I think it would've been cool if they had a slider to make the stairs curved so that they can look more elegant. (Spiral like) And the landings should be floor tiles.
Thank you SO MUCH for explaining how to stack the stairs. I tried for like 3 hours and never figured out why I was getting an error about unable to place them. I just wanted the stairs to go from basement to second floor like they do in my real life house, lol. Anyway. Your tip about deleting the walls helped and it worked just fine.
share so Carl gets his dream of better stairway railings. but yeah the stairs are almost flawless i hope this tool becomes a permanent addition to the sims series.
It's been awhile since I've played and even as an experienced builder I found this helpful. I probably would have wasted a little time on the wall error before figuring it out. I'm actually excited to get back to building and renovating now, thank you. 💙
thank you so much! i watched three videos from other people and could not understand and i was finally able to get my stairs to turn after watching your video !!!
Thank you! I just started playing on the Rockridge Springs lot in the eco expansion and was determined to figure out these stairs, I appreciate your swift paced yet clear tutorial!
At this point I'm kind of wishing for a "Custom Railing Tool" or something. Like for my Double Staircase Entryways, I'd like there to be a railing in the middle, but NOT have the middle railing extend to the outer railing of the landing. Sort of a way to separate the left/right stairs, but still be able to have Sims exit either direction when they reach the bottom landing. And of course to have railing period and not have them turn into... 4:01 THAT! YEAAARRGGH! Plus if it was custom, we could have the outer railings be different from the inner railings.
omg ive been trying for 3 DAYS NOW to make one damn Y shaped staircase and my dumbass could not figure it out. this should be called "carl the saint sims guides" cuz i dont even know how many times this channel has taught me something i really needed to know.
Feels so included every time lol it's such a small thing but it makes a huge difference as a viewer. now i know closer to time of realm of magic for the stairs for console players. I'm excited I was inspired to build today ☺🙂
This is sooo helpful for rebuilding my IRL home. We have a U-shaped staircase in our entryway, and there was no good way to mimic that in ts4. Now I just have to figure out how to make an entryway in the middle of the stairs at the landing part... (split-entry homes are very common in my area)
Objects being able to go under the stairs is great. It must explain why suddenly some of my Sims got trapped under a staircase and behind furniture, when they had NEVER gotten trapped there before.
I'm here being heartbroken after failing to delete the middle railing in my double stairs. I just found out today that it's not possible, your video helped me process my grief. Thank you
This is perfect. I love it sooo much. Now if only we had ramps, i like all my community buildings to be "wheelchair accessible" so I use roofs but I really wish ramps were a thing because it never looks just right.
@@allamericanslacker2378 No, they are just roof pieces. That's why I wish actual ramps were a thing. I suppose I can also use terrain tools but I've really stayed away from them. I just haven't quite gotten the hang of them yet.
I can finally create multiple stairs on different places inside the house swirling with long ends. Got some ideas for this update like on putting the toilet inside the first house and food on the second one both top floors only to find out either the toilets are broken and the foods are spoiled huehue.
They should have made the stairs split in different segments that way you can have half levels and also the ability to only put railings on the part of the stairs you want.
I'm new to the game and am trying to figure out how to make stairs. Your video really helped. Yet for some reason... I can't get the stairs to connect to a room with an arched doorway, like you show in this tutorial. I can make the stair case reach the arch and the floor it's opening into, but it won't it won't let me lay the stairs down. It just stays red and says it can't intersect walls... BUT THERE ARE NO WALLS between the stairs and the floor the arch opens in to. I experimented and found that it doesn't seem to like connecting directly to the archway. It will do it if I build at least a one unit platform out from the archway.
@@kureijisatsujinsha Thats the bug. While I was typing my thing in the bug report website, the app solved it on its own. I deleted the origin folder in programdata as a guru suggested but that didnt help. The second advice was to uninstall origin, install the former version where the bug doesnt occur. It didnt help. It made things worse. As I was typing my report I had to upgrade origin to the latest version again and then it suddenly updated my game without the bug. Try it. Maybe it works for you too.
When i try to stack the stairs there's always some kind of ceiling between them and if i try to delete it, it would delete the whole floor. What should i do to solve this?
Man, as much as I love Sims 3, there's some really cool features in the Sims 4 that makes me really want to play it again, but the lack of customisation in clothes and furniture and such really turned me off the game when I played it at launch. Especially the lack of clothing options. How has that situation improved since launch? Is customisation like Sims 3 was? Or is it still the same?
Are stairs disappearing for anyone else?! I'll place a staircase in build mode, but then after placing it and moving on to other stuff in the room, the staircase will appear to not be there. What's annoying is that apparently my sim can still use the staircase, so it's *there* but I can't see it, and nothing I've tried seems to make it reappear. I've got the latest update as well
console player here :D Am not fretting. updates haven't taken as long as ppl think. Either that im used to it because i play a few mmo on console tat don't have cross platform updates. (bdo eso)
Is anyone else getting a problem where - apart from L-shaped stairs, all other stair configurations (u-bend, etc) that I want to make end up with the top stair landing being air & the sim can't actually climb the stairs? All stair types do this! It's very frustrating!

I love comments quoting his quips! I made the same comment before checking if someone had already made it
I think it would've been cool if they had a slider to make the stairs curved so that they can look more elegant. (Spiral like) And the landings should be floor tiles.
Time to go back to my builds and replace some stairs!

Really love this upgrade to the stairs. It's really satisfying to use.
So excited to get this update!! Thanks for always mentioning us lowly console players! I think most people forget about us haha
I always feel so bad that you guys have to wait so loooooong for the updates!

If they let us remove just one side of the railing it would also help straight stairs against the wall.

The video is so good!
You are not wasting my time. You plan everything. You edit it. 99% sure you make the text and read it.

I'm so excited - I've wanted to build my family home, but the staircase was the problem - now I can do it!
I have hunted countless tutorials to try to figure out how to wrap stairs. FINALLY. tytyty

It'd be nice to have that system almost like normal fences that you can delete individually

Thank you Carl! Learning a lot with you! I’m historically a Sims 3 player (builder) and just getting into building in Sims 4!
I didn’t know how to use this tool! Now I do and can make the stairs I need!
This was the most helpful video of my life, thank you, good man

Thank you so much for this video!! I hadn't realized the stairs weren't stacking because of the walls.
maybe they'll add onesided railings at some point personally one thing i still wish they would have added as well are ladders... ONE DAY MAYBE
Thanks a ton, man! That's exactly what I was looking for!
Thanks for the video! I had a hard time creating the u shaped stairs. What I did was terrible and hopefully I get right this time. Thanks again!
As always, Thank you so much for this!
lol "this is not a Sims fashion channel" Carl you are an absolute legend.
you saved hours of my life rn omggg all i had to do was copy the stairs
Yet another very informative video. Thank you so very much. Awesome!
Wow... I been looking for this for a month. Tysm for this tutorial is help me a lot. I 'll sub to your channel.
This should be an option of everything in the sims. Diagonal counters and flipped around shower tubs
Great overview and guide! Thanks!
I needed this, thank you!!!
This was so useful thank you
1:43 love it!!! xD That's so funny xD
Can someone tell me where i can find or do this? When i place stairs the only options are rotate, move and copy

Wow, that's really clever of you.
the problem with the two staircases is that you can't use rails because the rail will then go into the middle of the staircases
Great review! Now we just need the option to put only one side of railing on... like we HAD in Sims 3.
ikr. i miss that option. iirc it was an option since 2. possible 1
Nice feature,
Should have been there at launch.
Thank you for your help ^^
Thank you so much
How do you make the wall under the stairs visible again?
Thanks man
Thankkkkk you for this!!
Also it would be nice to be able to stack the stairs and keep the stair walls intact. Ugh wish Maxis would change that!

Someone needs to make a torture chamber of stairs with the only toilet being on the top of the stairs.
Kureijī Satsujinsha GrayStillPlays has a video of him making a house exactly like that ! 😂😂 its so funny
C.M.M Jimenez Oh my god! Thank you so much telling me!
How do I do this on ps4? I’m only getting the arrows to drag it (wider/narrower)
How do you get rid of part of the floor on the upper level to make the stairs more open like a mezzanine?
Thank you
Hi i need help. The stairs on my staircase doesn't have any toggle for me to bend it. Is there any way you could help me
I wish this tool was available on consoles!😩
I know 😭

Very first! So happy about the update
Why my sims 4 no have that tools for stairs how to enable?
My game never loaded the new tool, does this require an update? Should it automatically appear? I would really appreciate some help
Yep these are base games updates that EA does from time to time so you should always keep up with the latest updates for the newest features
Is there any way to place a staircase diagonally?
Whispering: this is not a Sims fashion channel 😹
If origin werent bugged for me I would try it. Guess I have to wait for a fix.

Mine is saying I do not have enough space for the update. I am pretty sure I should.

@@kureijisatsujinsha Try downloading an older version, install it, dont let it update origin, see if you can update your game.

WOW SI FUNCIONAAAA❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😭😭😭😭😭🤘🤘🤘🤘
Somebody make the stairs scene from The Labyrinth.
How do you make it so there’s no walls underneath the staircase
Ok but like before i place the stairs how do i just rotate them right clicking doesnt work for stairs
Is there not a way to just make the stairs longer?
FINALLY!!!
When is this update on Xbox
I wish they added split levels instead of these configurable stairs. With split levels you could do so much more and this sort of stairs too!

This is not working. I just am trying to add some stairs to the front door of a raised platform house and I can’t do that.
How to make a 3 steps?
How i wish we could only put one side railing on stairs just like on sims 2

Cool, now I just need to remember where I put the power cord to my laptop and I can update and play my game.
I CAN'T WALK UP
Does anybody know what Carl looks like? 27k subs no videos of his face lolz
I’m so mad I’ve been playin sims since sims PC, and I still don’t know how to f**g play 🤨🙁😂
But is this available on console?
Probably in just a few weeks - console lags behind PC a bit :)
