Welcome to the third episode of Ancient Palestine. Israel will once again begin its bumpy road to freedom, and more than one war will affect this region again.
This time, the Persians will become the first saviors of Israel, because the episode begins with the conquest of Babylon by Cyrus the Great. It is the end of the 6th century BC. In this fragment, I will touch upon the figure of the Persian King himself and explain the basis of his true motivation, which turned out to be so beneficial in the context of the further history of Israel in Palestine. Since the beginning of the existence of the Hebrew Tribes, religion has played a great role in them, and this time it will be no different. I will briefly present Biblical characters, such as Nahiah and Ezra, who were initially able to re-cement the community of the Nation of Israel. During that period of time we will also witness the birth of the office of High Priest and the priests subordinate to him.
However, war and wars will begin to approach Palestine once again. This time, however, it will happen thanks to Alexander of Macedon, later referred to as the Great. He will introduce the culture of Hellas to Palestine, which will soon contribute to internal divisions among Israelis. However, Palestine itself will become an arena of fights and struggles between Alexander's heirs - the Diadochi.
Ultimately, the film will tell the story of the fall of the Hellenistic culture in these lands and, finally, the successful uprising of the Israelites, which will bring them state independence again at the end of the Ancient period.
