I used to live and work in NZ for 3 years in early 2000. The Kiwis, whatever religion they observe, are the friendliest, humblest people on earth. It was pouring cats and dogs when arrived at Auckland International, and the cab driver said, "I am sorry, sir, that you have to arrive in our country in this weather." He apologized even though it was not his fault at all. It was July, and that kind of weather is expected.
It broke my heart to hear such a horrible act of terrorism taken place in such a peaceful country.

Why do you all have to use such absurd hyperbole? Apologising for the weather is a completely normal thing - I've been told the exact same thing in tonnes of countries. It's basic empathy. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice place, it just is categorically not THE friendliest or nicest place in the world.

Thank you, but as a kiwi, New Zealand needs to take accountability too. While the terrorist may not have been a New Zealander, this happened in our country, we gave him guns (when Australia wouldn't have) and he was able to fuel his hateful ideologies with other New Zealanders - far right/white supremacy exists in our country too and we've been ignoring it. But you are right, the best we can do from this is wake up and call out racists, not just sit in silence or ignore it, and not be like the 200 people that viewed his livestream and said nothing. I think that's how we can honor the lives of those 50 people killed. Arohanui always to our Australian brothers and sisters.

@@wrathc53 EXACTLY MY POINT! There are some incredible and mind blowing people in New Zealand. As a complete population however it is average. There is an enormous amount of hatred and greed in this country - just look at the Deputy Prime Minister! Before this attack there was widespread and open hostility to foreigners (I doubt thats vanished - it will slowly creep back as people lose interest in these attacks), homosexual and transgender people are constantly abused (even people who otherwise seem nice do it - I know many really nice people who would do things like refuse to call a transgender acquaintance by their new name because they "aren't a real girl"), sensitive or mentally ill people are just told to "harden up" if they're struggling ("take a concrete pill" etc was something I'd never heard before I moved here, for example) - no wonder we have such high suicide rates. I could go on and on. It's a nice, decent country (why I chose to move here!), but it is not special - and the quicker we can get that out of people's heads, the quicker we can improve.

That said, I still think we need more explanation for the 10m before and the 20m after the shooting started (she received his email 10m before and for 20m after he was left with no intervention). I don't doubt her sincerity though. Moreover, at the court ... one count of murder? no terrorism charges? ... totally unacceptable. This terrorist is proud of murdering 50 innocent lives in cold blood including women and children and seriously injured 50 more and by airing his despicable acts wanting to ignite the whole Earth making it unsafe for humanity and no terrorism charges?!!!

Thoughts, prayers and love cannot be resolve these problems unless EVERYONE expresses it, and we don't have a country where that is even under discussion. @@Ultimaton100 Yeah dude that african man in italy that tried to burn school children inside a bus must be a Trump supporter right? I bet you didn't know about that. How bout the terrorists who killed at least 270 Christians in Nigeria, must be Trump supporter too. The suicide bomber that killed 40 indian soldiers in kashmir, definitely a Trump supporter. Maidan Shar, 126 security personnel were killed and around 70 others were injured, when the Taliban (a fanatical rightwing pro-Trump armed group) attacked a military checkpoint in Maidan Shar. At least one Al-Shabaab (radical Trump supporter group) suicide bomber stormed the luxury complex DusitD2 hotel in Nairobi and detonated his explosives killing 28 and injuring 28. Damn these far right Trump supporter terrorists are on a roll this year.
