Piri was my first introduction to Dreamcatcher. It popped up as a random song recommendation on Google Play Music (before it was YT music) back in 2019 while I was driving and I absolutely loved it. When I got to a redlight I grabbed my phone and liked it and then promptly forgot about it by time I got home. It wasn't until over a year later that I rediscovered Dreamcatcher with Scream and fell down the Dreamcatcher rabbit hole. If you're really starting to appreciate their voices in their title tracks, then you'll really enjoy their b-sides. Their b-sides tend to show off their vocals a lot better since they do so many different genres of music. They've got some beautiful ballads and some really great chill and vibey songs where their voices really shine.
dreamcatcher \:D/ piri is a type of korean flute so blowing the piri is like a way to send a sos so they can find themselves to escape. the last two, what and piri are more light on plot. I think the original story was only planned out for the first 4 but since the series was popular they just decided to extend it. so in what and piri, they are just trying to escape from the nightmare universe. some fans call 'breaking out' as the alternate ending since it has a similar theme. I mentioned it before, the nightmare they are referring to in the series is about being stuck in a rut in life, paralleling their situation. it's about no matter how bad things get, one should never lose sight of their dreams and not give in to their darker half. that's why mirrors and duplicates are recurring in so many of their mvs and when you see them running, it's from themselves in multiple scenes. the only one who didn't run was yoohyeon, the one who killed the spider. you can see in one scene she embraced her darker half through the mirror, leading to the mirror turning black. she's actually the antagonist in a lot of their mvs lol, one who gives in to the dark side and creates havoc. there is a stand alone single 'endless night' which basically sums up the message of the nightmare series, in very easy to follow lyrics lol. as for live, gotta sneak in 'wake up' because it's usually and encore song and crowd usually is into it. there are a lot of online concert clips(due to you know what) but since there's no crowd the energy isn't the same. maybe you can check out the lyric video then the live if you want to know the lyrics. my favorite live, bias since I was there, is in LA 2019: th-cam.com/video/MglG81-TDGU/w-d-xo.html
"Piri" is the last part of the Nightmare Arc (their Japanese release "Breaking out" can be seen as an alternative ending). In "What", the girls have been searching for Yoohyeon, and here they find each other again, but in the end they are all stuck in the white dimension. A Piri is a Korean flute that was used historically to signal danger, and that is what Yoohyeon does here when the members arrive. She is the one capturing them one by one, to rescue them and bring them to safety. They are together in the end, but still stuck. Dreamcatcher don't do happy endings. 😉
About live performances…!? I’ve several suggestions, but I’m not able to give all the links right now. I will add later some reply under this 1st message. See you later. 😉
Also... small warning with live performances : Just be careful with official broadcast channels, like Mnet for example... They can claim some copyright issue.
Ok, 1st suggestion : You should search for "(DREAMCATCHER) JUMF 2017 Official Stage". Usually, you don't get live band with Kpop performances, but this festival is an exception. 2017, this means they were still a rookie group with few songs. So this performance is mainly made of covers.
2nd : "INTRO+YOU AND I [2018 DREAM CONCERT]". I don't know think this one is live vocals, and if you are safe to react. But this performance under the rain deserve some form of recognition. You could watch it on your free time at least. 😋 edit : the fancam from the "Rock Music" channel should be safe I think.
3rd : "Dreamcatcher, BANG BANG BANG (BIGBANG) [Jeju Hallyu Festival 2018]." Before watching this, you should check out "Bang Bang Bang" by BigBang. Briefly, BigBang is one of the foundational groups that shaped K-pop into what it is today. Fun fact: Dami changed the lyrics to give it a female empowerment perspective.
4th : search for any videos of "DYSTOPIA Seven Spirits" or "UTOPIA CROSSROAD CONCERT" or "DYSTOPIA CROSSROAD CONCERT." These were online concerts held during the sanitary restrictions when no audience was allowed to attend.
"What is the black stuff?" 🤔 That's a good question actually. In Fly High we can also see black stuff oozing out of the mirror (that Yoohyeon is touching). There may be more instances. Your guess is as good as mine, but I'm just gonna say: it's the stuff of nightmares 😊
They're saying Piri. That's the Korean pronunciation. If you can pronounce 'blow the Piri' in Korean then you've got how to pronounce some of the most difficult consonants in the language. Korean verbs go at the end of the sentence so they're saying 'piri blow'. Korean doesn't have all the little words that English is full of. They're dead btw, so they can't come back to life, but if they overcome the curse they will be able to go to the Afterlife and await rebirth according to Buddhist tradition. If you want to see that happen then you have to watch Breaking Out, their one and only Japanese title track. Sua said Breaking Out is the final part of the story and there's no way I'm arguing with Sua. Once you get to know Sua you'll know exactly what I mean.

Remaining songs from the Nightmare series: Breaking Out (alternative ending), Curse of the Spider (spin-off, 2024 concert version is recommended)
Alright sounds good! Thank You!

There is no difference between r and l sound in korean, all the same ㄹ sound. So it's not mistranslation.
