So far, honestly they both have been good whips! Now. Our recent video shows that the 5150 whips had a hicupp!
5150 has been such a great company when it comes to support!

HOPING YOUR SEEING THIS.... I'm looking at both the 5150 and grandma whips. Can you tell me how both of these are holding up. I was also curious if grandma whips bluetooth app has the same amount of customization with the colors chasing and stacking modes. Thanks alot for any input. O..... is 1 brighter at night then the other
I second this question!!!!! I am kind of leaning towards grandmas whips because of the tighter wrapping get more lights. The base on the 5150 looks a lot longer where there could be more leds.
So, as for the build quality for the 5150 whips - The build its self is pretty darn durable to trees and such, the design of the coupler is great but we did experience some odd connection issues in the 5150 whips, you can see that in our light parade video. 5150 was great about swapping the whips out and the current set work flawless.
Now for the Grandmas whips, the durability is just as good in trees, excessive whipping and normal riding and we so far have not experienced much issue with build.
The 5150 has a ton of make your own customization with the app along with music flashing via your phones music via Bluetooth. Keep in mind this does NOT work with spotify.
Grandmas whips are fairly similar in terms of color adjustments and customizing, HOWEVER the music dance feature is addressed with a headphone (3.5MM) jack.
This can be good or bad depending on your setup.

I bought my 5150 whips in 2018 and have had warrantied 3x do to them breaking, getting frozen in the base, and leds burned out. The last time they warrantied them they just cut the bottoms and re-glued into the base and they did a very poor job because they are full of moisture and look like trash now.
Thanks for the input interesting to know, I wonder if they have different methods to repairs? We are interested to see how they both hold up!
How did you end up wiring the headlight pods?
Did your 5150 kit come with a rocker switch for the dash?
Sorry for the late comment, no it did not as it is controlled via Bluetooth, I connected it to an existing shotgun plug already installed!
What whips model are those grandmas or grandpas?
They I believe are Grandpas based on the lower decal on the whip
there is a reason why 5150 changed the way they wrap the leds so its not so tight and that they bend and break down the led strip. Also ask grandma where she got (copied) the mount. Also wait a couple months and watch how the grandma mounts rust and screw up your wrap/paint. one more thing let's see who is around years from now for your lifetime warranty. I know if you take and run your sxs into a track 5150 will just ask for your address to send the new ones. but hey do what you think is best for your hard earned money as ive seen her whips as alot of people run them here, I just can't support someone like her and save $75 bucks doing so....
Did you have Grandmas whips and have a problem with them? 10 people down where i live in Pa have them and we smack them off trees all the time and they are are still doing great. Me personally as well as a couple friends had problems with other whips getting condensation inside and it ended up ruining them. I've had my whips for almost a year and ended up ripping one of my wires out of the whip when it got caught on something. I sent her my whip and she fixed it up under warranty and i also had her update to the new controller so i can use the chase lights with them. Mine haven't rusted yet and there is a lot of water/mud down here.
Once I bought a RZR I knew I needed a set of these but there were so many choices out there. After some research and feedback from others, both 5150 and Grandmas Whips came highly recommended and both feature a lifetime warranty, which is something I need since I’m destructive, and have been described by others as a “shit magnet”. It honestly looks like you could easily go either way and be happy with your purchase. I read a lot of comments about Grandmas great customer service so I decided to give them a try. From day one, Grandmas promptly answered any and all questions that I had (I will admit, I just wanted the lights and had NO CLUE about what mounts to get or anything else about installing these). They took the time to look through pics of the riding I do to make recommendations of what would work the best for me. They sent me suggestions of mounts to purchase from other companies that worked well with their product. They have also stayed in constant contact and have done several video chats with me as well. Their customer service has been fantastic and I have no complaints, and I highly doubt a lot of other companies would have put this much effort into keeping in touch once they had the $. There are tons of similar looking products on amazon or eBay as well... but can you just FaceTime those companies or sellers when you have a question or need help? Also, there was a problem with the LEDs on my first set of whips, so they second day aired an UPGRADED set (with the brake light option) to me- this was their idea, not mine. I have been impressed all the way around- they even tossed in some flags too... This new set is even fancier than the ones I originally purchased and can do even more than what I need! The LEDs are very tightly wrapped around and are crazy bright! I’m very happy with them, and believe it or not, Grandmas still checks in to make sure I’m not having any issues. I don’t regret my choice for a second, but I would never knock 5150 since I have never used their whips! Have you actually used Grandmas whips? As far as your rust comment, if you maintain your equipment and take care of things, they last, just like the machines themselves!
Doesn't sound like you're reviewing the product it sounds personal, "someone like that" I don't have any experience with the other guys but I do have experience with Grandma's whips and as far as customer service and product quality all tallied... I give them 5*
Thanks for the feedback! That's more or less a reason why we made this video showing both companies letting the viewer make the decision on what they want to run, and more or less our thoughts. So far both companies have been absolutely wonderful to work with and hope to see Grandmas whips grow and get as big as 5150! (Side note, Upcoming video has some more info on durability)
