- We stop in the French Alps on the way to Italy. They are absolutely stunning, and we fell in love with them. But maaaaan are they expensive! We decided to do the top recommended activity in Chamonix, head up the cable car to Aguille de Midi, we read the reviews and debated whether this was a cost we could justify. In the end we decided to do it and bring you guys along for the spectacular views! But the question is... was it worth it?
We also stopped off in Annecy which is the Venice of the Alps, absolutely stunning, we get a beautiful wild swim to cool us off in the scorching temperatures.

⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. So after waiting for six months for the borders to reopen in Ireland we have finally hit the road in June 2021 and spent 90 days enjoying vanlife in Spain. Then we spent the next two months enjoying vanlife in Croatia before heading onto Serbia which stole our hearts. Now we have journeyed from there into Turkey where we are meeting lots of fellow vanlifers.

That was expensive for the cable car, but can understand why, that is a huge height to build and service the equipment. Personally not sure I could go up there, I really struggle with heights so will just enjoy you getting the view for me!

This is a great review of the Aguille du Midi! It is incredible up there, but people definitely shouldn't feel like they have to do it - the first time I went to Chamonix I didn't and never felt like I missed anything. If you do go up, however, I would say it is worth paying the little extra to get the Helbronner cable car too - that is an incredible experience.

Wow wow wow! Amazing. Almost as good as The Jungfrau, at 4,158 meters is one of the main summits of the Bernese Alps. Stunning and well worth it. Take care. X

Really nice video as always thanks guys. France is crazy busy this time of the year hey 🙂 a few years ago we got the 2 consecutive day multi pass for only a few euros more (now its 87) than the singe Aiguille du Midi ticket. Made for some great excursions all around Charmonix. At least it makes the expense somewhat more palatable. Enjoy Italy! We'll be back there middle September hopefully ❤️🇮🇹
Thanks guys, yeah so busy, Italy is the same lol. Think we were blessed travelling last summer because a lot of people still weren't travelling, so was pretty quiet. Now we are reminded of what "high season" really is lol. I think September would be perfect time to do Italy 😍😍
😂 We're actually 'half' Italian - but where possible avoid Italy in summer. Frankly, we don't know where the best destination is for July and August. Just too busy everywhere. We're in South Norway now and everything also feels packed.
@@WeWillNomad I reckon just unappealing sounding countries, where noone ever "dreams" I've travelling, then they are probably quieter and more wild feeling. We are super excited to get back to Serbia soon and enjoy it again in Summer. We LOVED it in Autumn, so excited to see it with blue skies haha

Gotta side with Philly on this one: "WOOOW!" 😱😱😱 *STAGGERINGLY* gorgeous views! Granted, it wasn't my money that you spent, but €70/person sounds a bargain! Your footage genuinely had tears in the corners of my eyes, I would probably be sobbing to see that IRL. Mental note: bring snacks, as I'm sure the food up there is the exact same as in the valley and not worth the markup.

No the hot air balloons in Capadocia, Turkey are £500 (pounds) for two. If I heard you correctly this cable car is $70 or 70 pounds.
The hot air balloon we went on in Pammukale in Turkey was €30 per person, so €120 for all of us. I think Cappadocia can be alot more expensive because it has a lot more richer tourists haha. That's why we just looked at the balloons from the ground there 😂😂

Hi Guys was it ok to sleep in the parking lot at Chamonix near the cable car?? thanks
It was a bit confusing to be honest, we were going off what other people said on park for night. So you get a ticket on the way in, but it's meant to be free out of season or on weekends or something, so when we went to redeem our ticket I was expecting it to say zero, but it didnt so I crapped myself. Then we spoke to another vanlifer who said the barriers are open automatically as it's a free time. So right enough we drove up to the barrier and it just lets you out without the ticket. If you check on park 4 night app you will get more accurate info I wouldn't want you to go get a big parking ticket because of us, so defo check what it says first.

If you use park for night it's #64938 barriers are open out of season. But expensive in season. Right at the bottom of the cable car on map. 🥰🥰

Together 🥰 it's not alot to normal people with good jobs on holiday, but for us travelling on a super tight budget it felt like alot of money 🤣 but was VERY beautiful up there ❤️🏔️

Yeah, hot air balloon was €120 for four of us where we went, much cheaper lol.
First I thought you two were one thousand percent vegan . Some of the food looked to good to be vegan . Especially that sandwich 🥪 . Second why didn't you two just climb up there . Might've taken a couple of weeks but you've got the time . When you think of all the work it took just to get all the material up there by construction workers it was worth the money . I do understand about the budget . Third I just got done saying Keely was probably the best at flying a drone while getting video on TH-cam . Now you tell me it's crashed . Oh my goodness . Fourth throw out the climbing mats and put a washing machine in the van . Philly they've got the ones that are kinda small and Keely could turn a handle to wash the clothes, rinse the clothes . Might take her a day but she probably needs something to do while you relax in the hammock .
Definitely would have taken me a couple of weeks 🤣🤣🤣 and lots of gear haha. Honestly crashing the drone was sooooo stressful, it was an accident, drifted into a tree. Let's just say it was an adventure to try and get it back!! I think we need to start hand washing our clothes in the future lol 🤣🤣
