Some other songs with insane Akane drum parts are "Warning!", "From now on" and "Black hole". And I've seen MISA play all bass techniques possible, but I'd say she plays 85% with a pick. And she'd NEVER throw a pick away. She has a unique technique of pulling it under her fingers to switch seemelessly between picking, slapping and plugging 💪🏻
Misa is also the master of "The Hidden Pick". When asked how she did that without dropping her pick, she replied: "I don't drop my pick". I love her so much!
@@musikbyjh There is a close up of her switching from pick to slap in the live MV of "Onset". The pick seems to disappear she is so fast. She is using her pick tuck technique - the pick goes between her first and second fingers while she slaps.
Kanami always plays her solo to fit the song. These girls are brilliant. They all play for each other, not showing off, not trying to hog the spotlight. These girls are the best.
Drum away!! Wow!!!!! This was full of good stuff!!! And it moved in my ears, which always makes it like “ear candy”. I can understand why you would get mixed up with other bands. I can’t keep up with who does what. You were all contributing good vibes this morning! Have a great Saturday. Catch you later. 🎶 Cyd
@cynthiamiller483: Hey Cyd, happy Saturday!! Fun fact: this video was supposed to come out NEXT Saturday (scheduling error with all kinds of moving parts, eek!). We have an epic surprise at 12p ET , can’t wait to see what you think!!
This was like a tag team beat down for listeners. Every member demands your attention. No clue what they're saying, but the vocals are awesome that I don't care. Subscribed.
Mike, Band-Maid's drummers name is Akane (Ah-Con-Ne) or A-Chan (Japanese Nickname). She's also known as the gorilla because she's strong as hell, loves bananas, and can eat a hell of a lot food. Jeremy and Julian need to invite you back to react to Band-Maid's "Freedom", the official live video. As a drummer, you will love the hell out of that video.
I believe that over the years of song writing that the band has come to know when an English phrase will suit the song better than the Japanese equivalent.
Misa is famous for her ability to swap finger and pick technic in a song had you don't see her switching. It's very rare to her to loose her pick during the time of the concert. She didn't put her pick in her mouth. It's only her hand ability.
Misa uses fingers as well, but pick and slaps or combination of those most of the time. Usually I don't mind Kanami's solo being short, but I must say I thought she went too unselfish in this song.
Misa handles a pick the same way a card magician handles cards: she makes them appear and disappear as if by magic. You won't even know she's doing it. Ask any Maidiac about it, it's really what sets Misa apart from the typical bass player. (Other than looking great in her ninja assassin maid uniform!) She has learned every bass technique: plectrum, finger, and slap, and practiced until she can seamlessly rotate between them all so quickly that she makes it appear effortless. You'll just see the pick in between her knuckles one moment while slapping and then the pick is between her thumb and finger picking or strumming. You'll be hard pressed to actually SEE it happen - she is FAST. Although her mike stand has a long row of picks on it, she rarely drops a pick and winds up tossing all them to the crowd at show's end.
Yes! Finally someone mentiones Mastodon and Brann Dailor when talking about Band-Maid and Akane. I think both bands have much in common, although they might differ musically: Strong songwriting, very thought through vocal patterns by multiple vocalists, no big egos, but a tight group of friends where everyting they play is serving the song.
Kengan Ashura is an anime that is available on Netflix. This was written by Band Maid and used as the closing theme to the anime from season 2 or 3. As with all and any Band Maid songs they just bring it every time.
Great reaction guys. Shambles is the 2rd season closing song for a Netflix anime series "Kengan Ashura", a brutal fight anime, that started on Sept. 21st. Akane (drummer) visited a bakery before the video shoot and bought all the rolls. When they shot this is was a very cold day in Jan. and everyone was freezing. Thanks for continuing to react to Band-Maid.
MISA does tapping also. There is a live concert fancam video by Vladimir Chupin's TH-cam channel for the song "Clang" where MISA and Kanami had a "tap-off" at the beginning of the song.
Yes, MISA is known as The Barefoot Assassin, except in BAND-MAID itself, where she's know by her band mates as The Asschin because she has a cleft chin.
Yes, Shambles is the Akane show with special guest stars Kanami, MISA, Saiki and Miku. But wait! Was it really the Kanami show, because she wrote the song and played it with such forcefulness and exquisite abandon. Or was it the MISA show because without MISA, the rapturous drive of the song would be a ride on four flat tires. Or was it the Saiki show because she focused the sonic chaos into a song with melodies that could express Miku's lyrics like no other singer could. Without Saiki, Shambles might sound like a familiar instrumental. Or was it the Miku show because, damn, she wrote the lyrics, played the important rhythm parts, and added her unique brand of backup vocals that have become a defining "sixth instrument" of Band-Maid. So exactly whose show was it? It was the Maid's show, as usual! 🤘🎀🤘 Thx, Jere, Jill, & Matt!
Shambles is one of BAND-MAID`s anime songs , this is for anime Kengan Ashura a fight anime , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , 95% of the time MISA plays with a pick , when MISA slaps she tucks the pick in her index finger , MISA`s like a magician with the pick now you see it now you don`t .

Thanks for this comment!! I think we’ve done these songs but will def double check. 🤘🏽
@@musikbyjh You can really see Misa "hide the pick" and then bring it back in their Domination live music video.
They for sure have their own sound at this point. Super talented. Would really like to see them live.
Misa is also the master of "The Hidden Pick". When asked how she did that without dropping her pick, she replied: "I don't drop my pick". I love her so much!
We need to see a slo-mo of this technique. Awesome!! 👏

Band Maid! 🍺🥴

the more you're listening this one the more you like it. AND Misa play with or without pick, she's the fastest to switch between both modes.
Misa uses pick and slaps. She tucks the pick in her fingers when she slaps.
Yeah, that is a magical skill of Misa. The pick is disappeared from her hand.
8:05 - MISA alternates between slap and pick when she performs. Check out Domination (2020 live) if you want to see it up close.
Great song to bring a percussionist on. Good job.

Thank you and WELCOME!!
Yes.
Always love me some Shambles. I think the title refers to what must eventually happen to Akane's drums. 😧
I like that!!! 🤘🏽🔥

Classy touch!!
MISA always plays with a pick, but she has a neat trick of hiding it in the palm of her hand while she's slapping the bass.
Fantastic comment, thank you!! We need to see this up close!!!
@@musikbyjh Try ONSET (live) MISA pick to slap
I’ve seen MISA go from slap to pick to finger in the same solo. There might even be a short clip on their channel that depicts just that.

Bandmaid solo's serve the song and not the musician.
I get that…but that’s also very subjective.

Ahhh, very good to know. Thanks so much!!
MISA picks, fingers, slaps, pops, and occasionally taps. She uses the pick more than not.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hell yeah!!! 🤘🏽
Only 73% of the song are actual drum fills ;) hehe

Hi aunt and uncle
MISA is a pick girl, primarily. If she is not picking she's pluckin' n poppin'.
Yes!! Love those plucks and pops!! 🔥

Huh? It’s amazing you haven’t seen how Misa plays. Especially after watching, “Hate?”. Finger style is not common for her.
We absolutely have seen and are fascinated!!!
Matt Sallee did a great job on this one, but I think Tim just beat him....
