Great question, im a maintenance mechanic at a factory. I bought a guy that was retiring he said it was over 20k in tools. Think I paid him 1k and on my own tool boxes. 7k to 10k at work and I have clue about the tools I have at home also. It is kind of mindblowing when you think about it.
As a DIY'er, I'm probably in the 15k area. As far as borrowing tools. If you borrow twice, buy it. Chances are, if you've used it twice, your gonna use it more. So just buy it and now you have your own. And 350 isnt too damn bad for a security camera system. 400 with a storage hard drive. Cheap security to me.
I know in my shop i work at we only have 3 techs and we’re all pretty damn permanent so we really share some expensive tools so we all dont have to buy them, like only one guy has a really nice fuel pressure test kit and we all use it, another guy’s got the giant impact gun when we need it, it all balances out but in a less tight-knit shop the borrow twice then buy it thing makes so much sense

I'm DIY...I just built a $35k garage and have about $30-$40k in tools....(and boxes and other storage) in it... We need a new upload brotha....👍 I really resist loaning my stuff out...I've bought tools for people (cheaper versions) rather than loan out mine...lol...or i shoot them a link in a text to buy there own...I clean up my tools when I'm done and I ALWAYS lock EVERYTHING UP... no windows in my shop/garage...and I have ADT and motion lights with video....got signs too.....
Not too bad I've probably only spent around 7-10k.. a few snap on things and milwakee but other then that just some Harbor freight wratchets sockets extensions.. craftsman box.. 7 years in making really good money in the diesel industry with these tools
My shop is my garage. And yes i do have insurance. I have to cuz if we loose the house i can replace all my tools . I use my tools everyday running my own business. I have about 30k of tools/boxes . Which isnt that much but hey . It works for me . +im still not done buying tools . #gearwrenchtools
I know this is off the subject but on the icon toolbox that you have how deep are the drawers I know the box itself is 25 inches but home deep is the drawers when their pulled out

I think I've spent around 50k to 60k over a 10 year period. That includes my tools and tool storage. I am a dealer tech.
Really important that your camera system be able to save the recording into the cloud. If someone still your hard drive you lose everything.
