Yeah, personally its about finding that intersection between what you like doing, what people will pay for and what you're good at.

What if you're not passionate about any of it, so instead looking for the most practical role.

Currently what I believe is often Company have overlaps in the requirements among these roles, like data visualisation inside data engineers and vice versa. So Companies should more focus on segregating the responsibilities based on the Job Role first.what say @Seattle Data Guy

This does have some dependence on company size. At larger companies I do think there is value in treating data work more like an assembly line. But smaller companies usually these roles are hybrid. Also there should be some room for people to work across skills if they want to change roles. So in theory its probably best for the company to have roles very clearly delineated . In practice, this can be a very different story.

I don't mind doing a bit of everything to keep things interesting. Rotating within the company. Thanks for sharing.

Great video! I am wondering whether skills are easily transferable between the roles? Especially between analytics engineering and data engineering? Would I be easily able to move from analytics eng to data eng or vice versa?

I often feel that analytics engineer has often been part of data engineering for a while. I used to just tell people that there were a few archtypes of data engineers. Now analytics engineer has started to partition the two roles better.

What would be helpful is. building up your sql and python experience as well as data warehousing and etl/elt concepts.
Also you can dig a little into dbt. Here is a video th-cam.com/video/8FZZivIfJVo/w-d-xo.html

I heard that many people say data engineer = sql boy, is that true? I am interested in data engineer, but I want to develop systems.

It can depend. But if you want to be extra sure look for roles that are usually described as Software Engineer - Data or something like that.
