Jessica Knits Episode 46: Two sweaters, new socks, and a pretty pile of yarn

- Welcome to Episode 46 of my knitting podcast! The cast on frenzy of this winter has now ended, and I am left having to knit 8 sleeves all at once. In this episode, I share two of my current sweater WIPS, a new sock cast on, and the yarn from my own flock of sheep.

WORK IN PROGRESS:
Two sweater WIPS today!
The first one is the Violet Cardigan. This design is knit in Bare Naked Wools Better Breakfast Fingering. The pattern will be released on June 24th. Make sure to sign up for my email newsletter! view.flodesk.com/pages/619546...
The second sweater is Autumn Snowfall. This design is being knit in North Bay Fiber Heritage Sport and will be released sometime in August.
The socks are called Among the Wildflowers. It is being knit in Retrosaria Mondim. Hopefully I’ll have this design out very soon!

The yarn is from our own flock of Finnsheep. The gray shade is the natural, undyed fleece colors of 6 of our sheep. The sheep’s fleeces included are Kili, Fili, Clove, Millie, Juniper, and Luna. This yarn will be available to purchase later this summer.

Sorry had to make a second comment..... congratulations on your first batch of yarn! Its so beautiful. I would totally make a cardigan but i am sure anything will be lovely. I am becoming quite a natural wool and breed specific yarn enthusiast . So gorgeous. I wish i werent 1000 miles away i would happily come and wash it all for you!
Hi Jessica - we have a company called Wild Earth Yarns here in New Zealand that often sell their hanks with the proviso that they need to be washed especially if you are not hand dyeing them. I think you could easily make that a condition and put it on your labels 🧶🇳🇿

I think your own yarn would look nice in your Wildhorse pattern .
Your yarn looks amazing and would work for a Guernsey/Gansey pattern - purls and plains in horizontal designs.🐑
Omg!! I’m in the same boat! I started making a few of my WIPs short sleeves because 10 sleeves is just a bit too much for me!!!
Nice to know that even a designer ends up on sleeve island. I have tried knitting two sleeves on one circular, but have never used DPNs. Your yarn looks lovely. Could you knit a worsted version of Riverlands? The cable pattern would look amazing! Congratulations!
As others have commented, I am so glad you are back! The Violet Cardigan looks cute on you, and I anticipate making one for myself. (I need to try both North Bay Fiber and Barrett Wool Company woolen spun yarns. Your description of the "woolen spun experience" has peaked my curiosity for sure.) The Autumn Snowflake sweater is cute too ... sometimes I worry about patterns at the bottom of sweaters, so I'll be interested to see the sweater in pictures on a real body! (I try to avoid attention to my "middle"!) Finally, your own yarn looks wonderful, and I suspect you are going to sell out quickly. I may need to splurge if I am able to secure some before it is gone. Again, welcome back!

Jessica, can’t wait to try your yarn out! You have beautiful patterns. Your stars are very crisp in your designs ~ were you thinking that they are like the “Selbu” stars in the Scandinavian designs? Very much so, I love them. Nice episode! 💕
Hi Jessica. Making family first is always the best choice, happy to see you back. Your new designs are lovely. I find the drop shoulder, contiguous (whatever it is called) design confusing, so I do hope you will be able to film a 'how-to' construct the shoulder portion for your Autumn Snowfall. Jessica your cardigan and snowflake sweater look wonderful!!!! I’m excited for you and your husband coming full circle with your sheep and now having yarn from them!!! I be been knitting just about 10 months now and I would love to try your yarn. I was thinking about a cardigan. Would your new cardigan pattern be appropriate for your yarn? I would appreciate if you review the weight of the yarn again. I have knit one sweater so far and it was your Woodsmoke sweater. I made a toddler size for a family member and was very pleased on how it came out. I look forward to knitting more of your designs. Thank you for sharing 😊

I’m on sleeve island for my first sweater..ugh going to buckle up and finish The Sleeves! I really like all your patterns and have several but waiting to start one after sleeve island. I still knit winter projects in the summer to be ready for the winter. “Snail pace “ knitting. 😅
