This is what true pure music n art is ...bts paving way for other talented artists n dancers...but its so useless that ppl prefer to go crazy or hype most recycled and overrated songs like recent of some other group released
A short Explanation: The guy without the shirt is ones self, the rest are his shadows. Controlling him at the beginning, restricting him from doing what he wants and living his life. At the middle he breaks free and confronts them. He enjoys being himself, showing his true self. At the end he fights off the shadows from trapping him again and they begin to imitate him showing the lyrics from interlude shadow “i am you and you are me, you are we and i am we” so at the end he is in control of his actions as we see the pose is the same as the beginning one but this time he is the one moving his “wings” not the shadows and then they even help him to fly representing that once you face your shadows they will still be there but they will help you grow and be better since you acknowledge they exist and are working with them. The shadows are also you., you wold not be you without them.
Thank you for articulating this explanation so succinctly. I was trying to form my own explanation, but I don't need to now. One thing I would add is that, after he escaped the shadows, he tried to fly, but still couldn't. It's only when he accepts and takes control of all parts of himself that he can finally fly.
The guy without a shirt was portraying a “black swan”. He’s trapped without motivation “his wings”-the people in black, are holding him down so he can’t “soar” Sorry if this isn’t correct

It can be interpreted in many ways that's what is amazing about art but key point is the shirtless guy was the black swan that's why his moves are inhumane because he was portraying a swan
Hani pup We have to take into account what the concept is behind the art though, and the concept behind the entire MOTS era is Carl Jung’s journey to Individuation. With that in mind, we can deduce what the artist(s) was attempting to portray.
It is. There are so many people I've seen who hated on it for being "too deep" or thought that they shouldn't bother with things like this that have all the "unnecessary thinking." Honestly, that disgusts me. Partly because I AM an artist, so it's like don't you freaking DARE try to dictate how I communicate MY artistic intent.
@@hafsasaleemi7191 i COMPLETELY felt that! I think Black Swan is a huge highlight of the whole album, ofc there are other songs that i extremely love, but this one just hits *different* The depth of the whole idea and concept is beyond beautiful and ever since then, swans have much deeper meaning to me. I understand not everyone has the same taste and there will be people who will dislike the song a bit, but why hating it? I feel awfuly annoyed by this behaviour
*Unpopular opinion* : the orchestral version of the song actually hits harder for me. It just makes me tear up... Something about how the emotions come through makes me speechless. I hope they perform to it someday.
I love the orchestral version too. I think its 1% better than the original trap version 😆 but I can't find myself listening to the orchestral one on regular days.
True the original version is more of a bop and you feel it in a hype way but the orchestra version makes me so emotional and as a dancer I feel this so hard it really hits you differently
I really wish you would have turned the captions for this, the lyrics of the song fit perfectly with their dance moves, when you said it looked like he was swiming the lyrics were talking about being lost ina dark sea. You really missed the meaning of the video, it's about dealing with your inner demons and embracing them, embracing your shadows, is the whole concept of the album in one video. In the beginning you can see the dancer really fighting the shadows that's why he keeps struggling, he tries to get out, to leave them behind but in the end he learns to control them you can even see at one point he starts dancing and the shadows copy his moves, he starts dancing with them, embracing them. The shots in the beginning and the end are the same the only difference is now the shadows are helping him out so he can fly and become the better version of himself.
Exactly. It’s only when he gives up running from them and chooses to go deeper (literally walking down the escalator) and faces them, that they shift from just trying to keep him safe to instead supporting his desire to fly. Just lovely!
Literally took the words from my mouth...the whole time he kept saying "I wish I knew the meaning..." I was yelling "turn on the captions"!! lol...the entire story that these dancers were able to portray is simply amazing!
@@JL466 Sameee!! It was so frustrating because Sammy is usually good analyzing stuff but I don't know what happenefd with this video I honestly expected like a half an hour video for this, there's so much to talk about here, even the framing of every shot is put there on purpose I really wish he had gone deeper with his interpretation
hmm he did his best focusing on the art expression of the dance itself and did a pretty good job catching up with the meaning on his first watch sometimes i think you guys are just very hard on him
Some parts of the choreography are really tied in with the lyrics, like when you mentioned it looked like the main dancer was suspended in water: it's because the lyrics portray the feeling of numbness and isolation as being on the bottom of the ocean. Then there's more obvious ones like the dancer imitating a bird>the black swan. Really liked your reaction💜
It’s about BTS opening up about their fears of losing their passion. So whilst other artists fear losing fame or money, bts worry about losing their passion. I saw someone explain is really well, idk who made this comment; “The song lends voice to their fears that one-day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the Black Swan within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have”
Sammy: *"it looks like he is in the water"* also Sammy: *"he looks like he is a bird or something"* Me: 👀 Sammy the song's name is literally *Black swan* .. isn't that mean he is a swan?! 👀😶😆😂
Musically speaking, I feel like the original version is very well done at representing the void and sense of static routine that you get when you are not able to enjoy your art anymore, when you're unemployed or lose your passion for life after a traumatic event. The art film version is definitely more dramatic, but it's telling more about the wholeness of your mood when events like the ones listed above occur. The void and apathy is just a part of the mood swings you go through when you're depressed. The orchestral version also displays the feeling of being overwhelmed by a life without passion, the sorrow that brings out the worst part of your soul, secluded in your unconsciousness (in that creepy segment with the strings clashing creating that "distorted" sound), the loss of hope for getting back the control on your life. This is my opinion, everyone else is totally free to differ from my thoughts.

As much as i love the original version, i think that the orchestral version kinda suits the lyrics and the whole vibe of the song better, and it sounds more beautiful to me than the trap version. It's really underrated imo
I’m sorry when I was reading this I was so confused and I was like Day6 and The Rose arent making sense- thought the song titles were words and sentences lmao
This version of black swan when dropped made so many people emotional, I was one of them. The passion and the struggle was felt and its such a masterpiece. BTS links different kinds of art on their work, im so proud of them.
The shirtless guy represents the Black Swan and the other 6 dancers, dressed in black, represent his shadows. In the begining he is fighting with his shadows and he is basically controled by them. He tries to escape from them but he realise that there is no way to do that because the shadows are a part of him. At the end he is the one to control the shadows and use them in his favor.
That they chose to release this art film first makes me appreciate the love they have for all art and artist. 💜 I love their lyrics to “do you thang with me now”, like talking to all of us. Do what we love together, even though what we do may be different, we can still do it all together. Pure love.
I cry every time I hear this version. I love the actual song, but I feel like the orchestral version fits the meaning of the song and gives it so much passion and emotion.
I knew you'd love this version My theory about it is that the main dancer is a white swan trapped around the part of this own black swan. The movie and the lyrics complement the idea of an artist who faces the challenge of perfect themselves while trying to remain their passion. And again, as in the movie Black Swan, this artist doesn't accept this part of himself at the beginning, but when the dancer feels that she/he can't "fly" anymore and accepts it, they become their own perfection, the aimed dark but powerful version of themselves, their black swan. In a nutshell, it's like BTS is saying that they also have and had this feeling before, but they know, accept and love who they are, what makes them perfect and powerful as the black swan and also as a way to show that is part of their personas, shadows and ego as part of their map of the soul. Edit: Hope it helped someway, sorry for any mistake, English is not my first language. This art film and song are really special for me and I felt the need to share with you guys :)
When I saw this video the first time, it knocked the breath out of me. With this MV they tore down another perception of themselves, they broke yet another barrier, yet another stereotype what MV production and Kpop should look and sound like. I also realizes this MV was not for everyone, as it was not easily and comfortably palatable. You can´t see them in it, there is no flashiness to it, no stunning costumes, flawless make ups, gimmicky trickery going on, no fast paced scenes exchanging each other - just honest, pure, super high class art open to interpretation:-) Nobody does it like BTS.
What I get from this video is that at first his shadows were fighting him and pulling him down, but than he overpowered them, either my loving what he does Or by loving his shadows and at the end his shadows are the one helping him reach skys... This is deep becoz bts💜 is all about loving myself, fears, faults, mistakes, everything! That also includes your shadows and this version explains it so well! Also, how one is nothing if they can't do what they love to do, in case of BTS 💜 making music and performing, if they can't do it anymore, I know how sad they would be, like becoz of covid 19, they couldn't and they were and are so sad about it... This is one of the reasons why I purple them so much, becoz everything they do Or say has meaning, deep meaning!💜💜💜
This film is inspired from the famous ballet "Black Swan". Also, Martha Graham whose quote introduced the video was one of the most famous dancers in Ballet. Here, the people in the black represent the person's (Swan's) shadows (the dark part of the mind) and also the wings. At the start the person's shadows are controlling him and inhibiting him (his wings are not in his control rather he is controlled by his wings). Towards the end of the video he finally won the battle with his shadows or took control over his wings thereby controlling their motions instead. And finally using those wings he soared in the sky.
I think this is honestly one of the best things bts have ever released. i know they aren’t actually in the video lmao but the way this video and the orchestral version makes me feel is just... indescribable...
This, the live performance, and the MV combine as a masterclass in what contemporary music is capable of. Sadly other groups appear afraid to push the envelope. Bravo BTS .
BTS is so daring..to release such a video as Pre Release without anything flashy... respect...they let you suck in that music and art and that is beautiful
This dance is actually really deep and has an explanation of its own. It'll take me ages to type everything😂I wish someone would do that tho. This was one of the first steps taken by BTS and BigHit to connect Dance and Art together. Their mission is to connect Music, Art and Dance together and bring people of different interests together. You can see their Connect,BTS videos. They talk with professional artists, photographers, and many more people through online conferencing and share their thoughts with each other. It's so amazing to watch
The day this art film came out it hit me so hard, I was literally crying because of how beautiful yet so painful this was. The dance is absolutely beautiful, the lyrics and the meaning to which I can relate to so much made me emotional. Also this orchestral version of the song is such a masterpiece, I may even love it more than the original. It's so upsetting and unfair how the video didn't get many views and that it got so much negativity and hate. People these days don't appreciate art smh.
This song, if you refer to the song and the quote signifies the inner turmoil of a person who has lost passion for what he/she has loved before. But in the end, they still find themselves in it. To be specific, BTS say that they are afraid that no song can move them anymore or they lose passion in music. That signifies theyre first death. They hope it doesnt come. But in the intent of losing the passion, they reflect back and find music again in themselves. It is a part of them and will never go away. Alas, how much they want to break away from their shadows, the shadows will always be apart of them and be who they are. So after, they learn to love themselves while accepting these shadows as a part of them.
This men represent a black swan who fight with his shadows(hesitation, problems, insecurity...etc, is the case of the bts song is the fear to lost is passion for the music) but then the black swan accept his shadows and he use them to fly....is SO DEEP
I was sobbing when this came out bc of the fact that it was portrait by dancing and I used to dance all my life but I stopped bc of adult life and the first phrase hit me. And also the fact that bts made me want to dance again and this being my first comeback. Idk all of these together made me cry AHAHHA
It's actually a reference to the Swan Lake but more a remix from BTS. In Swan Lake, Odette is a princess who becomes a white swan during the day because of a sorcerer. Her true love is fooled by Odile: the princess exact double (and daughter of the sorcerer). The difference is: Odile is the black swan. When Odette sees her love with Odile, she kills herself in the lake. Well, there it is. In BTS' story (which is perfectly and beautifully portrayed by those dancers), the white swan (the bare-chested dancer) tries to fly away and tries to live his passion entirely but he's finally caught by the black swans making him one of them: dancers who died their first death. BTS' lyrics are literally saying: "the heart no longer races when hearing the music play (...) oh that would be my first death I've been always afraid of." / "no song affects me anymore". They know one day it will be over and they're scared of that: "But what if my moment's right now". And we can even see it in the sentence: "crying out a silent cry" which can mean that they can't even sing or cry anymore almost like if they were dead.
Sammy There is so much depth to this art piece. They are trying to portray not just the black swan idea but also the idea of the album of the shadow and ego. First, the dance. The black dancers represent the shadow pulling down the swan who is trying to take flight. And the orchestral piece is representing that as well with the violin trills representing flight but in the instrumentation there is always one piece that is off tune or tone. Again that shadow piece just working against us. Then as the swan pulls away from the shadow and he is just ecstatic with freedom the music disintegrates into just sound. Then the swan wrestled with the shadow in the dance fight but finally finds a way to use the shadow to support him as he flies which you see as they now follow his movements. The music reflects this as the off tune part is now missing and the sound is all working together. It’s really beautifully done. I like the “shell” of the building. Kinda representing the shell of us and what happens inside our minds. I actually cried the first several times. It’s just beautiful. You can watch BTS react to this video in one of their Bangtan bombs.
The Interlude ARMY podcast did an interview with the main dancer and it’s really great to hear about how the project came to be and his experience with the video.
I'm not the best in explaining but these dancers represents our shadows, the "dark" side of us (traces of our personalities) that were repressed by our persona (our mask that we use to fit in society). You can se the top less guy trying to escape from his shadows (the lighting cage) but it's not like that, you can't escape from your shadows, they are still a part of you, so at the end he learns how to fight against the shadows and how to grow with it (when he's lifted up at the end). Actualy BTS's albums map of the soul persona and 7 (that includes shadow and ego) are based on Carl Jung's philosophy (very very complex, if you want to know more I recommend the DKDK explanation) that give us ways to find our individualism by trying to know ourselves and accepting our "dark" sides
I'm no expert but this is basically how i perceived this whole dance performance: The topless man could be a representation of the boys' passion and love for what they do & the seven dancers in black could be a representation of each of their struggles and shadows that they might fear as those things could ultimately be the reason behind them slowly losing their passion. throughout the whole video it's a struggle between holding onto your passion and trying to run away or fight the shadows. but towards the end we realize the shadows are also a part of what makes us, us. so the man embraces the shadows, and that ends up helping him rise to the top.
Tbh, the first time i heard Black Swan i was kinda apprehensive, like Wow, BTS is experimenting again. But after a few spins it grew on me and now it's one of my top favorites. This MV was filmed at the abandoned Hawthorne mall in LA.
Sammy, I must say I'm so proud of you.. I have been with you from the very first BTS video you reacted to and in front of my eyes I saw a boy, insanely interested in artwork and digital things, going down the rabbit hole of being such a precious Army.. As an Army myself I think you deserve to know that BTS have their own variety shows like "RUN Bts episodes" And "BON VOYAGE seasons' where you would find their hilarious antics and discover their unique personas(like the deaf whisper game and Hobi's amusement park scene) .. Further more you can even directly connect with them via VLIVE App and Weverse... Don't have to react to the episodes, it's for your own entertainment that you deserve to have as a fellow Army.. Thank you and I purple 💜 you Love yourself 😇🙏👼
The darker forces of the self --- holding one back. He tries to fight it and escape them. At the end, you see he is now in control, not fighting it but dancing with and using the forces and those dark forces are no longer the enemy. The self is not fighting the self. Yes, Black Swan song itself is about transformation (if you paid attention to the lyrics and videos).
This Slovak contemporary dance group is absolutely amazing, and I love that BTS offer the opportunity to be known to others artists, thanks t for your reaction to a video of black swan not more know but incredibly precious , and that brings the wonderful contemporary dance closer to the young public 💜
I cry almost every time i listen to black swan cos it reminds me of my own pain. I was, and probably still am, in a depressive episode for years, where i couldn't create art like i used to. I used to feel so alive with painting, dancing, just creating. then I hit this phase in my life where nothing feels good anymore, I don't enjoy doing what I'm doing, and I realize this is my first death. It hurts. I'm still trying to get out of it, some days I feel better, other days I forgot I was even alive and weeks has passed without me knowing. Black Swan is bittersweet for me, it's haunting me in a way that's both reminding me of my death, and at the same time "what if the moment's right now?" I can revive myself right now and come back to life. The pain lies in myself, I have to go through it myself, figure myself out. I love Black Swan so much and I love BTS even more for giving us this music.
This really ties in with Suga's shadow (lyrics) because they talk about being scared of losing your passion /losing yourself. Shadow was released around the time this was released :)
This came out during the BTS Connect projects- where BTS highlighted Art in many cities. It was the MV when the song dropped on Spotify too so people thought this was the only version at the beginning! To me the shirtless dancer portrayed a swan, and the dancers in black our shadows (going back to jung’s map of the soul book of persona shadow and ego) and he tried to fly away at the beginning but was held down by the shadows (doubts or whatever is negative) he tries to fight them off but they are part of him and at the end he uses them and realizes the shadow is part of him and need to work with all of him to try and fly. At the end they are all in sync so the shadows finally light him up and I’m still unclear if the panning up means he was able to fly at the end of its a shot of he’s unable to fly but his shadows still lift him up (instead of beating him down).

Location-wise: yes, it is an abandoned mall. Story-wise: it is always good to turn on the captions and follow them as the dance progresses. The song talks about losing passion for music, not being able to "fly" - thus the shirtless dancer being hold down (literary) troughout the first half of the song. Black-dressed dancers can represent his shadows, fears etc. that are haunting him as he is trying to escape the cage. Also, notice how THEY are the ones who control his movement. The part when the main dancer is being held in the air and looks like he is moving in the water, reflects the lyrics: "Sinking slowly like in a trance, struggle but it's all ocean floor". So he wants to move but feels like he is drowning, not being able to move forward. Then at Hobi's lyrics: "Let my own feet carry me I'll go in myself In the deepest depths I saw myself - the main dancer breaks free from the cage and escapes his shadows, fears. He feels free - look how his movement becomes bigger, his hand flapping like big wings etc. But he is alone. And he literally goes "in the deepest depths" as he walks down the stairs to meet his true fears, but this time he is the one in charge. He is controling the movements of others. This shows how you cannot really escape your deepest fears but once you face them and make them part of yourself, you can gain more control over yourself, your life and your creation. In the end, all 6 "shadows" are helping him to fly up. I like this version of the song a lot as well. Unfortunatelly it is not available netiher on Spotify nor on Soundcloud, or anywhere really. :(
Sam!! Since we’re somewhat back to this recent comeback and after watching the art film for black swan I really think you would love reacting to the “ON: Commentary Film” it was released this recent comeback and its amazing!!
BTS He creates art in every video, his lyrics have deep meanings, and they haven't even been given a performance at the Grammys yet. In the end They lose, while BTS grows day by day 💜
I love this version of black swan so much! 😍 Haha this time my mom also loved it just bc it was more classical lol 😂 but me too tho since like there’s no other big artist that actually makes a classical song like this! It’s just really different which makes it beautiful! And these dancers are amazing!!
bts wanted map of the soul 7 to be a huge modern art project and so that’s the reason why this video and the on kinetic manifesto film exist. they also did this thing called connect bts where several modern artists from all over the world showcased their artwork in bts’ name and lots of armys went and saw the art (bts went and saw some of them as well). there was even a handmade hot air balloon that flied across the world as a part of connect bts
Only through the process of individuation and accepting his Shadow can he truly fly. When the first enter consciousness, they are a source of great consternation. They trap him, beat him down. He must fight to gain control over them so together with them he can fly anew.
Thanks for watching! "'BTS being BTS on talk shows" is up next, tomorrow!

A short Explanation: The guy without the shirt is ones self, the rest are his shadows. Controlling him at the beginning, restricting him from doing what he wants and living his life. At the middle he breaks free and confronts them. He enjoys being himself, showing his true self. Thank you for articulating this explanation so succinctly. I was trying to form my own explanation, but I don't need to now.
One thing I would add is that, after he escaped the shadows, he tried to fly, but still couldn't. It's only when he accepts and takes control of all parts of himself that he can finally fly.

Great explanation you summed up the videos perfectly! I hope Sammy( @MrSammyCam ) sees this!💛
The guy without a shirt was portraying a “black swan”. He’s trapped without motivation “his wings”-the people in black, are holding him down so he can’t “soar”
Sorry if this isn’t correct

It can be interpreted in many ways that's what is amazing about art but key point is the shirtless guy was the black swan that's why his moves are inhumane because he was portraying a swan
Hani pup We have to take into account what the concept is behind the art though, and the concept behind the entire MOTS era is Carl Jung’s journey to Individuation. With that in mind, we can deduce what the artist(s) was attempting to portray.
Unpopular opinion: *black swan and especially the art film is UNDERRATED AF*
Its really underated
It is. There are so many people I've seen who hated on it for being "too deep" or thought that they shouldn't bother with things like this that have all the "unnecessary thinking."
Honestly, that disgusts me. Partly because I AM an artist, so it's like don't you freaking DARE try to dictate how I communicate MY artistic intent.
it's one of the best songs they've ever done. and i'm not saying that lightly because we all know how good all their songs are.
@@hafsasaleemi7191 i COMPLETELY felt that! I think Black Swan is a huge highlight of the whole album, ofc there are other songs that i extremely love, but this one just hits *different*
The depth of the whole idea and concept is beyond beautiful and ever since then, swans have much deeper meaning to me. I understand not everyone has the same taste and there will be people who will dislike the song a bit, but why hating it? I feel awfuly annoyed by this behaviour
the orchestral version of black swan is something else and these dancers are so talented
This is what true art, pure music and bts promoting talented artists and inspiring world
It hits me so hard
@@Diana-fy8uo samee
It's hard reading the lyrics while still having to focus on the video. You can't expect everyone to be able to do both.
hmm he did his best focusing on the art expression of the dance itself and did a pretty good job catching up with the meaning on his first watch sometimes i think you guys are just very hard on him
Some parts of the choreography are really tied in with the lyrics, like when you mentioned it looked like the main dancer was suspended in water: it's because the lyrics portray the feeling of numbness and isolation as being on the bottom of the ocean. Then there's more obvious ones like the dancer imitating a bird>the black swan. Really liked your reaction💜
PETITION FOR THE BOYS TO DO THIS WITH CHIMCHIM DANCING CONTEMPORARY.
THE MEMBEES SINGING/RAPPING WHILE JIMIN IS DANCING-
It’s about BTS opening up about their fears of losing their passion. So whilst other artists fear losing fame or money, bts worry about losing their passion. I saw someone explain is really well, idk who made this comment;
“The song lends voice to their fears that one-day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the Black Swan within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have”
*Sammy* : He is the most flexible person I have ever seen!
*Jimin* : Am I a joke to you?!
He hasn't seen jimin's flexibility yet 😂
But that man is surely flexible maybe flexible than jimin Idk 😅
@@anamikanath8405 yeah maybe... But I'm pretty sure he is not ready to see Jimins flexibility XD
@@chimchimsjam3840 oh no
He definitely is not 😂

THATS EXACTLY what i thought omg🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMFAO IKR
I kept screaming for that 😂
same jajajaa
the orchestral ver of black swan is literally so beautiful omg
This song mostly focuses on instrumental which actually suits this song and their voices makes it 100 times better
2 dancers are from slovenia and as Slovenian Im very proud
Even BTS is amazed by this performance, especially J-hope 😳

I absolutely love this version of Black Swan. So much respect for BTS.

the orchestral version is so freaking underrated istg
As much as i love the original version, i think that the orchestral version kinda suits the lyrics and the whole vibe of the song better, and it sounds more beautiful to me than the trap version. It's really underrated imo
Just imagine bts performing this version at an end year show
Song requests:

I’m sorry when I was reading this I was so confused and I was like Day6 and The Rose arent making sense- thought the song titles were words and sentences lmao
YESS THIS MV ALWAYS MAKES ME CRY
Please react to Tony Montana by Suga and Jimin (there is just a live version of this) 🙏💜
I knew you'd love this version
My theory about it is that the main dancer is a white swan trapped around the part of this own black swan.
You can´t see them in it, there is no flashiness to it, no stunning costumes, flawless make ups, gimmicky trickery going on, no fast paced scenes exchanging each other - just honest, pure, super high class art open to interpretation:-)
Nobody does it like BTS.
Sam React to BTS being supportive and proud hyungs to TXT
'ddaeng' at the 5th muster - youd really like it!
This video still gives me shivers every time i watch it, and the orchestral version of the song is my favorite ❤❤
This video is so emotional I cry every time I watch it, thank you for the reaction Sammy
That first quote is what BTS wants to say about their passion for singing. Now see black swan lyrics and you'll understand everything. ❤️
It's so smooth the way they go up
This dance is actually really deep and has an explanation of its own.
The story behind the dancing is just amazing
turn the captions on!!!! the dance literally follows the lyrics of the song and it’s beautiful
How I nearly blacked out when it was released and heard their voices 😭😭
Most underrated ARTFUL video. Just because it doesn’t have the members in it, doesn’t make it any less masterful. Thank you for watching it 💜
Please react to Otsukare by Suga and Hobi
yessss
This version of Black Swan hits me so much
The Interlude ARMY podcast did an interview with the main dancer and it’s really great to hear about how the project came to be and his experience with the video.
there's actully a meaning/theory about the choreography :) i'm not sure if there's a video about it but i think you can find in on twitter
I love this orchestra version!
I'm no expert but this is basically how i perceived this whole dance performance:
The topless man could be a representation of the boys' passion and love for what they do & the seven dancers in black could be a representation of each of their struggles and shadows that they might fear as those things could ultimately be the reason behind them slowly losing their passion. throughout the whole video it's a struggle between holding onto your passion and trying to run away or fight the shadows. but towards the end we realize the shadows are also a part of what makes us, us. so the man embraces the shadows, and that ends up helping him rise to the top.
Tbh, the first time i heard Black Swan i was kinda apprehensive, like Wow, BTS is experimenting again. But after a few spins it grew on me and now it's one of my top favorites.
This MV was filmed at the abandoned Hawthorne mall in LA.
finally someone pays attention to this masterpiece 🥺🥺 this is my favorite version of black swan, i wish they had included it on the album
Thank you and I purple 💜 you
Love yourself
😇🙏👼
I love your intro I always do it with you 😂
Props to the dancer- they executed it so well🥺
The darker forces of the self --- holding one back. He tries to fight it and escape them. At the end, you see he is now in control, not fighting it but dancing with and using the forces and those dark forces are no longer the enemy. The self is not fighting the self. Yes, Black Swan song itself is about transformation (if you paid attention to the lyrics and videos).
still waiting for bighit to release this version on Spotify, along with ddaeng lmao

I love Black Swan so much and I love BTS even more for giving us this music.
all of the arm movements are inspired by the dances in the ballet "swan lake" where the dancers move their arms in that way to appear more bird-like
This really ties in with Suga's shadow (lyrics) because they talk about being scared of losing your passion /losing yourself. Shadow was released around the time this was released :)

YESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE ITS MY FAVORITE VER OF BLACK SWAN
The people in black also portray his shadows or wings holding him back. I think this connects perfectly with shadow by suga.

Then at Hobi's lyrics:
"Let my own feet carry me
I'll go in myself
In the deepest depths
I saw myself - the main dancer breaks free from the cage and escapes his shadows, fears.

I want to be this guy to dance so gracefully
For someone who is fighting their demons like me, this is a visual representation of what it is like
Only through the process of individuation and accepting his Shadow can he truly fly. When the first enter consciousness, they are a source of great consternation. They trap him, beat him down. He must fight to gain control over them so together with them he can fly anew.
this orchestral version is one of my favorite bts songs of all time, i wish it was on spotify 😭
