Hey bruh, had my MPC Live 2 sitting on the shelf for the last 2 and half years while I used Maschine MK3. MPC was too confusing or maybe it was just, but your tutorial here literally has me pulling it off the shelf and updating to 3.0! If you continue to break down the MPC like this I will be subbing. Thanks ✌🏽
@@Soundwave_King1 I feel that, I was hella hesitant to upgrade, but I really like 3.0 so far, and it seems like it really is a major upgrade, it just takes a little getting used to.
I'm really hesitant to upgrade, as it took a giid while to get used the mpc one 2.15. Now I'm worried I will have another long learning curve.Like your attitude and style .
@@JP-yp1ry welcome!! I’ll be posting another tutorial focused on Arranger Mode this evening. I think you’re gonna love the MPC, it’s such a dope machine.
Thanks for this. As a lapsed user, all the 3.0 hype got me to turn the mpc on again and I’m at sea. Between the changes and just not remembering shit, I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing.
This tutorial was extremely helpful. I definitely will be switching up some things in my workflow because of this video. I’m used to performing my drums on one track but you have way more control in tracking them out separately. This was 🔥🔥
Yeah man, there's also another technique to explode the tracks, so you can have the best of both worlds. I explain it in the new video I just recorded, I'll have it up this evening
Bruh. Why can't there be more videos like this? I appreciate the people that so tutorials, but it's so frustrating when every video is just a broad walk-through, a focus on one function, or like a 5-hour long masterclass. I just need the basics of how to make a beat. This is *perfect*. You sprinkled in just the right amount of additional nuances just in case we might need them. Very good job, bro. I'm subscribing off of this video alone.
Thanks, great content I've been learning this 3.0. Wished they would've improved the sound instead of the workflow. I was just getting into the workflow, then they go and changed it
I feel you, learning a new workflow can be frustrating. Glad this content is helping! I see you got that SP 1200 as well, love the sound of those machines. I have an Isla S2400, which has that great 12 bit crunch also.
@EveryoneProduces yea, I love that 1200. Am still learning it. I have to stay consistent with my learning of this machine. I use the MPC X to lay down ideas and then I finish up on the 1200. Had to pull back on trying to do production because I didn't have a good foundation. For the last couple of months, I've been working on my theory and learning my machines (Roland Fantom 06, MPC X and SP 1200) all midi together I've been having a ball learning my machines and how I can use them with the 1200. I have a Fostex Model 250 four track recorder I want to eventually run the 1200 through then go to my Tascam Model 12, and see what that sounds like. Am looking to add the Rupert Neve Design Channel Strip in the next couple of months. Once I learn the workflow of that chain, I'll look more seriously at my production. Right now am stacking beats. Want to take my three best beats to produce to full song and see what happens. Sorry to be so long but am so excited about music and relearning some of what I've forgotten and what's new.
@@jayjohnson9894 Nah man no worries I love talking about this stuff. Your setup sounds ill. That Tascam Model 12 is fantastic. One day I hope to have an 2"tape machine to run some stuff through.
What were your bass settings? Can't seem to find a good setting for mine? Thank you so much! My fiancee got me one of these for xmas. Learning a lot from your vids
For this beat I was using the regular Akai Bassline plug in, on the first setting, Fat Sine. I would probably pull the Octave down 1 or 2, and if you are using pads, but it in a key setting. I go through it a little more in this video th-cam.com/video/AtvMpXZ5w14/w-d-xo.html starting at 11:14
When building a drum kit how do you rearrange sounds on pads? Like If I have kick drum on first pad how can I move it to second pad etc? I could do this easy on V2 but can't find it on v3. Thanks
It's in Sample Assign, you can just drag and drop from the Sample Pool. I will touch on it in the video I make today if you haven't figured it out by then. Good luck!
@EveryoneProduces I never seen that option. But I will hunt for it right now. I would make a video on that because I see that same question on other people's videos. That's for fast reply
Need some help here, brand new to MPC and following along but I’m stuck after the chops, I convert everything but everytime I hit a pad it triggers say the kick AND the chop at the same time, I checked and turnt the global setting on each track to mono and that has not fixed my issue, any advise would be appreciated, cheers..

When you recorded the kick and set it to 60% swing. Does that swing only affect the kick track or does it affect the whole project?
It will affect everything you record from that point forward, until you set it to another swing level
Can you have effects on just 1 pad?
Yeah, if you go into Program Edit, there is a tab on the bottom left of the screen that says EFFECTS, you can add effects to individual pads there.
