Lyrics:
Show me the place where you want your slave to go
Show me the place I've forgotten I don't know
Show me the place where my head is bendin' low
Show me the place where you want your slave to go
Show me the place, help me roll away the stone
Show me the place, I can't move this thing alone
Show me the place where the word became a man
Show me the place where the suffering began
The troubles came I saved what I could save
A thread of light, a particle, a wave
But there were chains, so I hastened to behave
There were chains, so I loved you like a slave
Show me the place where you want your slave to go
Show me the place I've forgotten I don't know
Show me the place where my head is bendin' low
Show me the place where you want your slave to go
The troubles came I saved what I could save
A thread of light, a particle, a wave
But there were chains, so I hastened to behave
There were chains, so I loved you like a slave
Show me the place
Show me the place
Show me the place
Show me the place, help me roll away the stone
Show me the place, I can't move this thing alone
Show me the place where the word became a man
Show me the place where the suffering began - เพลง
This is a prayer, a religious hymn. A cry of surrender and subdued protest to God's mysterious ways.
Timeless poignancy in this hymn like offering from Mr Cohen.
The terminality of man, the surrender, the endurance, the weight of responsibility and the vulnerability in prayerful submission.
Today I learnt Leonard Cohen passed away two weeks ago. And I feel It's a pity he is not going to compose such inspiring songs anymore. Anyways some persons pass through life without bringing anything worthy to others, and that's not his case. What an honor to leave without this regret. Thanks Leonard
GREAT ARTIST..POET.. TROVADOR ..Since I was 18 , I am 61 now. Privilege to see him in Chicago where I live now. THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC
"Not a song, not a poem. A psalm." (Leon Bertoletti, Literary Suplement) !!!
Just a little more of nothing
... a hymn ...
yes indeed, a psalm...."David had a secret chord."
You know what was the 2nd best career for Leonard Cohen after singing is psychology, he is the Freud singer...
Oh Leonard you are a legend and a beautiful person.. I love you💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Mr. Cohen you know how to talk to Lord. My tears come down every time hear this song, I can see you standing in front of the weeping wall, whispering to our Lord.
We still miss you so much, Mr. Cohen.
My closest friend passed away a week ago. It wasn't until I heard this song, I could cry. I hope they meet each other in paradise.
I just found you a short time ago. I did not know you while you lived. But loving you has made me a better woman. Thank you for helping to move the stone.
Legends do not die. They fade away and will remain in our hearts forever.
It seems, to me, that Leonard Cohen thinks about God in a far more profound way than many can. That's what I see in this song, anyway. What an incredible soul.
it's literally in his DNA.....descended from Rabbis ,carrying the surname of the royal priesthood then being born and raised in Montreal, he saw gatherings of black habit wearing nuns, or the nuns all dressed in white....he saw crucifixes everywhere in that outpost of France ....he must have looked long and hard at that tortured and crucified Jew, who comes in and out of so many of the poemsongprayers from his soul to G-d, to us on behalf of G-d and to G-d on behalf of us, and he seems intuitively to know we will take into our beings , in perfect eternal turning, the poemsongprayer and make it all, G-d him and you and I our own.
You wil see this quite a different-Much more human way. It is the magic of good poetry that it is mysteriously ambiguous. Good luck!
@David McGivern yes exactly!
God is a dictator.. Michael the strongest angel do his bidding.. hmmm
I like Lucifer he understood the definition of dictatorship and chose to die with a rebellion against God.. I guess if we stop worshipping God he will fade away and we can be free from slavery.. and mister Cohen understood that.. yup

RIP L.Cohen....for there was no one among men who knew me like you did...your words, music and wisdom was a true companion
He was one of the prophets.
At Gods time, this song pop out of my TH-cam …it’s my moms birthday 2022 and pondering on a thought that have been in my mind for a long long time now… “wondering if I was born a slave”. … now this song brings me to my knees and Grateful that I was born a slave😌😌😌
Beyond doubt one of the greatest poets, songwriters and singers in any century-rarely equalled.
Its like a very beautiful Hymn.
You are my Soul Mr Cohen.
Thank you for expressing what my heart couldn't understand.
RIP
Now you know where the suffering ends.
😢
Goodbye Leonard. Thank you. R.I.P.
how special was this man and his gift? So fine, so fine, I will carry your songs until my time comes.
This man was special. He brought something so unique to this world; I miss him deeply and I, along with others who have written here, am going to carry his songs, deep in the recesses of my heart, until my end comes.
Oh, my God. i didn't think it was possible for Cohen to rise even higher. But he has. This is transcendent.
So beautiful so sweet, so strong, so true, so trusting, such love
Each word, one deep feeling: a velvet textured voice ...and skin.
Such a profound voice... That's make me cry..
What an unbelievably beautiful song--I almost want to say psalm--from the great Leonard Cohen. He understands the many shackles of the world, especially pride and ignorance, that keep us from our true nature. And yet there is a profound conversion from master to man, from holding the chains to bending the head low, from doubt to faith--a faith only possible through brotherhood: removing the stone together.
oh my god.
this just became my favorite song of his. i am in tears.
RIP Leonard, we will remember you and your music!!
This is such a beautiful and complex song. Look beyond the words and you see how LC points out the mysteries of something as pure and simple as light.
my LORD. thank you for leonard c. i guess HE showed me a place. thank you
Absolutely love this man and his velvet voices. Been listening for 36 years now and never lost him as my favourite. Beautiful heart.
i agree with you completely.
THANK YOU JESUS....
the place is in each and everyone's heart.......love and forgiveness are the key.
A song that touches my heart deeply.
One of the best songs ever written
One of the greatest songwriters of all time
Leonard was a true hero and gentleman
I am so glad I saw him live twice
He always called his audience 'friends '
So - thank you my friend Leonard
You will never be forgotten
Your music will still be heard in 1000 years
RIP
I'm jealous. He was at the top of my bucket list, but it never happened ................
Me too. Jazz fest Montreal
agree. considering he died some few years later he did this last run as an old man because he got screwed by his manage. Its sad. But he did his most personal music
The world is sad tonight, we will miss you my friend. RIP.
Still sad forever ...
show me the place...... show me the place..... RIP Leonard Cohen...
Rest now and be with the angels, my beloved poet. Gratitude!
Sometimes it can very difficult to express your feelings in words that are spoken or written. This writer had no trouble doing just that.Words with a great message
Ah Leonard ... you have been such a part of so many moments in my life, happy and sad. You've shown me the beauty in sadness that is just never as deep or as beautiful in moments of happiness. I thank you xx
Thank you for your fine words.
RIP! You had a velvet voice and a golden heart! Sing to the angels!!
R.I.P. Leonard Cohen
This is a brilliant song by a brilliant man at the end of his life. This song should be treasured
the Man is a Saint!
When I first heard this song on the radio, back when it came out, I was moved to tears.
me too.
Tears of joy!
It still does Josph after all this time...A wonderful song by an amazing, wonderful, beautiful man...
On the radio? Really? Makes me happy to know he is still going out over the airwaves. Such a loss, his last three albums are incredible.
I fell in love with him the day we met. The day He died I met him. I normally dont love a singer. I doubt I ever loved a singer. He reached so far in his songs that reached to all my written poetry, unpublished. He is a song that inspired my awakening in his death, a beautiful story. I suppose it is between us. I think he met me without me knowing it.
Now you are at this place
RIP Leonard
there's nothing else to say... he's the poet of all time
We will never forget you Leonard
*Merci infiniment 'LeonardCohen' Johnny de Bangkok, directement de la THAILAND*
I love you Leonard Cohen, you are an Incredible poet, songwriter, your words are embedded in my soul. R.I.P
I can relate to this poem more than I probably SHOULD be able to. xx
ich höre seine Musik seit über 40 Jahren, und jetzt lese ich R.i.p.
vielen dank für ihre Musik Mr: Cohen
I want to listen to you forever. Thank you. RIP
As I see it it's a beautiful prayer in submission to the Lord, I interpret the rolling away of the stone as the ressurection of Christ in his life. I'm like him, just a slave, humbly looking for the Lord's will. Christ be praised!
I love the songs Leonard Cohen writes. He sure knows about life.
Words of a great poet. I try to understand thank you.
Such profound pain...makes me want to cry. Such a beautiful song.
Oh my heart..he was a genius with his music and poetry.....
He touches you like no other artist. The spiritual yearning for The Father held back by worldly attachments.
Thanks L Cohen. For me as a man you showed me that we two, you and I, are both a Suzanne and a Marianne.
Where is this kind of man, very very rare
Im constantly asking myself, is this a love song or a song for tears? But now I know its both!
Pure genius. Still singing to us sweetly from the tower of song.
God bless you Leonard.
Thank you for the music.
#RIP
Thank you for the poetry Leonard.
Fantastic. RIP dear man, unique to the world.
Leonard Cohen was truly a Great writer and I can't see anyone taking his place in Music History in the near future. Sadly missed.
Aussie Chrisso 🎶🤠
My thought when I listen to every one of his songs is, "My God, how did he know that!?"
He knows everything.. 😁
To ask our Creator that question indicates prior knowledge that only comes from the invisible One. face book tony mandrell
Although I dislike the religious connotation this poem has I feel it's sheer beauty Leonard presents me.
He must be saying things I can not understand but I do feel, somehow, I still do.
Like-button is not enough when speaking of music like this. For these few special ones we need Love-button.
Thumbs up again, leonard is the only artist that i know of that could stand in front of any dignitaries or royality or just audience and use any language he choose eloquently, brilliant (cardboard & piss) the man is just magic.
Just when I think I've interpreted a song, I listen again and find something new, an artist by definition is this man
Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us. You are such a blessing. I too have met you in my heart. We are all that speck.
Thanks Leonard for helping the ones with chains....
just so beautiful; no other words needed
grand respect à toi Léonard,on est tous tellement tristes...
In a Land where So much seems to Hurt....There is a place. This Place is where Leonard Cohen speaks so Perfectly. Rest in LOVE.
Brilliant! Miss you! Thanks for all you left us!
I looked your photo and thought "how nice, you're still living" 3 days ago...After two days you had gone and I learnt it today. It really made me feel sad :( I wish you could hear me but I know it is most likely impossible.Nothing after death...Thanks for all your songs and your impression on us.Life is a voyage and you did it well
Quand les mots du poète laissent entrvoir la lumière à travers les tentacules de l'hydre.
i am a massive BobDdylan fan, but Leonard your are sure his equal. may your soul go on forever
Mi commuove sempre questo brano
Leonard,
You kept my flame going so many times. I'm sorry we put it out. We're going to fix that. I'll listen to your music and tell you all about it.
Leonard Cohen I love you so much, maybe I will never meet you, but my heart has met your.
Beautiful words.
you/yours?
wouter van I made a mistake. Yours? :)
Probabil ca "wouter van" nu face niciodata greseli! El este perfectia intruchipata! :-(
Multumesc Wanda :),cred si eu ca se intelegea ce am scris dar nu este nimic, din greseli se invata. ;)
God bless you Leonard.
The troubles come, I saved what I could save
A thread of light, a particle, a wave
But there were chains, so I hastened to behave
There were chains, so I loved you like a slave...
That's why he is the best artist ever known.
Thank you Leonard Cohen for your music, words and voice :-)
a great man
A part of my life for over 60 years. What a poet who can tweek emotions with a phrase. Thanks for the dance Leonard...x
It seems to me a long farewell, I only want to cry...
Live lost
gracias Señor Leonard
Thank You Mr Cohen for helping me through all my secret heartbreaks. I don't feel so alone when I hear your songs, because I can hear that you have loved and lost as deeply as I have.
Amen.... Well put.
This is not a song about love or loss. He is asking the Lord to lend a helping hand so he can complete his "leap of faith", a struggle many of us are going through.

I love this gentleman and his words/songs so very much. Thank you Mr L Cohen for helping me through so many times past and present. I miss you. God bless you.
@@doublewings8273 He plays with words so beautifully that they can have multple layers of meanings. A true poet.
A stupendous voice rowing slowly through the sacred groove with words to prove the blue.
This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
I want to be Leonard Cohen when I grow up!
his truths are painful .... yet beautiful .... sing to me some more ........ please, keep on singing ....
