Tonali sitting on the bench the past 2 games is criminal craig.... There's something not right within the club and your seeing the negative effects on the pitch
Totally agree....JL as DM, Tonali AM, Willock, drop Bruno. Drop Isak, start Osula. Bring Bruno and Isak on at HT. Let them realise they have to earn their place.
I know you get criticised Craig but to be fair you are right what you say. Another lack luster performance from the team today. Let's not forget how much these guys are earning on a weekly basis 😮
one of the reasons football is not the same and the biggest drop in the sea of complacency! Most of the players play for themselves not for the club and fans as they should!!! When I started following NUFC in 1991 players were rockets compared to today's deflated balloons, few true exceptions aside! Mentality down the drain in new Gen Z
I'm disappointed in a lot of things. This team is too talented to look like this. Gordon looks like he doesn’t want to be at Newcastle. Very very disappointed.
He has no competition for his place, and I fundamentally disagree with Howe that we don't need a defensive midfielder. This would give us the option of playing Bruno further up.
I feel Gordon dosnt want to be here body language not good some players not performing and feel problems off the pitch are effecting players . Eddie looked Emotional accepted responsibility but players need too . I just feel Eddie need to be hard now because the way Eales ,Mitchell and Brunce looking on no Smiles . I worry for Eddie just hope The job he has done counts .🌑⚽️
Someone needs to sit infront of Schar and Burn and protect them. Burn has been rinsed so many times its making it hard for us to press teams because once we give the ball away and they go on the counter then Burn is in a world of trouble. Id also say if your going ro start Barnes and Gordon then Barnes needs to be on the left. Hes been more of a threat from that side than Gordon has.
If anyone has any doubt that what’s happening off the field affects what’s happening on it - and that people like Craig are right to ask about it and write about it - just look at what happened today. Amanda brought drive and energy to the Club which left with her. She was also instrumental in bringing players to the club with her enthusiasm and vision. All of that has gone. Just look at the body language, the commitment, the enthusiasm of the players and this despite bringing in a performance director. We looked less fit and energetic today than I have ever seen us. Isak and Gordon clearly have eyes elsewhere and who can blame when they hearing all the time that Mitchell wants to sell them. Bruno and Joelinton - well, what can you say. Everyone just seems flat. Eales, as far as we know, seems to be siting back and watching it all happen. That is not a good sign.
@@ggeb1956 If people don’t like the new boss, what normally happens is that the best people leave and those who can’t get another job just have to get on with it !
This result was coming. Performances have been awful. Team selection has been incorrect in EVERY game. Manager is not showing any tactical flexibility. Players not performing. Very concerning
Joelinton not at it, Bruno not at it, Gordon first half looked like he’d spat his dummy out, Dan burn …. Jeez…. Kelly looks bang average, Isak looks as bad as we’ve ever seen him bad toe or not. It’s been coming and we got what we deserved today
Gordon owes us a lot, Rescuing him from his Everton nightmare, Gave him a platform to impress and get into the England team, we've made him a better player and he owes us more than a single good season!
After an unreal season at LW which resulted in a euros call up he’s lost his position in the team. Gordon was one of the only players not injured last season and carried us whilst Barnes was out. Gordon has earnt the LW spot and we should be fitting players around him, not the other way round. I’d be annoyed as well.
Gordon is probably mentally drained, played football at last year under21 tournament played excellent for Newcastle last year on a high for this year euros but Southgate doesn’t play him , no rest for two years and Liverpool interest has effected him , maybe new management team at Newcastle are looking to replace E.H … midfield is to slow , 442 , Barnes , Tonali , Bruno ,Willox or Miggi on right , with Gordon & Isak up front
make no mistake, this result was coming, we were a post width away from going 2-0 down to wolves apart from the 1st 15mins at wolves, we've been shite & the league table lied why have we got 5 / 6 goal keepers? what is that all about? ruddy hell. fulham are bang average, but battered us today something horribly wrong behind the scenes, & it is showing
All we’re doing is paying the price for not bringing anyone in, this also has to have an effect on the players as they’ll see it as lack of ambition, that said they should still put 100% effort in.
great point sold the dream, & we buy a finished keeper from norwich champions league, or champion ship? gordon, bruno, isak are not daft, they stayed, but i bet they wish they didn't
Bang on Craig. Agree with everything you say. I’m a massive Eddie Howe fan, and I’d go as far as saying that - except Guardiola - there isn’t a manager I’d rather have. But there’s something significantly wrong at the moment. To change both fullback during 90mins (again) sums that up. What a waste of an impact sub?! And don’t get me started on his use of Tonali. What’s the answer? Definitely don’t let Howe go. If Gordon isn’t happy, let him go. Drop him and play almiron on the right and Barnes on the left. Have Bruno and Gordon come on from the bench and Tonali start against City. The chances are we’d have struggled anyway so let’s at least try and change something
Complete complacency. How arrogant do we think we are. Expecting to turn them over with minimal attitude and determination. I’ve never seen such a piss poor performance from Gordon and Bruno in a Newcastle shirt. Something is happening behind the scenes and it’s toxic. It stinks of sabotage. It’s clear they want their own manager in. It’s disgusting these men have the power and they have no interest or loyalty to Newcastle fans.
I think Gordon and bruno had bad games but I think effort was still there. Gordon was chasing the ball down. I think everyone has off days but I agree somethings going on but I don’t think they’re trying to get the manger out or anything. Maybe they want a change in How things are done, the 3 in midfield needs changing theres not enough support and there doesn’t seem to be a plan b until we are 1 or 2 nil down.
@@tomruddell-h7tDo you honestly think they(the team) are getting into a huddle and agreeing on tactics to get Eddie out and agreeing on manager x to come in ?.
bruno is class if he had pace he would be at real madrid he hasn't fired this season but form is temporary class is permanent captain? not sure, but he starts for sure
I disagree in regard to dropping Bruno, Craig. If anything, the system is asking Bruno to do too much. I didn’t see Joe Willock helping much in the midfield at all today. And Joelinton was a little bit off it again. That puts way too much pressure on Bruno. If anything, perhaps Eddie should play Sean Longstaff, as the number six with Tonali and Bruno creating in front of him,
I don't believe that Bruno's performances are related to him being captain, surely, he was in decline well before he was given the armband. What worries me is that many of the pre-takeover players that Eddie had massively improved, are now back where they were under the old regime.
@jasonberesford8761 turn out Longstaff didn't lose one game this season, he didn't play at Fulham :) Those players need to feel Ferguson hairdryer treatment
Has the slating Bruno got in the Brazilian press on international duty had an effect on him ? We have a team full of captains, you can see the organisation from the likes of Trips, Burn, is that Bruno’s style, no but can Howe change that ? We have too many players out of form or not at it for some reason, Gordon in my eyes didn’t want to play on the right, Howe noticed this and had his arm round him at half time. Somethings not clicking and hopefully yesterday’s result will result in a reset, we are still in a better place than last season, on to the cup and hopefully back to winning ways.
Totally agree on lack of identity and patterns of play. We only look good when it's backs to the wall and hitting on the break. Not sure if the lack of high press is intentional now or if teams have just evolved to play around it. A lot for Howe to consider with the blend of the team and tactics going forward.
Crag lad, you are one of last honest journalists out there. These fans who are burying their heads in the sand are just scared to confront the obvious problems you are reporting. I've been going to the match since 1975 and have seen what is going on now many times. Gordon Lee was the greatest then he wasn't. Richard Dinnis got us into Europe the we got relegated. Kenny Dalglish, Ruud Gullit, Souness etc etc. I even remember the Gallowgate shouting "Robson out" but nobody likes to talk about that. We need a manager with enough clout to transform this club. Keegan was the only one who came close.
I dont think its a formation issue, its a style of play issue. We used to play such a highline with intensity and win the ball back in dangerous areas and we'd literally dominate teams and make the pitch small. We now sit camped on our own 18 yard box with a chasm between the defence and midfield and the midfield and attackers, we now play the whole length of the pitch, its not sustainable.
I like Eddie but his tactics are the same old every game and other clubs know how they’re going to play. Sandro is one of the only players that never stops running yet he’s benched. Utter joke. Hopefully this is a wake up call because if they won today and played like this next Saturday then city will be up 5+ by half time. Gordons never been the same since the euros.
100% agree Craig something is really not right at the club. The players aren't up for it they aren't battling they aren't working I have no idea what is going on.
Succinct comments as always Craig, now perhaps the naysayers will realise that your words about the rift are definitely affecting EH and the team - very unsettling! Somethings wrong and causing all of this for sure and probably more than just one thing. Gordon looks like he’ll be gone in January along with one or two others by the looks if it. PIF need to sort out the EH/ PM issue which I believe is the catalyst.
We have looked sluggish all season… For me the warning signs have been there since the Southampton game where despite us getting a result, they looked far more threatening than us. Bournemouth, Wolves and Spurs to an extent have swarmed forwards at us with alarming threat. We looked far slow and cumbersome and I’m concerned that Howe won’t evolve given a now embarrassment of riches he has in the squad
Issue we have is Bruno is our only midfielder capable of playing the 6. It’s a huge concern if he gets injured but we didn’t think about a loss of form 🤦♂️. Additionally, not another midfielder is playing well. 4231 is only way we can play, 433 leaves Bruno exposed in a single pivot when we don’t/can’t press. 433 has reached its expiration date now, you can’t play that way with passengers and we have many at present. Upfront Isak is isolated, 4231 would help. Gordon should be dropped, Barnes / Murphy deserve to start and let’s see him earn his place back.
@@SellersTonysI’d disagree with how long you say he’s been off form but I just don’t think we are helping him by leaving him as the lone anchor. Last summer we needed a 6.
objectives are totally different from 3 years ago now though. we can't be delusional and accept results/ performances as if hundreds of millions have not been spent on this team.
We just need to play Hall and Livramento and give them the opportunity to grow into the team. The defence is too slow without them. Lloyd Kelly is a centre-back. I'd potentially put him in over Burn so we can play with a high line, and hopefully, we can get our intensity back as we'll be more compact.
I have no clue where we go from here. I have no idea what I am watching from this team. We have been papering the cracks and we finally ran out of paper.
I can’t describe it but basically every game this season has felt like I’m watching a non-league side play a premier league team in the cup. Not just the poor football but the mentality as well, showing the other team too much respect, not imposing ourselves on the game. We seem to have lost our identity, we’ve gone from having a clear identity of high pressing attacking football to, well I’m not sure what we are now. Tonali has to start going forward.
Like Liam Kennedy just said, Bunce has something to do with the lack of intensity, he’s went into the training to help out and ended up making us horrific. He also said Howe is married to the 4-3-3 and that is SPOT ON!!
I absolutely HATE being negative against the team and individual players but the performances so far this season are hugely concerning. No Energy, No Pressing and No Plan? Why is Tonali continuously being started on the bench? So many key players (Bruno, Joelinton, Gordon) look an absolute shadow of themselves
The two Brazilian's have looked pretty average all season bar Joelintons's opening game, there seems to be a general malaise running through the squad at the moment which seems to have nothing to do with football.
We've been found out Craig OR our luck has finally ran out. Been poor this season man. Could have gone top today too which the national media and PL would have hated. Safe journey home
This was always going to be a massively important season, to demonstrate that we've got the capacity to start living with the top four on a perennial basis. The transfer window was the absolute antithesis of that - a complete shambles. Players start to feel disillusioned that the 'project' that was sold to them may be nothing more than a pipedream. The PIF are no doubt putting more pressure on the Newcastle board, which translates to Eddie. The pressure starts to rachet up everywhere, key personnel leave, new personnel arrive and roles and responsibilities start to blur. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie takes the England job in the next few months, and we see Isak, Gordon and Bruno move on at the end of the season to clubs where there is a genuine chance that they can win things...
@@DanielCordone9that’s complete nonsense. Gordon is not a championship player, look at his numbers last season. Granted he has not been playing to his levels this season but to say he’s a championship player is just daft…
This is long winded but hear me out....... It’s almost like Howe knows his days are numbered and he knows deep down Mitchell and Eales want him out. Yes, Mitchell and Eales will go on TV and say all the right things about Howe, but really they want him out. It’s pretty obvious. They got rid of Amanda and Mehrdad to stop Howe having any support at board level, and I also think Bunce has put a stop to the high press game Eddie likes to play to try and save on injuries. It’s all very well for Bunce to say his job is to make players available for Howe to select, but that’s pointless if Howe can’t play the way he wants to anymore! They know if they sack him now, the fans will kick off. So they either want him to take the England job or have results get so bad people won't kick off as much if he's sacked. People say we need Champions League this season, but I honestly think Eales and Mitchell are willing to sacrifice that to get Eddie out. They will justify that by saying they are looking at the bigger picture. They need bad results to get rid of him but that will obviously effect Europe. It's switched from a power struggle between Eales, Amanda, and Mehrdad to a power struggle between Mitchell and Howe. In Eales and Mitchell's eyes, Howe is the last ''problem'' they need rid of. I like Eddie but PIF aren't going to sack the CEO and Sporting Director so for the sake of the club, it might be best for Eddie to just go.
Ideally Barnes would be an impact sub, but he has to play as we haven't upgraded in the RW position. I'm really not sure what Howe should do now with this group of players if 4-3-3 and a high press is no longer viable? Bruno and whoever plays either side of him seem too easy to play through. I guess every manager needs a tactical refresh every few years to stop other teams working you out. Maybe we need more numbers in midfield and look at possession based football? Pretty much every team copying Pep looks to get in a 3-2-5 in attacking possession regardless of how they line up without the ball. Too often we seem to be caught with 2 at the back and Bruno in no man's land. Maybe a shift to 3-4-3, 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 might help with possession. Having someone partnered alongside Bruno would take the pressure off him. Maybe Joelinton alongside him and Tonali with a freer role or even on the right?Playing wingbacks might solve the positional problems with Hall and Livra. I think Gordon needs to either play on the left or have a free role where he can drift out there. Far too many variables for us armchair managers, and ultimately we have to put trust in Howe to find the right blend. It feels for the first time that he's up under pressure tactically and needs to find a solution.
after the abysmal failure that was the summer transfer window, expectations for this season must be lowered by everyone especially the owners. the club took a massive step backwards. not Howe's fault.
@@Mr.Newcastle You’re right. For clubs like us, unless you invest as much as you can every window you are going to lose out. Eddie made clear what he wanted and he got nothing.
@@DanielCordone9 That’s a complete myth. His transfer record is actually pretty good and, unlike almost every other top club, he has yet to make a serious mistake.
Hi Craig agree with what your saying. If you get the feedback from Brazil a lot of the Brazilian fans don't want him starting for Brazil hence why he was taken off at half time during last international game but this doesn't get reported. He's got a casimero style about him and that is he can't run when he loses possession. Sadly these days you need a bit of pace in the side he looks like he is getting slower every game.
Midfield disaster. Not sure what is going on with Bruno and Joelinton but something is. This was the worst I've seen Bruno perform since he joined the club. Joelinton has got worse with every game. This isn't a case of Eddie Howe just tweaking things, this needs a ruthless overhaul.
Gordons frustrated because after an incredible season at LW and England call up he’s come back and lost his position in the team to get another player in the team. I wouldn’t be happy either.
Sadly it’s been coming……..don’t know where the performances have gone from last 2 seasons with these players. Can’t help think the off field stuff is related. Agree with your review again Craig. As for our best formation? I’ve no idea right now…….
Fulham for example were able to create loads of chances and moved the ball with pace and purpose whereas we are so predictable. It could have been 4 or 5 nil by half time.
Its Paolo Fonseca's time. The man who nearly beat Eddie to the post as NUFC manager in '21. Interviewed no less than three times by Staveley. Currently managing AC Milan. 7th in la Liga with a string of trophies behind him and only 51 years young. Self proclaimed attacking entertaining football is his DNA. Desperate to manage in EPL. Apparently turned down Spurs as he refused to commit to a more defensive style of play. Recently learned to speak English. Just led the Rossineri to win the Milan derby. He said "one day it will happen". Maybe now is the time.
Bruno playing like he's lost, Gordon playing like he doesn't care, Willock not ready to come back, Big Joe back to his old underperforming self, Isak still not at the races, Hall still better than Kelly. Tonali needs to start now, new formation and stop this 4-3-3 every single game, leaving ourselves open in midfield - bleeding goals
@@gazof-the-north1980 very true sir. I think Eddie thinks impact subs are more important than a starting position, which isn't always true. The lads need a solid win after a great performance for the confidence boost.. also I didn't mention Sean 😂
At the moment Pope-Tino - Schar - Kelly - Hall - Sandro -Bruno -Joelinton - Barnes - Isak Gordon the must start all the time and replace one by one according to performance on the day.
yes burn attitude & burning desire to wear the shirt is magnificent the downside is his lack of pace which is frequently exposed in the PL so kelly has to start at CB with schar hall & tino isak makes beautiful runs which are rarely spotted by team mates in time this is why we need tonali in centre midfield to pass it in front of isak who's pace makes him impossible to catch isak is having to retrieve underhit passes which means he has to check back & allows defenders to challenge we got into the champions league with high intensity high pressing football now we don't play this style of football, what next for EH? i think his days are numbered & he will be a safe bet for the england job; speaks well, says the right things, wins nothing - perfect for england
Bruno is a great ..ish midfielder ..a captain he isnt ..and he definitely has ridden on our good nature . But yes ..howe needs to have big balls now and make a few changes
Bruno has had far more good games than bad.. Why not look at the manager? Continually plays 3 rolling number 8's, it doesn't work we're too easy to play against, Lloyd Kelly not a LB, 4 out of 5 of the back 4 are way past 30, totalling 130yrs. We have a decent leftback in Targett, who doesn't get a look in. Why? Tonali is sitting on the bench after 10 months out but has been training with 1st team all the while? Why? Howe did similar things at Bournemouth, and it fizzled out, I hope he's learnt from that experience, but it doesn't look like it at the moment.
Again we saw that on paper it was a strong team but when more than one player is yet again not performing it affects everyone else and it is giving the opposition a free run game in game out and putting needless pressure onto us. With Bruno & Joe I originally put their first few games down to the way that the opposition were being allowed to keep getting away with repeated naughty tackles from behind but when your off your game it makes matters even worse.
eddie choose this team, they cannot pass or hold play, paul mitchel can see through the flaws of this team, arteta followed pep , and bought players that can pass, this is key we lack, eddie bought alot of players who cant pass, passers are quick thinkers , sandro has this skill and em
Couldn’t agree more. That midfield has been long existent. Even when we beat Villa on the first game of the season they were picking holes in our midfield for fun. Without press and energy we’re pretty lost. Clearly. And players won’t press and sacrifice their limbs for a manager/SD they don’t have faith in. Love Howe, but our one dimension doesn’t work without belief in the higher ups. Part of the problem is not buying new players too. Players rest on the laurels. Seen it with Pardew and Sir Bobby. Playing well for 5 min isn’t the hope we asked for.
Every game this season could have ended like this had it not been for pure luck. I've never rated Bruno and here again I see why. He was atrociously casual the whole game and why he is captain baffles me. Big Joe again a liability. Howe dithered making decisions too late which again shows his inexperience. Isak and Gordon were 'marked out' so useless so why keep them on?
Tonali should start. joelinton holding central midfielder. Bruno strip of captaincy Tripps back as captain.gordon not firing Lfc is in his head and Barnes plays same role.
Joelinton can’t be a holding midfielder, he gets caught on ball to often for a start, can’t tackle he bounced of Troura today and ended up on the ground.
I have been saying this since the 2nd game. Bruno should not be captain. Its detracting from his ability to Concentrate on his own game. If the idea of making him captain was to ensure his loyalty then that was the wrong move.
100% agree on the midfield make up, it should have been addressed with the signing of midfielder anchor .. Bruno just has to play in a freer role and Tonali just has to start .. we just don’t have the player to knit them together . 4-2-3-1 is the way forward.. but we don’t have the players to do it .
Totally disagree with handing the captaincy to Bruno. He may or may not be the most influential player in the team, but I don't agree with 'saddling' these players with the responsibility of being the captain. The stars of the team need to express themselves without having to bother with any distractions, and this is what has changed Bruno. Of course now that he has been made captain, what damage would it cause to remove it from him? It is one of Eddie Howes' bad moves that are starting to open the cracks in the Newcastle set up.
Tbh I don't think Bruno and Tonali can coexist. Tonali makes Bruno feel threatened as the "main man". I suspect Eddie Howe knows this and that's why he doesn't start Tonali.
Two weeks in a row our midfield has been overrun by average opposition. Gordon looked disinterested and if he wants to leave then let’s get the £100m from his Scouse pals, his performance was shameful. Team looks like it needs an upgrade but current core has not changed really for 18 months. Performances are important.
Graig ..the players are not playing for Edd is howe ..simple,s do they know something we don't ....he will be the next England manager ?? ..that breeds uncertainty ???...did anyone seriously believe we would beat Fulham ??? with the transfer window been a shambles we have stood still ...and other teams have got better !! I as Newcastle fan have been deluded because I thought we would finish 3rd this season ..there is absolutely no chance of that happening unless players like Gordon ,brono joelington improve dramatically can we beat Wimbledon to keep our season alive ?? let's hope so ...because man city at home looks like a away banker ...thinking positive Harvey Barnes is playing + scoring well and we only need 30 more points for safety !!!
Hang on, Eddie keeps Bruno in to get him match fit, yet keeps Tonali on the bench because he’s not match fit? Eh? The players look disinterested, Eddie seems clueless about his starting line up or how to motivate them. Something is not right at the club and it needs sorting fast. Eddie is not blameless in what is going on either - stop power playing in press conferences and get on sorting the team out…
We should have bought Mamardashvili and Silva CB. We look out of ideas, slow and seem to be passing back to the keeper an awful lot. If we play like that against City it will be a cricket score. Howe could call them over a bit more during the games breaks in play to tell them he isn’t happy, we seem to waste so much time before we correct issues.
You talk about removing Guimares from the firing line but what about Pope. Yes he can make good saves but on so many occasions when it is simpler to catch the ball, he palms it away.He cannot kick a ball properly and therefore cannot distribute. He brings no confidence to the defence. Sorry but it’s high time Martin Dubravka was back in the team. It was a total shambles yesterday. Howe and Tindall seem unable to change tactics during a half. It seems it has to be at half time. Howe blames the team for being reactive but that is exactly what he appears to be. You can see a problem but he does nothing until disaster strikes. It’s a very poor show all round !!
I'm sick of pope parrying shots than can be caught...hes bringing mistakes on himself...who's ever told him to do that needs sacking..ffs hold the ball
Spot on as always bonny lad, will slightly disagree with you on Howe. I don’t think he’s the best thing we’ve got right now. Under this ownership structure I can’t see him working. That’s not an Eddie Howe problem, that’s a Saudi problem
Wonder what Graeme Jones input is these days? and I feel they should give the captaincy back to Trippier or at least somebody in defence because that's where we need organising. then hopefully Bruno can just concentrate on his own game
I believe it’s more than fair to suggest that off field matters have impacted heavily. I was never one to believe that could happen to professional football players but my eyes tell me a story to suggest I was naive. So what can it be? If EH is under severe pressure from above surely the players would adopt a siege mentality, back the manager with performances. This is not happening so it has to be something else. I think personal ego’s are involved but I don’t know how and to what extent. Eales is a problem, he doesn’t come across as sincere and it feels like he is feathering his own nest at the cost of others. Again happy to be wrong, I’m simply talking out loud trying to figure it out. Challenging times ahead and only our football club eat itself after doing so much right over these past few years
Apart from the alleged disattachment with the hierarchy.... trippers wife has left him, shes moved to Cheshire now, Gordon... whether he's unhappy about the Euros, liverpool move or playing right wing, this level of professionalism is unacceptable. Big teams are watching this. Isak again in a team that can't find him. The lack of creativity in this team is shocking. Finally Bruno, playing soo poor for country and now bringing that to club level is affecting him. We have too many players with emotional baggage in this team right now, and it's showing
What it is Craig is this, thats the first time I've seen an Eddie team lose because the opposition had more heart than us. And thats what it boiled down to today.
Howes team selections are poor. Bruno being played in wrong position. Barnes is better than Gordon. Burn is dodgy. Tinos being dropped why ? Hall replaced? Tactics are bewildering. Isak gets less service than a budget air ticket. Top? Those players looked botton 3.
Something is fundamentally wrong within the Team, No Europe this season but no intensity, no fluidity, no shape, no legs. That first half against Fulham was unacceptable from the Team and Coaching Staff to where we are in relation to ‘The Project’ of being Number One! 💪⚫️⚪️
Bruno being the captain has weighed heavy on him, he isnt that marauding midfield player since he became captain, missing the high press on the right wth Trippir and Miggy missing
Just like any other team, what matters is seeing the players try.Overall, practically all of Newcastle's players didn't. This is really bad news, and I'm half-expecting them to plummet.
According to Craig Eddie is an elite manager which other elite manager sticks 4 3 3 a formation that does no longer work time for a change Thomas Tychels Black and White army or Diego Simoene;s
Tonali, a world class Rolls Royce of a Player, left on the bench, shocking. Eddie is a top manager..the best..but his one fault is loyalty to players who have worked hard for him in the past..Longstaff as one example.. Eddie is Showing loyalty that is detrimental to the team. I can understand Eddie doing it as its hard to tell anybody they are on the bench. Eddie Won't admit it to himself before the Fulham game but perhaps he will now and going forward will play his best team.
anthony gordon is a class act but he was put in a bad situation by nufc transfer policy which mitchell quite rightly calls out should he have done it in public, no, but he is right the fallout is that gordon is having to play with bang average turn outs like longstaff, burn, kelly, & it shows it's a real shame because he is a top top player the tonali 74minute substitution is a disgrace however apparently he is good enough to start for the national team, but not newcastle - give me a break tonali HAS to start because he is class & of course EH picks the wrong team because we have to make all the changes at ht & later on burn trippier joelinton starting over tino hall & tonali? absolute jokes. as far as i am concerned trippier can do one he has a wife & kids at home but that's not good enough for him not my captain send him to turkey or greece or wherever
A lot to unpack in that game but how poor the two CBs were today needed a mention. Had one striker to deal with between them! How poor AG was also needed more focus, he is not happy at all. Bigger picture is that this team is failing in areas of the game they shouldnt be and that boils down to the management. I love EH but take emotion and previous achievements away when looking at this season so far and its been extremely poor. We've got points from moments of magic/class as we have top top players. From an outsider looking in it feels like there is something bigger going on, whether thats players not wanting to be at the club, a manager with an eye on the national job or the club hierarchy waiting on an opportunity to sack the manager. It could be all the above and it wouldnt surpise me if that were the case.
Came for the analysis stayed for the street fighter reference 🤣👏 Although a mortal Kombat "Finish him" would also have worked. Terrible performance , even Stevie wonder can see we need a 6 but not Eddie? Formation change a must too.
Formation and drive is lost . Howe has to be asked whats he doing with the team ? Last season excuses was all the injury's, there is no real reason this season.
A lot of questions for Eddy Howe to answer to. Why go so many windows without a recognised striker being brought in to replace Wilson ............... Are the big names pissed off that we have not strengthend and thinking whats the point ........ is Schar's nose out of joint because we were looking to replace him in the summer, sure that's why he got himself sent off in the first game .................. Has he got a problem with Tonali. Has his tactics been well and truely found out.
What I think a lot of people don't realise is that Howe started managing a professional first team the same year as Guardiola. Yet he still gets referenced as a young manager with potential to learn a lot and get a lot better. Sixteen years is way longer than most managers manage. Think we have to realise that Howe isn't going to change his approach, what you get you get. This isn't a criticism or say he should get sacked but it is just how it is.
Hopefully from Bruno, J7, Tonali, Miley, Longstaff & Willock we can craft a Midfield strong enough and tactically astute to dominate and run games.💪⚫️⚪️

I think Gordon and bruno had bad games but I think effort was still there. Gordon was chasing the ball down. I think everyone has off days but I agree somethings going on but I don’t think they’re trying to get the manger out or anything.

Cringe. Read his articles, he sings a different tune there when its behind a paywall.
Utter joke. Upfront Isak is isolated, 4231 would help. Gordon should be dropped, Barnes / Murphy deserve to start and let’s see him earn his place back.

I think Bruno’s had quite a few bad games for us. Technically very good but lacks speed and strength
Like Liam Kennedy just said, Bunce has something to do with the lack of intensity, he’s went into the training to help out and ended up making us horrific. He also said Howe is married to the 4-3-3 and that is SPOT ON!!

A lot of fair concerns there. Howe’s future is not as certain as it was a year ago, for sure. Club suddenly seems unstable.

He's got a casimero style about him and that is he can't run when he loses possession.

We have a decent leftback in Targett, who doesn't get a look in. Why? Tonali is sitting on the bench after 10 months out but has been training with 1st team all the while? Why? Some fair points. The rolling No8s in particular, it’s just not working.

Got to give it to Bruno he’s loves the club and is trying his best to put off any interest by another club 😂
Great to hear a well founded and straightforward commentary. JoeMcIntyre
Thank you Joe!
Our luck ran out today ,worrying times
Would could get relegated this season. Teams like Forest, Brighton, Ipswich and Fulham are better than us. Leicester have a better squad of players
Not to mention joelinton is out of position and never will be a consistent central midfielder
Looks exactly what he is “ a failed striker playing in midfield “
Tbh I don't think Bruno and Tonali can coexist. Tonali makes Bruno feel threatened as the "main man". I suspect Eddie Howe knows this and that's why he doesn't start Tonali.
Two weeks in a row our midfield has been overrun by average opposition. Gordon looked disinterested and if he wants to leave then let’s get the £100m from his Scouse pals, his performance was shameful. Team looks like it needs an upgrade but current core has not changed really for 18 months. Performances are important.
Almiron is miles better

Eddie is not blameless in what is going on either - stop power playing in press conferences and get on sorting the team out…
I don't think Bruno was given captain to get extra 10% effort, he was given to try to keep him at the club.
Pope makes good saves but his distribution causes up so many issues
That £100m release clause for Bruno is looking pretty decent right now in hindsight.
hence why no team wanted to touch him at that price
Spot on as always bonny lad, will slightly disagree with you on Howe. I don’t think he’s the best thing we’ve got right now. Under this ownership structure I can’t see him working. That’s not an Eddie Howe problem, that’s a Saudi problem
Great summary Craig. We need to start Tonali
Thanks Neil.
Wonder what Graeme Jones input is these days? and I feel they should give the captaincy back to Trippier or at least somebody in defence because that's where we need organising. then hopefully Bruno can just concentrate on his own game
Don,t be stupid ,bruno is playing too deep and this is down to howe.he is clueless.
Anyone else notice Pope doesn't dive to his left very well? Almost hesitates and holds his arms funny.
as always a well balanced assessment and spot on. Do the problems start with the boardroom politics
They aren’t helpful.
Eddie Won't admit it to himself before the Fulham game but perhaps he will now and going forward will play his best team.
anthony gordon is a class act but he was put in a bad situation by nufc transfer policy which mitchell quite rightly calls out
should he have done it in public, no, but he is right
the fallout is that gordon is having to play with bang average turn outs like longstaff, burn, kelly, & it shows
it's a real shame because he is a top top player
the tonali 74minute substitution is a disgrace however
apparently he is good enough to start for the national team, but not newcastle - give me a break
tonali HAS to start because he is class
& of course EH picks the wrong team because we have to make all the changes at ht & later on
burn trippier joelinton starting over tino hall & tonali?
absolute jokes.
as far as i am concerned trippier can do one he has a wife & kids at home but that's not good enough for him
not my captain send him to turkey or greece or wherever
Tripps problem is he doesnt have a wife and kids at home
exactly
& who's fault is that? running around town like at 17 year old who's never seen a pair of tits
he can do one
It’s been coming!!!
Tonali isn't British
Agree, really need a no.6 in this team
Play tonali in front of the back 4 !!!
@@DavidSelwyin-z3k Howe loves 4-3-3 too much
If only we had a top class midfielder who could come in to change it.
We have but always left on bench
