Super helpful! I'm designing and fabricating a backpack prototype. The comments from the store perspective about warranty returns for smaller AquaGuards is very sobering. Good to know that the the larger AquaGuard zippers have greater endurance and that you have loaded up bags that have AquaGuards without failure. Also good to note that they turn a curve better than the VISLONS. The look of the AquaGuards works better with my brand, but I don't want load up my customers with zipper failures so am considering the VISLONS as well. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for this information. I thought the Aquaguard coils were better than the molded! Learned something new on the Tube today.

Great info, thx. I used a fannypack everyday and currently I am using a MountainSmith fannypack which the zipper always seems to separate in less than a year of daily use. The zipper is YKK 8RCz. Most stores than sell fannypacks do not ha e a large selection of brands as well sizes of fannypacks in the store so I end up buying online. Since u seem to be partial to the Vislon zippers, do u know of any maker of fannypacks that uses Vislon zippers?

Hello, which would be a more durable zipper if my choice is either a 10mm coil zipper or a 5mm molded zipper? Thank you!

Coil zippers are actually stronger and easier to repair a misaligned tooth, vislon zippers tend to work allot better in waterproofs because the slider is traveling over the teeth rather than the tape this means your not wearing the PU layer and you get to run other the smooth nylon rather than the relatively sticky PU, you see failures in smaller sized coil zippers for the simple reason that small zips suck, they cant make small vislon zippers so you never see any where near as much failure in them. This being said Vislon zippers are not the be all and all they can chip with leads to a dramatic irreparable failure of the zipper depending on how bad the chip is, you will never experience this with a coil zipper as teeth fix them selves, coil zippers though are on the other hand more open to abrasion on the thread if faced out or the tape could be abraded this would also cause irreparable failure of the zipper.
I'm assuming most of the warranties are the a from the slider separating from the coil which is actually a very easy fix to do at home if you go about it right.

Unfortunately, most outdoor clothing brands still use coil zippers.

ThreeHouse - that is my fault. I migrated our email system last week to a new provider and had several problems. Email should be back up and working now, but we missed emails for 2 days last week. Please try again, or give us a call on Monday. Thanks! Craig
