I cannot overstate how much I treasure this video. The execution of it, the story telling, the absolute DREAM bikes ... and the British flavor to it all. I had seen this video years back and it came back to mind as I ran into a friend who also has a burning flame for Brit bikes and especially Cafe style bikes and I started searching for this video for DAYS !! Yes, like a fiend and could not find it ... as if I had only imagined it. Then I just got this inspiration ... like an epiphany ... to search just "brit bikes' .. and bingo, up it came to my delight. I want a bike like this and I am even contemplating moving from my life-long home in Miami Beach to go back to my heritage there in England from whence my parents came when I was born over here.

Lovely bikes, awesome looks and sound. Bet these 3 brothers can't stop grinning from ear to ear when taking them on a spin. Congratulations.
That was awesome guys! I grew up in Northern Ireland and owned at one time or another, Triumph 500 & 350 speed twins, BSA 250 & Bantam, Norton 750 Commando, Royal Enfield 500 Bullet, and started off with a Norman Nippy. I just love those old bikes and the unique,"note" they had!
Come on man, let us look at the bikes!!

Bought a 1968 BSA off the show room floor. Just loved the red & chrome... still do. Should have kept it.
A mate has a beautiful red and chrome 1968 Royal Star 500.
It reminds me of a toffee apple.
the moment those three bikes kick over at about the 5 minute mark stirred something lying dormant in my trousers! What a sound!

My congratulations on an outstanding job, I enjoyed your presentation. I had several British bikes -a Matchless 500 single cylinder, a BSA 500 cafe racer and, best of all, my beloved Triumph Tiger 100, 500 cc 1956, straight out of the Meriden Works. That was the year I got it, brand new while I was working with Royal Dutch-Shell in the Venezuelan oil fields. I covered half the country on my time off and I reluctantly had to put in the hands of a co-worker, an English engineer, to ensure a long life for the Triumph when I came to the US. The most agile, responsive motorcycle I ever had the pleasure of riding. The Triumph guys at Hinkley are producing now the wrong kind of bike, except for the Bonneville and the Thruxton --which have excessive weight: A 371 lbs 500 cc Triumph reborn would kick the pants off the Japanese 300 cc bikes like the single Honda and the twin Kawasaki Ninja, almost as heavy as the Triumph, but they are selling well. Hinkley boys, listen up! Methinks you are ignoring the realities of the US market!

Had a 1951 350cc BSA inherited from my Grandfather, and later bought a Norton Dominator 500cc. Loved both bikes. This video brought back wonderful memories of the late 70s for me!
Back in the 1950's, as a young teenager, I used to cross-country run, winning some too! But, oh dear! My finely tuned spindles, my legs, were no match for kick-starting bikes. My knee joints not up to the job. By the time the Japanese came along with electronic ignition, I had already moved on to the more sedate four-wheeled transportation - and never considered going back to two. What a complete wasted life. My family, loath to travel with me, say I take corners on two wheels and accelerate like a rocket sled - all that wasted effort when I could have truly been doing it on two! Ah, well, too old to relive a dream. Still! I can enjoy these videos and create the dream in my mind too!
That's the trouble with it all, only one "ticket" per customer.
At age 64 I returned to riding after 40 years off a bike. Royal Enfield 500 Classic. Best thing I have done for myself.
just how old are you? Are you still fit enough? I had a rest from bikes for 50 plus years.. Recently bought a Honda 400. and i`m 75 this year...... Go for it...

I remember as a teenager in Montreal seeing a first look of a Norton Camando ... yellow such a beautiful machine and triumph was another incredible bike

Wonderful an absolute delight, grew up with these bikes such a shame the industry didn't encourage those skills and transform the industry sa la ve. I live in Aus but grew up in the UK loved the story, the thinking, the thought process and the outcome sensational. You should be justifiably proud.

1967 BSA A65 Lightning Rocket. Been riding her since 1969. In the shed right now for the last two years. Guess I better get out there and finish her up, huh? Beautiful bikes. Where can I see more of them and have a longer look?
I followed the link from Classic Bike mag, the article about the bikes was very interesting, especially the amount of work that went into the BSA with the off-set crank. It's a shame they had to get one made in Canada, you would think the expertise was there in Britain, how times change.
I love the look of a standard, proper-looking bike with a heap of go-fast and handling mods, a sleeper you could say.
It would be great if the guys for their next project made a Vincent similar to the one that the Horner bros made here in Australia, the Irving Vincent, now that would be something !

My old BSA was so hard to start and keep running. But it was still cool. These three are glorious.
Great, but I would love ot have seen more than 5 seconds worth of the bikes - more camera tie spent on the dog and the old woman than the subject of the video.
In sure the bikes are great, but the film director thought he was shooting an advert! If you're proud if your work, show it. Allow the viewer to do what any one of you or us would do if we saw the bikes in real life: we would take a long gander wouldn't we? See how that works?

Agree. Fantastic projects but can we get a better look at the bikes. A frame from scratch is a task in itself. Engine and tranny? Rebuilt or made from scratch?

Cool bikes. Couldn't really get a good long look at them though. There was such a build up then we never got any solid shots of the bikes (At the end there were a couple shots of the bikes, but they were quick and didn't give us a good sense of them. Hopefully there's photos of these bikes somewhere on the internet.

Great to see the BSA Mk ll Spitfire (although apparently named as a Lightning) considered a true classic, truly BSA's highest power to weight performance bike, I bought one within a couple of days of them arriving in Australia & as they say, 'the rest is history', it is recorded on Wikipedia with Sydney's new Amaroo Park road racing circuit opening in February 1967. These days if I had my choice of any bike, it would always remain the Mk ll Spitfire!
So hipster it hurts....I came to see bikes. I don't care about their dog, their clock, their coffee cups,etc....bikes,people. Bikes!

Mine was a '69 Bonneville with flatter lifters and offset rocker buttons,holes drilled in /under the oil ring and a few minor alterations by Big D Cycle (Jack Wilson).The results were that NO other bike on the street was faster,including Suzuki's 500 two stroker,other Tridents(except for another Jack Wilson Trident custom and then I could keep up with him within a link)The only solid defeat was a '55 Chevy that I think just cleared air at launch with his "skinnys" He told me at the next red light"I've never had anyone stay so close to me" He won by only one car link in a little over an eighth mile.I still grumble when I reflect on selling it.Clearly I'm a dumbass.
I'm 64 now.Don't ride anymore unfortunately.But the TRIUMPH TRIDENT always stood out from the crowd.Had workmates who rode suzuki two strokes,and bonnevilles,must admit those bonnevilles sounded awsome.But the TRIDENT Definately stood out,aggressive and sleek at the same time.

I ride a 2020 Royal Enfield Interceptor and one of the things a lot of us in the Facebook groups miss is a kickstarter.
There is something satisfying about kicking a bike into life (when it fires up) even if you also have an electric start too.

Great video. Very enjoyable. I like what they're doing. I ride a Triumph 900cc Triple, which I like better than a Bonneville.
I would like to see them put one of the new Triumph Bonneville engines ( w/a kickstarter added ) into a classically styled rigid or plunger style frame & a girder or castle style fork . Nothing chopper style, just trying to retain the wonderfull classic style these gentlemen are keeping with so the handleing doesnt decrease . Don't get me wrong, I love seeing classic brit bikes that have become choppers, but recreating the classic look & giving the bike modern handleing is more appealing in my opinion. These gentlemen have done an excellent job with the bikes they produced, I wish them many, many years of continued success
The handling of the stock original BSA/Triumph is still very good even by modern standards.
farric1 Agreed,English bikes handle very nicely. When I was young my parents friends who rode Triumphs always said that the Japanese bikes would always go faster in a straightaway but as soon as the road got twisty they'd fall behind ( back in the 70's ).Unfortunately in the US not many people were into chopping their Japanese made bikes , though their was & still is some dedicated customizers who Love their in line 4's enough to chop them

Kick starting has become a lost art. My 73 Commando Roadster was simultaneously the best and worst bike I have ever owned. It was stunningly beautiful and a pure joy to ride but also required constant maintainance. As much as I loved it the constant fettling took its toll and I traded it for a Japanese machine that I didn't need to tune every week.
What mods were done to the engines? I guess for the A65 a little more than the 'SRM cure' was needed :)
To all you English lads with vintage twins, please come along this route to Aberystwyth just so I can hear that glorious sound!

I road everything back in the sixies,and owned most of them,BUT,my favorite one was the ARIEL SQUARE FOUR.now it had power,it handled like a dream,and was a blast to drive,the only thing I hated was we couldn't keep head gaskets in it...........
Makes me miss my Triumphs and the one BSA. I don't miss the constant maintenance and repairs. Zener diodes OMG.

I once bought a 12 year old Triumph T100.That was in 1982. The poor thing was in an unbelievable state. It leaked from every joint and the cylinders had been bored to+3 oversize already. I couldn't tell the actual mileage because the the speedo and revounter didn't work.Basically the quality was terrible both in materials and engineering.I know that when compared to a BMW of the time, and I also owned a 1970 ex police R600 that didn't leak a drop, they were affordable. But they were too unreliable. The 1972 Trident I owned later was even more of a nightmare until I fitted a Norman Hyde 1000cc kit and used metal gaskets on the rockerboxes.Still there was a lot of spannering going on just to keep it going. I don't miss old British bikes a bit.They may be pretty but that's just about it.

I think that I'm a smart guy, able to rebuild an A65 or restore a Commando, but I bow down to the wizardry on display here. It's obvious that you guys worked together in the best possible way to produce some of the most desirable bikes I've ever seen. Kudos fellas.

That's the idea! Keep the engine and frame and pitch the rest. Use modern forks and brakes. I'd love to find some way to install a front disc brake on my '67 BSA Thunderbolt. It has a Ceriani front end and I don't want to lose that, although I might have to get that disc set-up. I don't mind the drum rear, but that single leading shoe drum up front should have been pitched a long time ago.
