    To my knowledge depending on the year off npp exhaust it's already done factory. I believe it was 10-13 that's done from factory.

      yeah those are about 5-10db louder

    That was very interesting. If you didn’t want a quiet mode option would this be the same as just removing the mufflers?
    Enjoyed the video explanation.

      Technically yes. In loud mode it is effectively a straight pipe through the muffler, bypassing all of the sound suppression.
      I will say that the X-Pipe, cats, and resonator do a fairly good job of keeping the noise down, even in “loud” mode (aka mufflers removed). If you’re looking for significantly more volume you definitely are going to want a set of headers. It’s where I’m at right now.

    I have the cut out set up on my C6. I really don't use it so is there a simple way to lock it in the quiet mode? Can I ask one more question? Is it possible that the exhaust cut out could be causing a parasitic drain on my battery? ( I pulled the fuse on it, and it went to the loud mode.)

    How did you weld both sides of the 2.5" pipe over the perforated section? Or did you only weld the one side? Loved the explanation of how these mufflers work with the valve, appreciated that.

      @GridForgeMFG  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment Nate! Good question. We just welded as far as we could reach, which was most of it. You could cut the other side of the muffler open to close the weld completely, but I thought it was unnecessary.

      Thanks for the comment Arthur. I meant to! I recorded this a few months ago and forgot to film that. It’s basically the same volume as before, maybe a tiny bit louder.

    Well, that still work with a basic muffler without the NPP?

    Only wish you had a better explanation of removing them from the car. I have it loose but not enough room to clear the rear frame cross member

    • @GridForgeMFG
      @GridForgeMFG  ปีที่แล้ว

      I raised the car high enough so that I could rotate the whole system down (towards the ground) and back. As long as you can get it high up enough it should just come out.

    I put the old style turbo mufflers on my 2011 grand sport. A little bracket mods and I was in business. The sound is INFINITELY better than that sh*tty popping and crackling noise. It's got that heavy deep sound a vette is supposed to have...

    Hi thanks for the great was the 2,5 inch pipe sufficient? I see in some clips a 3,5” pipe is needed

    • @GridForgeMFG
      @GridForgeMFG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Been a while since I tackled this. You could try to use 3.5”, but it may be too large and you’d have gaps in the welding. I had good luck using the 2.5” as seen in the video.

    I would just ask a steel shop to cut the big muffle off, save the rips and add a pipe so the stock loock stay but the mufflers are no longer there

    DUDE! Don't say "motor." The thing that powers your Corvette is an "engine," not a "motor!" Motors are electric. Engines use gasoline. Look it up.

      🤣I got a kick out of this, my shop teacher would say the same. My comeback was if that's the case, Ford would say Ford Engine Company not Ford Motor Company. A Outboard would be a Outboard Engine, not Outboard Motor, etc.

      @@SteveBurnsed Many people speak English poorly and incorrectly. Examples are numerous, not just in the automotive world. Take vegetables, for instance. Carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, corn, bell peppers, artichokes, peas, and many other foods are all considered "vegetables." None of them are. They are, in order: root crop, fruit, fruit, grain, fruit, flower, seed. Go to the frozen-food section of your local store & grab a bag of "mixed vegetables." It will contain no vegetables.
