- In Blumenau in Brasilien feiern die Nachfahren deutscher Einwanderer ausgelassen Oktoberfest - mit Trachten, Bier und viel Wurst. Nach dem Karneval von Rio gilt das Oktoberfest als das zweitgrößte Volksfest Brasiliens.

Es gibt viele deutsche Einwanderer in Südbrasilien und es gibt Städte in Santa Catarina, in denen Deutsch die zweite Sprache ist.
ja finde die tradition toll, ist aber amusant zu sehen das auch norddeutsche auswanderer, sich mit bayrisch identifizieren 😅.

Als ich in Brasilien lebte, war ich drei mal in Blumenau. Leider gab es damals noch kein Oktoberfest. Aber trotzdem waren es beeindruckende Erinnerungen. Man glaubt dort, in irgend einer deutschen Stadt zu sein! Fachwerksbauten, nette Leute, gute Restaurants, mit deutsch kann man sich dort verständigen.
Ist deutsch da Amtssprache? Weil wurde ja von Deutschen gegründet?!

People in Rio are not depraved. Their culture is also beautiful and their people is warm and nice. Rio is the only Imperial city of the Americas. It was once the center of the Portuguese empire and has tons of architecture pearls from those times. Even though I also find the Carnival very beautiful, it's bias to assume all cariocas are depraved because of that. They also cherish family values and have other interests in life. And to be honest there is where the culture original from Brazil was created: the samba, the bossa nova, etc.

@@b.verdun123 Eu não sou carioca. Eu sou BRASILEIRA. Nascida em João Pessoa, criada em São Paulo e moro no Sul há 6 anos. Sou apenas super fã do Rio, como turista, apesar dos problemas. Acho q todas as regiões do Brasil tem seus apelos, q são diferentes. Eu valorizo a diferença, mas particularmente gosto do Rio porque apesar dos problemas o q tem lá não tem em nenhuma outra capital do Brasil. Tem natureza, de praia e montanha, cultura, história... E o povo é maravilhoso. O carioca é super dado, super comunicativo. Nem se compara com o povo aqui de Curitiba onde eu moro hj em dia. Não quer dizer q não gosto daqui. Curitiba tem outras qualidades. Mas eu amo o Rio. Conheço pessoas de lá trabalhadoras, q tem interesses diversos.

O q era Blumenau in 1808 quando os reis e a nobreza de Portugal chegou ao Rio para dali fazer a capital imperial? Ali Dom Pedro II construiu o Jardim Botânico. Ali Getúlio Vargas se matou. Vc já visitou o belíssimo Palácio do Catete no Rio? O Real Gabinete Português considerada uma das bibliotecas mais lindas do mundo? O Rio não é só praia, Carnaval e favela. Ali nasceu a Bossa Nova. Blumenau é charmosa sim, com sua arquitetura alemã, mas uma não tem nada a ver com a outra.

Die Region entstand durch die deutsche Einwanderung, ich lernte eine Dame kennen, die nur Deutsch sprach, kein Portugiesisch gelernt hatte. Heute geht es natürlich mit der Zeit verloren, aber die Party ist geblieben und die Leute und Touristen gehen am Ende so weiter, wie es in der Partykultur war. Niemand läuft so auf der Straße, es ist praktisch eine Kostümparty, wenn man in typischer Kleidung geht, zahlt man keinen Eintritt.
Es ist ein ursprünglich deutsches Fest. Viele liebe Grüße aus Deutachland

The fest itself is nice, nothing wrong about it, but still, I find it funny how some people here rant when foreigners have a stereotypical vision of Brazil, but feel super free about stereotyping other cultures (showing sometimes an appalling lack of knowledge of their own history).
These people descend primarily from immigrants who came from Pommerania, Hamburg and Rheinland. Note the absence of elders and actual German speakers (who are indeed a large community, as German [ including variations like Pommersch, Plattdüütsch and Hunsrükisch] is the second most spoken mother-tongue in Brazil, with 4,5 million speakers) as a factor of lack of identification of the traditional German-Brazilian population with the fest (that actually only exists since 1984). Question is: why are they emulating Bavarian stereotypical regalia? Answer is: Boosting local tourism and beer industry. That has been really successful by the way.
(note: Recently, other places with large German communities are trying to replicate it, such as here in Curitiba, where most of the German immigrants were... Volga Germans).
Não tem problema ter falta de conhecimento, o problema é quando vc leva como uma verdade, a visão externa do Brasil é bunda, samba, Carnaval, futebol e praia. Agora quando fazemos uma festa em honra aos descendentes alemães eles ficam bravos porque a festa faz menção à uma região distinta da que os reais imigrantes vieram? Sim, é errado, mas é algo bem mais complexo estudar a onda de imigrantes de um país, diferente de saber a cultura de um outro país que é algo fácil. Então não vem com esse papo de brasileiro ter falta de conhecimento de algo super profundo quando os gringos não têm conhecimento básico do Brasil.
Every festival has been invented at some point. Also, there are several volksfest in many different towns and there were a lot of Austrian and Tirolese immigrants in the region, which you've failed to mention and that brought the Bavarian-similar regalia. In Europe itself there are plenty of München's Oktoberfest copycats (as in Vienna, for instance).
While I dislike the campy/kitsch costumes (probably even more than you), I don't think this festival is "fake" in any meaning.
Your point is absolutely moot and is probably just a cope because you feel excluded or you just dislike Santa Catarina's German community.

In Blumenau gibt es viele deutsche Nachkommen, einige der Älteren sprechen nicht einmal Portugiesisch
Schön für sie, dass sie feiern, nur auch ganz schon stereotypisch. Keine Ahnung wo die meisten der deutschen Einwanderer damals herkamen aber der Namensgeber des Ortes war aus Sachsen-Anhalt und nicht aus Bayern.

Warum? das oktoberfest ist nicht das einzige fest im oktober. Jedes deutsche Dorf hat seine eigene Fest, jede mit ihren Unterschieden.

Es gibt viele Festen in dieser Region, aber das Oktoberfest ist stärker gewachsen als die anderen. bist du preußisch ? Borussia-Fan? Ich war dort im Pommerschen Museum in Pomerode, sehr nett. aber sie haben sehr gute schwarzwälder kuchen! 😂 Es ist schwierig, bei der Migration für reine reine reine Wurzeln zu sorgen. Sie beginnen ein wenig zu mischen. aber Santa Catarina ist ein deutscher Staat, sicher! Ich weiß nicht den Namen aller Festen, Sie müssen sich selbst versuchen.

Mentira, a grande maioria dos imigrantes alemães eram da Renania, Sarre, mas também houveram pomeranos e bávaros também, os primeiros imigrantes em 1823 na serra gaúcha vieram de Hamburg, mas depois vieram em maioria os renanos

It's on purpose, it's a way of attracting tourists for the festival... imagine holding a brazilian party in Europe, of course they would play "Samba" and put ladies dancing with shiny clothes ... that's not the only culture in Brazil, I bet you never heard about CTG's, Frevo, Barretos, Caprichoso e Garantido, Galo da Madrugada, Sertanejo, Tecnobrega, Capoeria, MPB, etc...

It's a stereotypical party because it wasn't part of the original culture of German immigrants from Blumanau. Most of the Germans who colonized the region came from the Rhineland region and a part of ancient Pomerania, and Oktoberfest was created only in 1984 for tourism purposes to boost the economy after a terrible flood that year that destroyed part of the city.
Hier bei dir bestätigt sich auch gerade der Stereotyp, dass die Deutschen immer kritisch sind und sich über alles beklagen müssen!
