4M30 - FL66s - 66541, having taken over from 90004 and 90015 at Basford Hall

Since Freightliner Genesee and Wyoming took over the contract with MALCOLM Group, the Class 90s have worked only twice on this service.
Today was the second time, seen earlier by Will Gibson at Carlisle, 4M30, but with Skodas on duty. Thank you, Will, for letting me share this:

Are Class 90s perfect ? 🥰 no, sadly .. but are Class 66s ? no, they break down as well. The first pair to work on WHM were Powerhaul pair 90042 and 90043 a few months ago covering for a failed shed.
It's worth noting that industry player GBRf who are acquiring a number of classes of locomotive have recently chosen to acquire brand new bi-modal diesel electric Class 99 locomotives from Stadler who have built the Class 68, 88 and 93 for Direct Rail Services and ROG respectively. The latter two are both bi-modal.
That said, the Class 90s can still do a job for Freightliner and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, Freightliner will acquire the remaining working state examples from DB Cargo.
