Lovely sentiment!✨️🫖📚🐈⬛@@marthasandoval6760
Me too Jess I live in Illinios so you know what I live in . I get chilled to the bone in this cold damp weather.Happy New And I hope you had a great Christmas
I watched you guys build your house, and i fell in love with your house, your land, your wisdom, and your relationship. In a world where the divorce rate is over 50%, you two inspire me. You are literally, building a home and a life together. Thanks for sharing.
I'm with you, Jess. I had to work in the cold for a very long time. Now I'm retired. I don't go outside until the temperature is 50 or above. Or step out to check on the wife's Sulcata turtles. Making sure their heaters are working.
This is a fascinating and unique channel. I’ve fallen in love with those long stretches of scrubby desert and those beautiful ever-changing mountains in the far distance. Thank you Jim and Jess for taking me along on your wondrous journey.
Thank you very much!
When I was a vegan / vegetarian I was depressed and couldn't stand the cold. As a Carnivore, no problem! 😊👍
I'm a warm weather person, too. Jesse, I completely understand. Everything is looking great.
🌈 Yay, I’m so happy to see all that collected water... with a garden it always seems like you can’t store enough! 🤣 🌱🌱🌿
Great job on the berms! So happy to hear there was no destruction.
Way to hustle Jim! You kept at it and it paid off. I'm glad the rain was enough to give your tanks a boost but not too much for the root cellar to handle. I give you a lot of credit working during those shorter daylight hours with a headlight on, that's determination. Jess being her rock star self up there on the dome in cold weather shows she's moving ahead with her vision and it's looking really great! Gotta be tough in the colder weather, it's not like she can wear a bunch of layers and still move around safely getting up there so it's good to see she's still smiling. I hope you and the doggos have a very Happy New Year 🥳
Good idea about the rock wall, we in the south have been doing that for 200 years. Works better sing pyramid idea wide bottom to small top! Hope crew is doing good and Jess.
You both are amazing at what you're doing by hand with the cob. You have the ultimate strength, I give you a lot of credit. And I hope your new year is wonderful. You both deserve a hot tub in your house.
Thank you so much!
I should think a hot-tub would be possible, using the water for mass in a mass heater. Just a matter of where to put it...
Happy New Year !!! I still think a drain at the bottom of the stairs is a good idea. But wow… so much progress in such a short amount of time. Much Love from San Francisco!
Sorry I guess we are all arm chair quarterbacks, you got it! No need for troll advice…. Hahah!
@@oyajibluesthat was so far from a troll comment. Are you being a bit over sensitive? As a total amateur builder, I think a drain sounds like a good idea.
To the best of my memory,,, you still haven't used water from the cistern yet? You must have a spear polly tanks worth saved up ah? Ol mate looking good 👍🏻, nice job getting onto the backfill. Well done team 👍🏻 👏
It's great seeing your progress and intriguing to watch your desert life-style. I'm wondering if you've had any owls interested in the owl box.
I hate the cold too. Absolutely hate it.
We can always use rain. Happy New Year Jim and Jess. Always enjoy watching your channel.
At minute 2:09 You can verify Jim and Jess truly live in a desert region with the ever present Cactus Wren making an appearance by the solar array. I wonder if folks know that this is the largest wren in all of North America. They also come with lots of spunky attitude.
Merry Christmas and happy New Year you guys are doing great
Yuvia living her best life, Love it! The cellar looks great. Hope you have a very Happy and cob filled New Year! Thanks for the great content!
Lluvia.
Cool idea about the rocks and cob in this area. I was thinking glass bottles to let in natural light.
Jess I LOVE that sweater you wore when feeding the chickens!
Have a Happy New Year Jim and Jess and Peter!
I would put a rubber membrane over that plywood you have over the root cellar, it would keep the water out and protect the plywood and if you are not building a roof over it get a big truck tire and put it in the center and then the membrane to give it a pitch to shed water better you don't want it ponding up there but we will all watch and see what you do next be safe god bless
I really like your root cellar. Ok and your dogs! Up here in Minnesota when we used to have root/storm cellars, we would cover the stairs with an enclosed entryway. Just thought I’d share this. Great job though!😊
Ms Uv is doing a great job keeping the cattle away from the house. Has she done the same with the snakes?
Just thought of this, are you adding another layer on the floor? If so think about putting gravel small stuff into the cob. Reason stone holds the cold better than just dirt. Just a thought, also can you put so plexiglass around the edges to like sky lights?
Wow, HUGE progress happening!
Happy New Year
Nothing more to add to your water system, you did a great job!
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Way to go you guys! I watch for your site…I’ll be sighing a sigh of relief when your cellar is DRY
Maybe integrating some small stone into the surface of steps and the floor of the cellar would help with grip during rainy weather. 🤷♂️
Jim I hate to say it but the below ground levels will sweat and cause mold issues and eventually the framing will be compromised unless you run dehumidifier s and encapsulate the floors and walls with a vaper barrier! I know it would where I live hopefully not !
Happy New Year! Be Made Blissful! Everyone! 🎉❤👍🖖✨
Coucou , bonjour ,

Happy New Year🎉🎉 It sure did get cold fast. I hope the cellar will be ok when the rain comes.
A healthy new year to you and all your subscribers around the world.
I love the clips with multiple days work on big projects..
Great progress being made.
Happy New Year to you both
Big thank you for sharing❤ Last day of 2023❤
Moving along! Why didn't you fill the space between the joists with earth bags before putting the floor down? How much water is in the big cistern now? How do you make sure it stays free of bad microbes?
may I suggest using pond liner instead of tarps
great job your coming along with your projects be safe and god bless you both and the brother and dogs
Someone told me to try horse manure on my rhubarb. I have to say, I still prefer custard.
Another great video. Happy New Year
Jess.. u layering-up? Ideally some base-layer, silk or wool.. then some bulk, always a windblock material. You're cute in anything. : )
Thanks so much for sharing how well you are rockin' it!
Thanks for watching!
❤

Looking good. Blessings and peace to y'all for the new year 🎉
I'm always grateful for the rain in the desert, at least it didn't flood. Stay warm with the RMH😊
❤TY for the VIDEO 😊 PEACE
Happy New Year best of luck. Looking real good. Nice to see Crew out and about.
In the West you take moisture however, and whenever it comes!
I had a leaky roof. I put the self adhesive ice guard on, it's been on for 5 years and still no leaks and the wind did not even tare it off.
You need a loader to spread those rocks around the root cellar
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! Whoa. I mean Merry New Year and Happy Christmas! No, wait... Oh, I got it! Have a nice Easter! BOOM! Nailed it!
Happy New Year!!!
Making progress is the important thing. Happy New Year!
Seems the big rocks would make it heavy and on the long run will probably make the roof cave in!
You should really share your plans for the root cellar. Please.
Happy New Year to a hardworking couple!
Happy new year!!
Good job!!!😊🎉❤
HAPPY 🎉🎊HAPPY 🎉🎊NEW YEAR 💌
How will you keep rain from going down the stairs?
That's the $100,00 question.
No explanation offered yet,.
That's my burning question as well.
Got 2 trees down for fire wood.👉👉 but CAN BEAT THIS RAIN COMING? I don't think so. But i can get a lot of it splited and cover over. 🤗 🎊🎊 HAPPY NEW YEARS 🎊🎊
That is beautiful rainbows you have out there. Don’t know how hard I sure love watching you guys from long away from the sudden Alberta Canada say happy new year to you both in 2024
🎉Happy New Year 🎉🎉
Happy new year
Whata great guard dog
Hardware cloth is so useful!
I’m enjoying watching your progress. Keep up the good work. I did a gazebo last summer with a wood roof. I used a similar coating as you put on the osb. It kept leaking until I covered it with nylon window screen and another layer of the polymer. No more leaks.
Happy new year ya'll ❤❤👍👍👍✌
Y'all should be proud of what your doing, not everyone can or will even attempt to do what yall are doing. ❤❤👍✌😊
I always look forward to your videos....
*HAPPY🎀NEW🎀YEAR!* ... Beautiful❤People
Happy New Year’s Eve see ya next year
Happy New Year! 🥂
Great work you guys, dog security,to cobbing,to artistic design you are Fab.Happy New Year !
This round of cobbing sure reminds me of how barn swallows build their nests
Hi folks, how will you remove the accumulated rain from the bottom of the root cellar staircase?
Have you considered digging a sump pump well at the bottom of the stairs good way to capture the water and pump it out
Here in Australia our mixer was simply cleaned & covered with a piece of canvas at night, only returned to the shed when the job was done
In our old farm house it had a Storm door to go into the cellar below the house that you entered from outside it was two doors that were 18in to 24in that were a third smaller than standard doors slanted at maybe 30degree angle after opening you decended down a flight of stairs maybe a set up like this may help keep the rain and water from going down into the root cellar .good luck
Why not put storm cellar door enclosure on your root cellar. It will keep the water from going down the stairs into the cellar.
Happy New year be safe love from canada.
Happy new year!!
As always, a great video. Root cellar is back, and looking good!!! Happy New year and may 2024 be more prosperous and well recieved.
🏅Para lluvia 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
QUESTIONS: have ya'll ever looked into using animals to heal the land. There are animals that thrive in the dessert and are really good for the land and replenishing topsoil. It seems you have the land, why not utilize it?
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys.
make stone wall to protect a garden its very god . happy new year
Happy New Year guys! And dogs!👍😎
Happy New Year ❤🎉.
I wish you guys a wonderful Happy New Year and best wishes.🎆🥂 Love and be safe!😘🤗🎄🇻🇪
Happy New Year to you all and may all your wishes become reality in this new year Jess has a high vitamin D usage than most people. We all need a little extra something to keep us going some it’s meat, some it’s calcium what does it matter as long as we all get want we need and get it when it’s required without putting anyone at risk. Keep sunny.
You certainly have plenty of rocks to work with
Happy New Year 🎉
Happy new year thanks for sharing 😀👍
HAPPY NEW YEAR JIM AND JESS!!
Looking good guys and happy New Year
Would something, like glass bottles worked for those spaces to allow light into the root cellar ?
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
