it as it will bounce off the pin EVERY time. Dunno why they designed it that way, if you can hit the pin then you deserve to get the ball in.
skins4thewin actually u can, u hace more chances to get it in the hole when u aim the ball at the left of the pin, its some sitty hitbox yea. i scored 8 holes in one but never albatros
