Bicycle trails and parks in Calgary are WAY better than Kelowna, you can connect with an extensive trail system from absolutely anywhere in the city and ride for literal hours in a single direction, winters are fine in Kelowna, roads are terrible however. Public transit in Calgary is much better than Kelowna, the LRT is absolutely awesome. Weather is fine in both locations, it CAN be very weird in Calgary though, I've been caught in a sleet storm on a sunny day, then there's the occasional hail storms that make cars look like golf balls. It is expensive to live in Kelowna leading to a large number of people being disenfranchised in a smaller area. If I could afford to leave Kelowna, I would very strongly consider it. Kelowna is growing too fast to keep up with its problems.
No real arguments from me there! Weather in Kelowna is far more consistent. Weather in Calgary is schizophrenic at best! Haha Housing costs in Alberta are far less than they are in here in Kelowna, no question. The problem is land availability, Calgary will eventually double in size over the next two decades because of the amount of land to develop. Having lived there for 18 years, I much prefer the smaller centre. To each their own. Thanks for the insights!
Thank you Pat! Wow, that is a huge move! Let me know if you need anymore insight into either locations. I’ve been thinking of doing a follow up to this one.
@@livelovekelowna really appreciate it! Hadn't heard of Kelowna, but will probably include it in the spots we visit when coming to look in June/July. Most of the "real estate" vids I've seen are resi related. I work for a bank in commercial property finance, is that a fairly large industry too?
@@patsmythe1880 Well if you're from South Africa then you are probably a wine lover. The Okanagan is considered Canada's Napa Valley, so make sure to book some wine tours while you're here. As for commercial banking, there is a lot of building going on here by way of condo buildings and towers. I am not well versed on how active your sector is, but could do some digging if you like ;) Happy to help out.

It's t-shirt weather here in Las Vegas in early February. I never have to shovel snow or mow the lawn, there are many fun things to do, and cost of living in much lower than in Canada. The best weather in Canada is lousy compared to many other parts of the world. Kelowna's weather is only nice when you compare it to other places in Canada. Even Calgary brags about having great weather compared to Edmonton and Winnipeg.

@@livelovekelowna nice you wouldn't like it now don't no if you liked it then but Penticton is a shit hole now with all the junkies and crime. The stupid bike lane that is more accident prone..the junkies use the bike lane for there carts u might see one or two bikers on it if that.
@@chantellegattrell7073 I've been there quite a few times since we made the move from Calgary last year. It's still a cute town, not a place I think that is right for our family at this point though. It's a shame to hear it has taken a turn
There’s no doubt about that! There’s about a $400,000 difference in average pricing between the two cities with Calgary coming out on top. We just sold a 2000sqft two storey (basement unfinished and not included in the square footage) home in Sundance for $580,000, that same house here would be listed in the $850-$950k range!!

I am a Calgarian considering becoming a Kelownan.
We should talk. I’d love to hear your reasons why and compare notes 😉
