“King Charles Should PERSONALLY Apologise To Nigel Farage” Over Coutts Account Row - Alex Salmond

  • Nigel Farage has praised the Government following reports ministers are considering making new laws to stop banks closing customers’ accounts because they disagree with their political views.
The former UKIP leader said MPs are “beginning to realise that this system is coming for them as well” after his bank accounts were closed by Coutts because his views “did not align with” its values.
TalkTV’s Mike Graham is joined by former Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, who says King Charles “should personally apologise to Nigel Farage”.
“Given that Coutts is the royal bank… I don’t think Nigel would settle for anything less than a full-frontal apology from King Charles.”
In a new statement, a Coutts spokesperson said: "We recognise the substantial interest in this case. We cannot comment on the detail given our customer confidentiality obligations.
"However, it is not Coutts' policy to close customer accounts solely on the basis of legally held political and personal views.
"Decisions to close an account are not taken lightly and involve a number of factors including commercial viability, reputational considerations, and legal and regulatory requirements.
"We recognise the critical importance of access to banking. When it became clear that our client was unable to secure banking facilities elsewhere, and as he has confirmed publicly, he was offered alternative banking facilities with NatWest. That offer stands.
"We understand the public concern that the processes for ending a customer relationship, and how that is communicated, are not sufficiently transparent."

Banks for banking NOT for cancelling you for having personal views thoughts on religion or political views. This needs to be made illegal, if they can do this to Nigel Farage they can do it to anyone.

"OH NOES, THEY'RE TRYING TO FORCE ME OUT THE UK". Farage throwing a toddler fit. Absolute embarrassment. Seriously, can we get a single year where he isn't spreading misinformation, lies, in a scandal or throwing a fit and actually doing his job? When pigs fly maybe.

They obviously did not risk assess the impact of bad press by cancelling Nigel. And there will be others without the platform in a similar situation. I hope they all issue SAR. The paperwork for all the requests will be a mare. People should be sacked (especially those that breached the confidentiality of their customers) and it should be whistleblown across the industry. Crazy that we bail the banks out and they still play god to us.

The amount of people (52%) talking through their backside is creepy. Despite the overwhelming evidence, that Brekshit was the lousiest idea ever, you knuckledragging beings still convince yourself otherwise. So since you didn't want to be part of the EU, the next logical step would be giving Scottland, Wales & Ulster their freedom as well. Reclaiming the "Empire" is the biggest joke. Leaving a peaceful community of trading countries, but wanting to control countries again, who are rejoicing & celebrating their freedom (India especially) from the British whip, is unbelievable. You should be exempt from voting - for obvious reasons.

The EU was bent from the start. There was nothing wrong with the common market, but big government leads to big corruption - as the suitcases full of Qatari cash passing around Brussels last year illustrates. And that's just one little fish that got caught. The vaccine contracts are where the big fish were swimming.

@@Bacon4Rashers 109 countries? Can you name them all for me and cite when they were ejected? I will help you out with one, England - 1290.
Jewish people were a minority in every country they lived in, who were discriminated against by the state by being barred from attending university/ serving in the government/ army (restrictions weren't lifted on them until 1830). As a result they pursued success in the one avenue available to them which was commerce. This was further enabled by the fact that Christians were barred from money lending by the pope (unless granted special permission) which essentially solidified Jews as money lenders in many of the countries that they lived in and made them prey to being scapegoated.
Medieval kings exploited this for their own gain with Edward I seizing their assets to fund his invasion of Scotland (Phillip II of France took it further by seizing the property amd ordering the expulsion of both the jews and knights templar.)

Alex's idea of legal or illegal views is dangerous. Today's legal view may be tomorrow's illegal view and vise versa. How many laws have changed over the years, decades, and centuries because someone challenged the status quo? There should be no such concept as illegal views, only illegal actions or activities. To introduce such a concept is a short hop, skip, and a jump from the thought police - something we've already seen a bit of. Portions of the Hate Crimes Bill is a step in this direction.

  • @BertWald-wp9pz
    @BertWald-wp9pz ปีที่แล้ว

The legal problem is that the U.K. has legislated to allow suspicion to be used in place of evidence and because criminal law has a high bar, controls desired by the state have been sub-contracted into civil law which traditionally was person to person as opposed to state to person as in criminal law. This slight of hand, a typical Blair era move, has actually delivered us into a vigilante mentality. Worse still, the whole thing has become tribal because this is precisely how tribal thinking always operated with group identity being signally by what opinion you express. It tends to privilege appearance - profile promotion. This causes a tendency for institutions to act out what they believe to be the successful ideological stance. It is a mess and the short cut, to control the behaviour of everyone in order to deal with crime that the police have been unable to stop is not working and will continue to manifest unforeseen consequences.
