I think that there’s still a panic in the industry about dealing with hybrid vehicles when they are damaged. For you guys it’s well worth a shot at one of these every so often. Top job! 👏
The thing is, the insurance approved body shops will be estimating on the basis that everything is brand new from the dealer. Plus the cost of materials and labour. That's what writes them off.
@@liamparker8356they write them off because the cost of parts the insurance companies expect discount on the parts and if the job cost say 5k in parts and there's not a lot of hours on the job the bodyshop will write the car off not worth then doing it lots of dealers only let bodyshops have a small amount on account some what payment on delivery better to have a job where there's not much in the way of parts and plenty of repair time +paint
When I saw the temporary fix on the pyro fuse, I thought that was a heads up for people to watch for when they’re buying a repaired hybrid (a “temporary” bypass that stays there), but from the sounds of the video you’re saying that the airbag warning light would give the game away. That’s good news. Looks like you guys are on a big winner here. 👍
Hi Rob and Chris, this is going to turn out to be a very nice result and a nice car. What a bargain, enjoying this one. Airbag guy was brilliant. Alex.
It’s nice when cars are relatively new and bolts are clean and easier to remove 😂 I work on 20 year old cars and most of the time is taken up removing corroded parts!
Rob I know you paid £2900 for the car and the Car Vertical estimate for an undamaged one is approximately 23k but eventually even after it’s gone to the next man to sell (at maybe 15k ?) someone is going to be driving around happily in a basically brand new lovely car! 👍👍👍👍
My wife has an identical car except in black (March 2024 Esprit Alpine Clio Hybrid) The way the hybrid system works is quite interesting, it’s a 4 speed clutch less gearbox driven by the old reliable 1.6 Nissan petrol unit and a dual motor setup, car has no starter as it’s started by an electric motor, has electric AC and coolant pump too! When driving this the engine will cut in and out randomly and it almost acts like a CVT the way it holds revs half the time unless you’re flooring it which is when both the petrol and electric motors provide power for acceleration. Also interesting to note that it won’t always start when you “start the car” depending on battery charge and climate system demand, can drive it in EV only mode up to 30MPH depending on how much juice is in the battery. All in all the Clio hybrid is a great little car! She’s done nearly 10k miles in it since March and loves it.
Guys I’m so jealous of the friends that you have, Josh is a genius , Edwin does the dash and airbags in next to no time and all with a smile on his face, brilliant guys 😊
All Renault hybrids always start in EV mode. Dead handy when you have a flat tyre and ignition turns off after 30 seconds making it impossible to use the tyre inflator repair kit! As for lane assist etc, on Renault cars you have to turn them on as default is off, brilliant idea.
There Rob I use to think you took your time doing the dashboards! JUST JOKING!😜. I hope those parts are not to expensive from the dealer...Cracking when its done...👍
Good content guys love the channel been with you guys years im not a fan of electric cars i will be honest but never the less good bit of stock fair play to you and chris you biyj together make the channel complete both excellent guys andnyour knowledge on cars is amazing absolutely love the channel as you keep it real thank you for uploads
Totally agree with you, Rob and Chris, about using second-hand parts. I work in a body shop, and 9 out of 10 cars that would come in to be fixed, we would be able to source second-hand parts at half of the cost of that they would cost new.
Hello Chris and Rob. I so enjoyed watching this video. The speed at which the dashboard was changed, a gold medal award!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire.
Great to see she is now running and very smooth as you would expect for a new car. Chris, we are all entitled to the odd mistake and good that you can laugh about it as there was no harm done. We all know Josh is good at what he does so well done to him for his work. Well dome also to Edwin for his work in double quick time. We know you are capable of doing it Rob but it is nice to see someone who does it everyday. Now it is just bodywork to do and not too much damage there just a small pull on the Auto Bench. Thanks Rob and Chris for another very interesting video. 👍👍
Fab video guys, never let us down great you both get secondhand parts,Rob and you Chris are the recycling Kings 🤴🏻🥇🤴🏼🥇🤭😂😂 keep up your great work guys 👏🏻🫶🏻
A tip for you guys...any hybrid vehicle if you disconnect 12v battery it will not get in ready to drive mode on first fireup..you have to turn it off and back on ..its normal with prius and axela hybrids or lexus hybrids...cheers loved it i was shouting to check pyro fuse😂
Another cracking video from you both as always. I believe to open the boot from outside there is a button on the bumper between the number plate lights
There are specific EV high voltage courses, mainly around safe working practices… would be worth doing as EV’s may well become a bigger part of your business.
Hello Rob and Chris, brilliant work done on this Renault Clio,we have power and doesn't it go 😅,it will be a nice car.and everyone is after a automatic.
I had an alfa 159 with a leccie fault.Everyrhing told me it was related to the fuses. But the fuses tested all ok. It turned out that when i tested the fuse for continuity the probe was pushing the contact which showed it was good. Two bloody days before i realised lol. The joys
Lads you don’t even realise how hard is to respray this colour is not many body shops take this type of colour on it’s most unpredictable colour it can match from first respray or it can go wrong on 10 th one good luck even blending can go wrong 👌👍
To eat an omelette you have to crack eggs but with this you got the chef to do it for you nice one looking forward to see chris take this down the dual carriageway. nice crack on
Ace video as always. Won't be long before it will be all done and dusted, good work as always. Is Chris scraping the old blue Disco and Viva as I notice they are not in the yard.
I think that there’s still a panic in the industry about dealing with hybrid vehicles when they are damaged.
For you guys it’s well worth a shot at one of these every so often.
Top job! 👏
Love Chris’s honesty and transparency, didn’t need to do that but he did.
Good to see Edwin excel in his profession, and be proud of what he does. An inspiration for others.
Written off due to a damaged n/s/f wing, frt bumper, fuse and some air bags. Is that why insurance is so expensive?
Cars have been written off for airbags for years.
The thing is, the insurance approved body shops will be estimating on the basis that everything is brand new from the dealer. Plus the cost of materials and labour. That's what writes them off.
Main dealer parts main dealer repair prices against value of the car
@@liamparker8356they write them off because the cost of parts the insurance companies expect discount on the parts and if the job cost say 5k in parts and there's not a lot of hours on the job the bodyshop will write the car off not worth then doing it lots of dealers only let bodyshops have a small amount on account some what payment on delivery better to have a job where there's not much in the way of parts and plenty of repair time +paint
its expensive as they want cars off the road.
Love the battery faux pas, just shows we are only human and it happens to all of us! Great video as always thanks guys.👍👍👍
What a belter, great work from Edwin, so professional, as for the Pyro fuse well every days a school day we all learning with new tech well done 👏
Hello Rob and Chris, great little update video. Well done on getting it fixed.
Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.

Looks like you guys are on a big winner here. 👍
I love you guys you deserve this so much,
Chris.
6:00 It's a line from the IT Crowd "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" 😆
Hi Rob and Chris, this is going to turn out to be a very nice result and a nice car. What a bargain, enjoying this one. Airbag guy was brilliant. Alex.
11:04 "I floored it!"...😂😂😂😂
Chris a Legend!
If airbag and dashboard fitting, was an Olympic event, that lad just won gold. 👍
😂
Chris is human after all ! lol great work you make it look easy

I wish I had a good pal I got to work with every day! Love the dynamic between the pair of you - do you never have a falling out?!?!
What a purchase this little rascal was. That air bag geeza was a different level knows his craft fair play lads

Just sat down with some dinner, perfect time!
Shocked at how little damage is needed to write a car off.
Great result so far.
Guys I’m so jealous of the friends that you have, Josh is a genius , Edwin does the dash and airbags in next to no time and all with a smile on his face, brilliant guys 😊
Spot on guys, dashboard man was impressive, looking forward to the finish on this one! 👍
