The "doesn't die to ripostes isn't a bug". Malenia originally had a bug where if you riposted her in her first phase and killed her, her second phase would instantly die as well. To fix it, they made riposting her to death impossible.
They should've just kept the former lmao

This doesnt seem nearly as hard though. Malenia AI is super passive and this game is much more open. She will only attack if you get near her first, which makes it easy to avoid the normal enemies. I wanna see a challenge where every enemy is Maliketh.

No, the scalling makes all the difference. If Assylum Gwyn could be beaten with the easiness of the Malenia of Godrick, the first part would have been 5 minutes instead of 40 (I think it was 40)

I feel like the tutorial area made a good job at teaching the fundamentals of the game here. Nice steady learning curve, no pressure lol
Also, Malenia is a lot of things, as it turned out. Glinstone dragon, first Elden lord, Queen of the full moon, all-knowing...A woman full of surprises, that's for sure.
This is probably the best way to explain how your first soulsborne game feels to everyone and it's perfect.

From what I’ve heard, the reason you get 4 phase malenia fights is because unlike every other phased boss, the randomiser devs couldn’t separate her phase 1 from her phase 2. Normally in the rando, any boss which changes enemy (namely the ones which change names between phases) are considered different bosses and can be randomised into different bosses (so for example, beast clergyman could become horrah loux and Maliketh could become morgott in one fight). However, as Malenia, blade of Miquella and Malenia, Goddess of Rot can’t be separated by the rando devs, they both come as a package deal to replace one phase of a two phase boss (or an entire 1 phase boss) in the rando. This means that whenever you run into a 2 phase boss in this run, phase 1 becomes Malenia and phase 2 becomes Malenia.
On the flip side of things, this does mean actual Malenia in randomisers only becomes 1 phase of a 2 phase boss or a single 1 phase boss

Good ranged option for scarlet aeonia: pots. Pots can be used with like, any build, since there’s a pot for every type of offensive stat, including Arcane.
Fire pots and volcano pots in particular for a strength build.

Foreskin Duo is technically 1 boss and not 2 bosses that share a health pool. If you randomise the bosses, they together replace a singular boss and vise e versa

Fighting Melania in Radahn's arena is actually kinda awesome lore wise
This challenge really shows how a boss arena impacts a fight. Obviously terrain and space are important, but even details like terrain elevation can make a difference on a fight. Some arenas are really awesome for the boss they were intented to host, because those fights where created with those things in mind, and become really annoying when fighting a boss that has different movesets

There needs to be a mod that replaces all enemies with the lightning rams except with boss health.
The rendomizer mod should accomodate that, but I haven't looked at it.

15:55 There is. You put your map diamond on the side of the pole and look down at the edge of the collision. Its not 100% but it definitely helps. I typically get it after two or five tries with said method.
this is months late but the reason the catapults weren't firing at you was because they actually need an enemy to be "on" them to activate and the only compatible enemy with the catapult as far as I'm aware are variants of the regular foot soldiers.
Fun video. Gotta love the fact that even after replacing all the enemies with Malenia, he was still so often surprised that enemies had been replace with Malenia.

This is awesome, great work! If you're looking for more "but everything is..." challenges, I'd recommend some form of the Black Knife Assassins. Particularly the ones in Ordina, so that every enemy (wildlife included) becomes invisible. I'm personally interested in how it would change boss fights, because finding them would then become the difficult part unless you manage to get a rainbow stone arrow or something else on them at the start.
Sentry's torch completely negates the invisibility except only in a small area
@@pyrow1059 Yeah exactly! There are ways around the invisibility that trivialize it but you have to get to them first. It's probably a far easier challenge than this one, but I've said that before about challenges that ended up near-impossible so I'm just curious how it would turn out.

I had the champion from Valcank mountain help me with Godskin duo... I also had a high level mimic cry... So the duo wasemt hard 4 me really... Now the three bosses in a row... Which was Dragonlord Flax than the Tree Sentinal before the Beast Clergyman/ death blade guy ... Those three in a town within a 2 minute walk from eachother was ridiculous.

Little trick I found out. If you finish her off with a reposte she'll still do the animation where she stands up. If you let her FINISH the animation she'll enter her second phases below half health. Most people panic hit her when she stands back up so they don't learn this

From what I have seen of the randomiser The Serpent Hunter works on The serpent and rykard, not the boss room. So it wouldnt work
I like the idea of every enemy except bosses being the Spirit Snipers of Siofra, or the Redmayne Knight outside Gael Fortress.. all the arrows.

You are IN-sane! 🤣🤣 I'm not even gonna begin to discuss the nicknames I had for her... When they went back and fixed everything too, they basically just took what little the player did have to their advantage. They dialed back the bosses like a smidge but then took everything from the player. I stopped playing and went back over 8 months later, and I was doing less damage to her than before with my same weapons. I guess I should have just beaten it back then while I was at it...
