Lived in Hornby over 30 years & haven't seen a train go over main south road since probably early 2000s. I think there used to be a cool store down there that the shunters would collect wagons from.
Great to see this video. I last saw a train on there was back in 2015 it's going to be interesting to see what the new section will be used for but will wait and see
Man KiwiRail doesn't even know. I've heard they're trying to get customers along the line, but the new works at the end of the line was a construction obligation from NZTA for severing the line with SH76.

Used to shunt Watties until about the Kaikoura Earthquake, now they truck to the CT site in Middleton
