No, not a stacked sensor in the Fuji GFX 100 II, the stacked sensor types is not as good as BSI-CMOS sensor types for high resolution still photography ! I you want a video-cam get another. I think youtubers focus too much on video function on all kind of cameras, stop that ! The majority of all camera users never use video. I want to see more Cameras without any video functions !!!

I am very happy with my GFX100. The new sensor does not have too much difference. Just a better video camera.

Given that the XPAN mode is about half the sensor, I'd love to see an X-Pro Hybrid VF camera in the GFX line with a half-sized XPAN-esque sensor. That way that could supply twice as many units with the same wafers, and fulfill our X-Pro lust.
Also given that Voigtlaender and Fuji collaborated on MF film rangefinders not that long ago, they could co-brand some VG manual focus lenses with contacts for the HybrodVF.

I agree on a fixed lens GX100R. But mine would be paired with a 28mm f2.2-ish. But beware: If you compete with the Q3, you better mean it. So have it pretty by clean design taken from X100V, the hybrid VF and crop modes that let you do square and portrait modes in camera.

Thank you Take for the level-headed review. I've been tempted by the 'ultimate' 102 MP IQ, but in reality I hardly ever use all that my X-Pro3 or especially XH2 have to offer. And the smaller form factor is such an advantage in the field. BTW, enjoying your recent foggy shots around Vancouver on FB. 👍👍

It’s going to be time that Fuji will come with a monochrome sensor camera … a lot of people are waiting for a monochrome sensor/ noir camera .

❤video Take one thing you missed and most reviews miss is the subject of 16 bit rather than just the MP. But as you know when shooting continuous the bit drops to 13 which Fujifilm failed to mention in their launch and brochures

Back in the film days, I used to looove Reala 100 film. Having said that, I shoot RAW only in digital, so limited use. That 55 does look sweet for environmental portraits. Use a 50/3.5 for that now, which is very nice but optically not quite as special as that 55, I think. Hmm....

One problem with the GFX is that the shutter lag in manual mode is caused by the aperature. The camera forces you to focus with the aperature wide open regardless of what your setting is. So it needs to close down the aperature after you press the shutter. Maybe there is a way to disable this?

    • @keylanph
      @keylanph 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

The way to disable this is kind of hacky but it’s now most digital cameras operate. Essentially you must use the DOF preview button to have the camera set your desired aperture and then you press the lens dismount latch and slightly twist your lens so the electronics are not connected. I have to do this all the time with canon when im shooting products that will need to be composited later.

@@keylanph Ah that makes sense. GFX lenses are also focus by wire so both the focus and the aperature would lock upon disconnecting. They really need to add an “aperature preview while focusing” option. I understand why setting focus wide open lets you be more precise due to shallow depth of field, but sometimes a fast shutter is more important.
Strangely, single shot mode with MF assist enabled lets you adjust focus with the aperture at the desired setting so it solves the lag. The only problem is that it resets focus when the shutter button is released unless you hold the focus hold button.
It’s a bit disingenuous for the manual mode to play these aperature tricks. I can manually open and close it if I want to use it to help me focus. I want the ability to make the lens behave like an actual manual lens, that’s why I’m using manual mode.

If I had the old GFX 100 I would sell it and get the new GFX 100 II because it is smaller and more light weight, it has 8 stops IBIS and an excellent EVF. The Lenses I would get is the 30mm 3.5, 45mm 2.8 and 80mm 1.7. A 55mm which is equivalent to a 43mm full frame Lens is not good for portrait, go for 80mm or longer for Fuji GFX for portrait.

Thanks for the review! One thing I'd like to see is Fuji pushing the newer sims down to all of the X, at least X-T3, cameras. Seems like a silly limitation to me...

I have traded in my 100s for a 100II. Not because of the IQ, but the 100II is really faster and better build. The experience of shooting a 100II is different and better. The camera just feels better; more professional. One of the major issues I had with the 100s, losing connection while shooting tethered, is also solved. The usb connector on the camera feels much more solid. It sucks when you are on a shoot with a client and your tethering connection fails a couple of times. Ok, it's not cheap, but you get a whole lot of camera for your money.

Hey I'm sure you hear this a lot but what is a good vloging style camera for someone new to videography/taking pictures? I have a crap inherited family camera from many years ago but just want something easy and decent. Technolgy scares/confuses me but what is the most seemless way to do a vlog. Budget is fairly open but looking to stay under 1500 USD. Ive heard that people are just using iphone cameras because of convenience and maybe that would be the best? I dont have one and I like the idea of buying a camera meant to be a camera. Thanks

I would never shoot 1.7 for portraits....2.8 or 3.2 that way nose eyes and cheeks are in face in focus.
