There are a few things we should be talking about. The homeless, having all condos allow young families to live in units on every 5th floor and free daycare on the 4th floor. Having more people enter the medical field, ensure that all of our kids receive an education that leads to a job.

If done correctly Kelowna will be Canada's #1 location for living and visiting.

Even if done incorrectly I still have faith that Kelowna can become Canada's #1 city. If done correctly, it could be the world's #1 :)

@@bigamigo4863 ola amigo, I wish the CFL schedule a team to play football there fulltime. The Kelowna Norse one in New Brunswick would be great to.

What does merely "acknowledging indigenous history" do for the city of Kelowna? Or for anyone for that matter. Why not acknowledge many other people's history?

These are good questions! The culture of a place is largely driven by its majority, so diverse cultural appreciation helps minority populations be seen, heard, and appreciated, instead of forgotten and overlooked. One thing that makes Kelowna *special* is its closeness with First Nation (mostly Syilx) peoples, especially (but not limited to) the West Kelowna Band. First Nation people make up the second highest demographic after European-decendents and (obviously) the longest-term occupants of the Okanagan Valley. I haven't read the document, but my guess is Kelowna is trying to set a new standard for cultural appreciation starting with indigenous history, and if it benefits the community I'd bet we'll see many other efforts for other cultures following it :)

That indigenous nonsens is just a woke blanket statement that does absolutely nothing for the people of Kelowna. How does "acknowledging native history " help keep housing prices affordable, help traffic, homeless,, drug problems etc...
We need more housing, not less. Not sure why this person thinks that just the "development communities" point of view. It's common sense. If they keep trying to intice people to move here yet don't meet the demand of housing prices are going to continue to skyrocket. We need more high rises with 20-30% low income unit requirements.

High rises means condensed living and that just brings more problems. Look at every big city in the country and you will see nothing but problems. Our youth need proper education and not the nonsense that they are learning now. We need manufacturing jobs so that everyone is working so that no one is homeless. We also need to cut back on immigration until our own citizens are all working and paying their taxes. We need strong politicians who are interested in the betterment of Canadian citizens and not party bank accounts. We need the PM and the provincial leaders to work together to increase manufacturing, employment and training, health care and dentistry must be free to all but the health care system must be available to everyone who needs it but to do so we need more health care providers. Manufacturing work on three shifts but health care providers must have four shifts of six hours per worker double shifts are just putting stress on all providers. We need our youth to be taught nation wide the values of a good education and in English this way children who learn reading, writing, arithmetic and respect for each other will create a class of youth that will be more responsible and accountable and respectful.
