Their entire relationship is built around their connection with suffering, murder, sadness (Castle's father, Beckett's mother), but the song to me feels like a way of describing both of them letting the light in. Their world is dark, but they each brought light into the others life. Out of sadness comes joy and love. I think it's brilliant how the song starts off almost bittersweet but ends in an explosion of life and passion. Very telling of their relationship. Geek out over. For my money their relationship is one of the most nuanced and real on TV
