    Top gate anchor should point down so the gate doesn’t lift off.

    If it wasn't mentioned, Auger your bit down a few inches before you disconnect from the 3PH. Then it stands up on its own and you can keep your shaft QD clean.

    Great fence video......only I believe the gate hooks should be mounted to eliminate someone removing the gate. The top on should go down and botton one should go up

      Got it. Yes. I need to fix that. I am working on fencing in an acre now for a new horse that is coming soon and I will definitely get the gates hung right on that one.

      All he has to do now is drill another hole into the post just above the top hinge and install a large coach screw or rebar into the post that will prevent the gate from being removed easily.

    Do you know what type of boards you used on your 4 board fence? Thanks

    Great work. Are you using true 1x6 corral boards for your rails? They looked thicker. Thanks for answering. I’ll have to catch up on all the fence work you did after this!

    Gorgeous fence. Any sag with those gate posts? I see lots of people use some braces/stringers. I'm about to install the same gate in a rocky/clay field. I am planning to use the same 8-inch posts set in concrete. Thanks!

      No sag at all. I have now installed the two 8 ft gates, a 10 ft gate and two 6 ft gates and none have shown any sag yet.
      Thanks for watching.

    Totally enjoy your videos. Putting up 4 board fence, what do you do about Coyotes and dogs.

      Our dogs have done a good job keeping the coyotes away and other dogs from roaming onto our property like they used to do. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy the videos.

    Love this. I’ll be doing the same in a month! What size auger did you get?

      Glad you liked it. It is the Land Pride PD15 with a 9" flight. The hole it dug was about a foot in diameter though. Good luck with your project.

    If you clean the hole out with the augur then shut pto off at button of hole it will get all the dirt out.

      I just finished putting in around 100 posts for the horse fence and quickly learned this. Thanks for watching and giving the good advice.

    Are those 8” or 6” post?

    • @FromScratchRanch
      @FromScratchRanch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The big main posts the gates are mounted to are 8" posts. The other fence posts are the 4/5" posts.

    How many acres do you have

    • @FromScratchRanch
      @FromScratchRanch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      47 acres. 7 of it is pasture and the other 40 is all heavily wooded where we plan to cut in horse and ATV trails.

    You don’t black tar your post 3 ft before you put them in .

  • @onlyonespike

    Suggestion. Rent a post driver and save 75% of your time.

    • @robertbutler8004

      Why would they rent a post driver when he has a tractor and a post hole auger and time is there own.?
