The reason that Captain America gave Nick Fury ten bucks is actually a reference to the previous movie. Steve said nothing would surprise him anymore and Fury replied 'ten bucks says you're wrong'. That's why Steve randomly gave him money (although some of the other headcannons I've read about it are pretty damn hilarious too)
MCU movies are much more funny than people give them credit for. Especially because lots of the humor is just funny lines that feel pretty much in character for whoever says it.
I think that’s also the nice part about the various movies having different directors and different styles because they also have different tones to them. The Guardians is more meant to have stupid humour (though I love that it gets darker in the third movie) while Captain America’s trilogy has more of a darker and more serious mood to it.
The Issue with the MCU's comedy (in recent history) is that it's just taken to mimicking the comedic styles of Iron Man as well as James Gunn's films. When they saw how popular Tony Stark and Peter Quill were as characters, the MCU basically copied those two personalities onto every single character.
Upon release, that scene got cheers and standing ovations whenever I went. I saw it 5 times in the span of a week (other friends and family wanting to go). The noise at the scene was always so loud that I had to go home and look up what Hulk said when he walked away (Puny god).
To be fair about Loki and being threatening; the MCU in the early days up to phase 2 was often criticized for it's poor villains. Heck I think Samuel Jackson even jokingly stated the MCU has better heroes and DCEU has better villains. Loki was more liked because he was funny and clever, not so much because he was intimidating. It wasn't until Phase 3 that MCU villains began to get better accord to the average viewer.
Look, I know I should be caring about the fact that Welchy is reacting to the Avengers (AKA the coolest movie ever to an 8 year old back in 2012) however I just can’t get over that cool as hell neon umbrella
Re: the Hulk, basically if Bruce turns into Hulk unexpectedly (due to stress or uncontrolled anger) then the Hulk is impossible to control. BUT, if Bruce *chooses* to turn into Hulk in a controlled and conscious way (like in the climax) then Hulk is more reasonable and controllable.
I do like the explanation given in one of the hulk movies even if its not canonical for the MCU in that the hulk is just hyper aware and everything is all pouring in at once so he has little control since he's basically a drunk Bruce and can't process everything that's happening.
To be fair he is meant to be a god of magic not might and he's still canonically in the lift 60 ton range and bulletproof to small arms range. Asguardians are on the average suprrisingly powerful for how much they get slaughtered in these films.
So Hulk is an entirely separate personality from Bruce caused by a lot of childhood trauma and excessive amounts of Gamma radiation who usually only comes out as a defense mechanism when Banner is stressed, hurt, cornered or close to death so no he cannot control what Hulk does when he comes out
Loki isn't what you'd call a great fighter, but he has powerful magic. Also, he's a Jotun (Frost Giant). Similar to Asgardians like Thor, they're really physically strong. A normal, unpowered person fighting Loki without a special suit, looking at Iron Man here, is getting their ass beat. EDIT: Thanos didn't change race, they just made him a lighter purple. In the post credits here, he was basically a plum.
The reason why Loki doesn't feel threatening is because, at the time, Thanos was the one wearing the big boy pants. Loki was the scout. Thanos was the army.

The security guard at 18:22. I find it funny how you remark "and you aren't questioning this?" because that is a famous actor as the security guard who has played many crazy roles. He was put in this movie at this point specifically to be someone who just accepts Banner/Hulk. Originally it was a longer scene.
I'll admit I WAS curious to see how you were going to react to the whole 'Bruce Banner is explicitly suicidal' bit, to the point that in the comics it was a very important deal, but in fairness I see a lot of other reactors skipping it for some reason. Hulk and Bruce are explicitly completely separate personas; at this point Bruce is able to influence the Hulk's behavior if he changes voluntarily, but when he changes as a result of stress, injury or loss of emotional control, Hulk comes out and fights EVERYTHING. On some level Hulk is a threat response taken to the extreme, and the entire world is a panic-inducing, terrifying thing that has to be fought so nothing can hurt him. As noted by other commentors, Bruce has Dissociative Identity Disorder and the Hulk is an alter; in the comics he has a lot more of them. Hulk is SIGNIFICANTLY more intelligent than you might assume, at this point he just kind of hates everyone out of embittered spite. Note also that Bruce and Hulk's behavior honestly isn't that different, both of them antagonize Black Widow (possibly because at this point Bruce might see her as a personification of the military/industrial complex that's been hunting him for the last several years). Bruce does it with mind games and exploiting the fact that he KNOWS she is absolutely terrified of the Hulk because she can do nothing to stop him; if she tries to fight him he will immediately kill her and if she tries to manipulate him, Hulk will KNOW she's manipulating him and insta-kill her on general principle. Fun fact, there IS a character in the MCU noted for killing gods, though it's not Hulk (that said Hulk is fully capable of killing gods). Hulk is more of a World-Breaker. More fun Hulk facts! Bruce was subject to incredibly violent child abuse essentially as soon as he was born; his father took Bruce's intelligence as a sign that his son was a monster and violently abused Bruce and his mother (who tried to protect him), instilling in Bruce a deep-seating belief that the abuse was his fault and that he WAS a monster; this was the genesis of the Hulk, gradually emerging in Bruce's mind to protect him by becoming everything he hated in himself to externalize and point at and say 'that monster isn't ME'. The abuse culminated in the death of Banner's mother, which Bruce has spent his entire life blaming himself for. Years later, shortly before the accident that physically created the Hulk, Bruce had a violent altercation with his father at his mother's grave, ending in Bruce murdering his father by smashing his head into the gravestone. It is deliberately ambigious whether the Hulk is responsible, or if in a fit of rage Banner finally let out all the hate and rage seething for 20+ years but didn't want to acknowledge that hate was a part of him. At his core, young Bruce always felt he should have been big enough and strong enough to save his mother. Now he is. And everything Banner doesn't want to admit about himself is also true in the Hulk, who is the part of himself he wants to pretend is an outside force. The other part of him, the face in the mirror he doesn't want to see. (Anyway the point of all this is that Hulk-centric stuff tends to be kind of... intense.)
So the theory is that thanos was controlling Loki to an extent, which is why in the end Loki’s only reaction to being arrested, so to speak, is “can I have that drink now?”. The hulk beating the crap out of him knocked him out of his mind control, just like the hit to the head knocked Hawkeye out of the mind control.

elchy, there was one more end credit scene for Avengers that you seem to have missed. It's short, quiet, and humorous in a very understated way (especially considering how tired and beat up the team is in it).
The "It's all a joke" thing is a dippy meme going around. The MCU never becomes all a joke. For some reason, the film bros have gone off on the fact that all of the movies from the start have incorporated humor as part of the tone of the series, and some properties lean a little harder into it than others, but yeah. This is what the MCU is like in general, as far as the tone goes.
As someone who watched the Infinity saga for the first time (plus the Spider-Man trilogy) very recently, the claim of MCU having lame humor is a pretty unfair stereotype. Some movies absolutely handle the humor better than others but generally speaking I did not find the humor to be a major issue. A lot of the jokes land. Avengers is a good example. So is Iron Man. GOTG stands out precisely because it leans into the humor in a way no other movie in the MCU before it did. Same with Ragnorok. And yet, people act like that was the norm.
12:03 I feel like it’s important to note in these moments that Steve has only months ago woken up 66-67 years in the future ,found out everyone he knows is dead or not got long left and for him he just saw his best friend he’s known his whole life fall to his ‘death’ because he couldn’t save him so I feel like he can get a pass for being a bit serious 😂 although I do think marvel could have done a better job at showing this instead of Steve just sounding really rude through out the movie but one thing I like is when he gets the wizard of oz reference, I mean he looked like a golden retriever getting a treat 😂
24:20 "And you did nothing about it!? You could have closed the portal hours ago!" No, his mind was being controlled by Loki using the Sceptre until about two seconds ago
A very important fan theory is that in this movie Loki was mind controlled and tortured with the mind stone by Thanos. The reason for that is that in Thor (2011) he tried to kill himself and in this movie he shows up in a bad physical condition wanting to conquer earth and take the Tesseract with an entire army. This theory is supported by the fact that in this movie Loki's eyes are blue while in Thor (2011) they are green. Plus in future movies while still being a trickster and a bit selfish he is never as villainous. He's basically not the villain but a mild inconvenience at worst and very helpful at best
22:55 Hawkeye has a power that he didn't even know he had for most of his life. True Aim. He just thought he was very skilled, but he actually has powers. It gives him perfect accuracy with any projectile.
I randomly feel the need to defend our dearly departed Phil Coulson here. When he says "I watched you when you were sleeping" it doesn't sound creepy and stalkerish (and I think that's the joke) but he means he was monitoring Steve when he was brought out of the ice coma or suspended animation. It was technically part of his job, since we saw SHIELD agents were monitoring him at the end of "Captain America: the First Avenger" and someone had to alert Nick Fury that he was awake. But he probably asked for that assignment because he was such a big Cap stan. ;)
I don't know if you ever would but I highly recommend you watch The Crow. It's dark but very meaningful and it has real life tragedy that happened during filming. It's a cult classic. It's my favorite movie of all time
What makes me mad is the fact that in comics and in avengers assemble Cap and Tony are best friends with strong bonds, and mcu didn’t have enough time to show us this
Don't worry about Phil, just a little time in Tahiti and he'll be right as rain! It's a magical place! :DDD Anyways, I would totally recommend the show Agents of Shield. It takes place immediately after the Avengers and it's definitely the most connected with the MCU films. S1 is more fun and laid back, but s2 and onwards is when it gets some of the best writing in the MCU.
3:49 the relationship between Hawkeye and Black Widow is one of the best in cinema imo. Showing how you can have a deep meaningful friendship that does not need romantic will they/won’t they.
2:28 Prevailing theory is that Hawkeye did not want to kill or wound Fury, so purposely show him in thick armor. Like how Selvig was able to make a back door to stop the portal device while under control.
Personally I like the theory that its basically convincing someone you are their best friend any anything they tell you just makes sense. So if Loki specifcally told Hawkeye to kill Nick he would but in the absence of that instruction its a "My friend say's we need Iridium and to take down the Helicarrier? Makes sense. Oh my other friend and boss is trying to stop me? He doesn't understand he's in the wrong I'll just take him out without killing him, he'll understand later." Essentialy the same approach a rogue Hawkeye would take in dealing with Fury normally.
Everything up until endgame u will definitely love…. People say that after that its not very good but there are still a lot of good movies like all the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, all the guardians of the galaxy movies (especially the one that came out this year - people say its one of the best marvel have ever made) and the doctor strange movies. Even the series like Loki, Wandavision, agents of shield, moon night, hawkeye etc.
this is the movie my bf and i went on our first date to see in theaters... our 11th anniversary is in a few days and we've seen all of them (well, maybe missed a new one or two because he's on night shift now, but we'll get to it lol)
The group didn't have strong feelings for or against each other when they gathered originally, but the Scepter in the room slowly affected their minds, increasing tensions and consequently, turning them against each other until an immediate threat finally put them back to concentration. The death of Coulson (who was quite likable and known to everyone in the Avengers in some way by the time he died) also helped to unite the group against a common enemy. Just to explain since you seemed a bit confused that the group works together well at the Battle of New York.
In the Incredible Hulk Banner says he may not be able to control Hulk but he might be able to aim him. He also is shown at the end meditating and then his eyes turn green and he smiles implying he may have gained some measure of control of the change outside of when he is overwhelmed with pain, stress or anger.
I love all the Marvel Movies! Some more some less, but what's so enjoyable about them is that they are, mostly, light to digest! I actually really enjoyed the last Thor movie a lot. Black Panther - Wakanda Forever was an amazing, yet emotional, movie. I have yet to watch the new Guardians of the Galaxy but I actually really liked the last Ant-Man Movie not gonna lie.
It’s easier to be a Marvel fan when you appreciate a movie for what it is. I’ve become more negative about some of the phase 4 movies just listening to people complaining. But I just try to focus on the positives now and have fun with the movies for what they are. Parts of Thor 4 are enjoyable, and Ant Man: Quantumania and doctor strange 2 have their nice/emotional moments
I completely forgot this movie existed. I watched it way back in the day and somehow my brain filtered it out of existence. I thought Infinity war was the first avengers movie and I have yet to see end game. I'm so behind. Loved this.
7:40 this wasn't bribing to avoid small talk, Nick Fury had bet money that Captain america would be suprised by something he saw and he was suprised by the airship, so the money was from that bet
Coulson means he was watching Steve 'sleep' as in, when Steve was frozen in ice he had to watch over his body, but it's also meant to sound weird because Coulson is nervous around his idol (Captain America)
"Phase two? Forget that, I gave up on phase two" That has got the biggest laugh I've ever given on any watchalong video Especially since the start of phase two is crap, then Winter Soldier happened
It's so interesting for me to see someone get into the golden age of the mcu *after* it went down the drain, as someone who was a huge fan since 2012 who fell out of love with it
12:37 .... Well... I mean. It would be something to imagine. Perhaps we should ask some other Soldier about that, maybe not now its too hot. We'll have to wait till Winter.
7:40 Steve gives Fury money because of the bet they made in the earlier scene (where Steve is working out with the punching bag)... not because he is bribing him to skip small talk?
This entire saga (ending with Endgame, and Far From Home as an epilogue) is really good and 100% worth watching! I supposed with “downhill” you’re talking about some post-Endgame projects that have been ‘not-so-good’. Not all of them though. The third Guardians of The Galaxy movie that just came out for instance, was awesome and one of the best in the MCU imo.

I'm surprised he has no clue concidering winter soldier came out before ant man
As a huge infinity saga person (all movies from start to end game), I can certify it is OKAY to not know what’s going on.

elchy, there was one more end credit scene for Avengers that you seem to have missed.
Where did you get that glowing umbrella? It's beautiful 😭
Some dodgy website tbh 😂😂
@@Welchy Lol, the best stuff usually comes from dodgy websites 🤣
1:14
The gem is inside the cube.
I forgot how good the first Avengers film was because I too felt that it all kinda went downhill somewhere around this point 😅
Great video!
You could have closed the portal hours ago!"
No, his mind was being controlled by Loki using the Sceptre until about two seconds ago
Welchy: it’s the oldest trick in the book
The moment: Loki becoming a hologram
Confirmed Welchy is a hologram
Yes
"How have they downgraded?" As a hardcore marvel fan... I would fucking LOVE to know the answer to that as well.
7:40 No. Earlier in the movie Fury bet Steve $10 he could still be surprised. That was Steve paying up.
You should propably have started with Thor 1, Iron Man 1 or 2, Captain America 1, or Hulk. Those come before the teamup.
ikr right starting with the avengers is confusing to new marvel watchers. (ignore that i think it was the first MCU movie i watched)
@@Roi55 It was the first one I watched too haha
A very important fan theory is that in this movie Loki was mind controlled and tortured with the mind stone by Thanos.
The reason for that is that in Thor (2011) he tried to kill himself and in this movie he shows up in a bad physical condition wanting to conquer earth and take the Tesseract with an entire army.
This theory is supported by the fact that in this movie Loki's eyes are blue while in Thor (2011) they are green.
Plus in future movies while still being a trickster and a bit selfish he is never as villainous. He's basically not the villain but a mild inconvenience at worst and very helpful at best
No longer just a fan theory Marvel confirmed it on their official timeline on their website
@@Phantom_Fireside Really? I thought it hadn't been confirmed because they never acknowledged it in Loki
22:55 Hawkeye has a power that he didn't even know he had for most of his life. True Aim. He just thought he was very skilled, but he actually has powers. It gives him perfect accuracy with any projectile.
The original 6 avengers scene is my favourite and the Loki getting smashed but hulk was pretty funny 🤣
I want everyone to know that Welchy is my Avenger... 😛😛😛😛
Stapppp you
MID 😳
One word: FINALLY :D
I watched this movie twice in cinemas for a reason 😄
Welch's....mate...it's 1am and I was about to sleep
My apologies 🤣
@@Welchy lucky you that I always look forward to your videos....unlucky for my sleep tho😅
But he probably asked for that assignment because he was such a big Cap stan. ;)
“Imagine them working with Hydra this whole time”
I don't know if you ever would but I highly recommend you watch The Crow. It's dark but very meaningful and it has real life tragedy that happened during filming. It's a cult classic. It's my favorite movie of all time
10:07 love how he goes through what everyone went through with Loki when this came out
that umbrella is sickk!! i was just watching the umbrella not the movie😂
😂😂 it’s understandable!
What makes me mad is the fact that in comics and in avengers assemble Cap and Tony are best friends with strong bonds, and mcu didn’t have enough time to show us this
always look forward to your vidios on sunday
Appreciate you🥹
Don't worry about Phil, just a little time in Tahiti and he'll be right as rain! It's a magical place! :DDD
Anyways, I would totally recommend the show Agents of Shield.
7:15 swing and a miss on this scene but I forgive you 😂
Winter soldier is awesome too but even if you don’t see it, this reaction was amazing!
The comedy in this movie was perfect bc they didn’t go over the top with it, felt serious 90 percent of the time
I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE IN A WHILE - THAT NEON UMBRELLA! AND IT BEING FUCKING PURPLE! HELL YEAH!
WOW WHERE U BEEEN HUHHHHH
@@Welchy HONEST TO GOD, I BINGE WATCHED MY FAVOURITE REACTIONS OF YOURS IN THE PAST WEEK TO THE POINT OF FATIGUE 😭
Just to explain since you seemed a bit confused that the group works together well at the Battle of New York.
tbhh i haven't watched any marvel movie in a while so this video is fun to watch. The neon umbrella is amazing and i love it so much
1:35 Yes please! If that's still on the table, that would be incredible!!
In the Incredible Hulk Banner says he may not be able to control Hulk but he might be able to aim him. He also is shown at the end meditating and then his eyes turn green and he smiles implying he may have gained some measure of control of the change outside of when he is overwhelmed with pain, stress or anger.
7:41 earlier in the movie
Steve: I doubt anything can surprise me now.
Fury: bet ya 10 bucks you're wrong.
6:55 it's because he's the god of Mischief, can't really trick a lot of people if you intimidate them first
I love all the Marvel Movies!
Kang was the best part of you ask me.
Thor Ragnarok is amazing and I think Welchy would really enjoy that one. Guardians was super freaking AMAZING!
I cried so many times watched Wakanda forever. It felt like my heart was being ripped out man
Gotg vol3 is must watch, personally love it more then Endgame, it's top 5 mcu for me for sure
I've only been watching you for 2 days and I have binge watched nearly all your videos lol
Have to add, I love your snarky disrespect for the whole franchise. It is so refreshing. You are the Deadpool reactor of the MCU. Good job!
Arguably the best marvel movie, all around perfection
"im team loki" yeaahh thats my man
This is one of my favorite movies! so glad you enjoyed it
If Banner chooses to turn into Hulk he is in control. If he looses control and turns then it's a problem.
Love this, love you welchy ❤
The movie that began it all an was the best Marvel ever made I remember watching it in school in 2012
‘There are always men like you’ gives me chills every time
WTF!!! Did you call Loki Gollum? Dude… he is literally the sexiest man alive
I completely forgot this movie existed. I watched it way back in the day and somehow my brain filtered it out of existence. I thought Infinity war was the first avengers movie and I have yet to see end game. I'm so behind. Loved this.
Wait until you learn about Age of Ultron 👀😂
Ya just imagine if they were working with hydra just imagine
theres no words to explain how much i love you welchy
Aww thank you may!!
@@Welchy omg you know i exist IM SCREAMING RN
I love how much YOU loved the drama.
"You're a laboratory experiment. Everything special about you came out of a bottle"
0:42 Ah, if you didn't notice, we'd have Daisuke Hirakawa as Loki. Such a shame 😆
I swear when marvel had all the best movies the avengers started it all now its not the same 😅
I don't think you realize how long the lord of the rings movies are
"Phase two? Forget that, I gave up on phase two"
That has got the biggest laugh I've ever given on any watchalong video
Especially since the start of phase two is crap, then Winter Soldier happened
"I don't know why I find destruction and death so enjoyable. Am I a psychopath?"
Well if you're one, then I'm a psychopath too *WHEEZING*
"I'm just here for a good time"
Me too :)
2 seconds in the video and you had me crying in laughter X'D What was that intro!!! I didn't expect it X'''D Also amazing umbrella neon heck yeah!!!
27:20 you missed a post credit scene 😂
