Oh god, thank you sooooo much. I have literally spent hours on this freaking Jeep Wrangler zip that I couldn't undo or do up. I needed a Valium until I had a thought to look on the wonder of TH-cam. Bless you and all your children, and your children's children.
Perfect instruction! Thank you!! Had to cut off the top stop (it's a plastic zipper), and rather than leaving just one stop, made a stop with thread. Thank you!
Thank you for everything. I had a broken pull and the splits situation. Each step you mentioned was vital to me. I purchased a new pull, followed your steps, and now can use my favorite jacket again. THANK YOU
I just fixed a 35yr old Barbour jacket that had sat for over 20 years with the zipper misaligned. I did one thing differently though. Instead of unsewing the tops, I used the same side cutters that I used to take off the end stops to nick the bead that the end stops and the teeth are crimped over. I did it right up at the top just before where it is sewn under. Just a little nip and that enabled me to get the sliders off and back on. There were a few frayed threads, which I trimmed off and you can't even tell looking closely.
Thank you so much for making this video! I just fixed my husband’s favorite and warmest winter jacket! This video was a lifesaver as he’s leaving on an ice fishing trip in northern MN!
AMAZING. Thank you so much. It's wonderful to be humbled by how easy something is to fix if you just find the right expert. Thank you for such a wonderful explanation. If I ever need zipper parts, I'm getting them from you. I've got two nice winter coats I can now use again!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I just fixed a zipper that was broken for months, and I can't wait to wear the garment again! 👍💯
Thank You! 🙏 I was finally able to fix my sleeping bag zipper. After much frustration, I was about to toss it when I found your video. Awesome, clear and straight to the point instructions.
Using your technique, especially setting the slider "mouth to mouth", really helped me fix our sleeping bag zipper. No more splitting open in the middle of the night!
Perfect - needed the "mouth to mouth" info! Learned something new [about that tool] in terms of where on the tool to crimp the stops back on too. Nice job!
I had a sleeping bag with a two-way zipper that wasn't aligned on the bottom. I watched your video and in less than 20 minutes I had fixed it. Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much, I just repaired the zipper of my coat with your help!! I needed this video and the other one about why you can't convert a double to a single. I'm so happy! Great video, straight to the point, easy to understand. Greetings from Hungary!
OMG! This video is brilliant! Thank you so much for posting it. I had a slightly different problem in that my 2 way separating zip wouldn't separate at the bottom. The zips worked fine in their own individual direction but I had to step out of the jacket. Somehow at some point, I misaligned the zips to close the jacket. I used the principles in this video to take the zips off to reset the bottom and now, it works again!! Yay!
Thank you! Great video, worked for me, I had seen other videos where you need additional sliders or some sort of slider like thing, but you really gave me the solution I could do. Amazing!
Thank you for this video. I had a double sided zipper on a very expensive winter coat and somehow one side shifted down one tooth. Which meant that I could not open the coat fully. I took it to two places which claimed they could not fix it. I watched this video and fixed it myself in about 20 mins.
Thank you for this video. I was about to beat the crap out of the zipper on a $500 leather Harley jacket! No BS. So thank you. A bit harder to do with this style and toughness I guess. But once those stops came off, all worked like. Charm. I'll be sporting my old jacket again for another 15yrs!
Thanks a bunch, I hav had a jacket hanging now for a few years, trying on and off to fix the zipper with no luck. Found your clip and less than five minutes later - hey presto! Again - thanks!
Thank you! Worked really well on the zip of a Barbour jacket, very heavy duty brass; just needed a little muscle to loosen the top stops. 5 minute job!!! Diolch yn fawr iawn.
This helped me fix an expensive Barbour jacket. No need for anything other than remove the stoppers, play with the 2 sides of the zip until the alignment of the teeth was perfect then replace the stoppers. Thank you very much for your helpful video.
Thanks for this video. Wife has a jacket with the 2 zippers. It got jammed and before a I found a couple youtube videos how to replace to remove them off I broke both. I bought some replacement sliders and I couldn't remember both zippers slide onto the same side. What a pain in the butt. Good thing I bought a kit with different sizes. She's never buying a 2 zipper jacket again! Thanks
Thank you so much for this video!! My Columbia jacket had this problem and now it's fixed! Hooray! You saved me over $100 (if I had had to replace it) Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks for the video! I had one side of a pant zipper come out of the track. I had been trying, unsuccessfully, to get it back on. I had no idea the stops came off. That was what I had to do to get it back on.
Thank you! My zipper separated from the bottom, there is only one zip piece, but I think this will work! Really expensive dress that I love - happy to be able to fix it without replacing the zip!
I finally found a solution to my exact problem! Question: Rather than removing the stops at the top (it's more daunting on my jacket), why not pry open a larger gap in the mouth of the slider to remove it, then put the gap back to normal after re-assembling?
While that could work, I'd caution that opening the slider mouth could cause problems down the line. One thing is it will weaken the slider and could cause the slider to not zip the sides together because the slider mouth is not clamped down enough. Another potential issue is that when you open the slider mouth and then go back to clamp it down, it could break the slider completely. Working with the stops is less of a risk and also could be easily repaired by sewing a stop in. Hope that's helpful.
I loved this video, it was very helpful. My question is, how do you fix a two way zipper on a tactical bag? My bag has no stops on the bottom of the track on either side. Where the tracks meets the bottom of the bag is the stopping point for the zipper.
awesome thanks!! my brand new REI sleeping bag has this exact problem and there is about a 0.5 inch misalignment. What i dont understand is how the heck did this misalignment happen in the first place? I have only sleep in this a dozen times and have no idea why is did this! Thanks again
Good video. Thanks. Quick question: 2 sliders on a two way separating zipper, and I have to replace the slider at the bottom. Is the bottom slider exactly same as the upper slider? I bought 2 upper sliders, wonder if I can use it upside down. Thanks.
Most often the bottom slider is different because it needs to accommodate the pin and box of the zipper. You can try to use the 2nd top slider, but you may find that it'll be too tight when zipping up your garment.
Is it possible to add an additional zipper to a jacket that only has one? I have a smaller waist and bigger hips and I often search for jackets that have a double zipper so I can let some of the zipper up at the bottom. (Came to this video because I saw a "double zipper" in the description). Thank you for these videos! Loved the jean zip fix!
This was very useful, thank you. But what about plastic zippers? I have this problem with a plastic double slider zipper so I don't think I can remove the stops and put them back, I think I will break them. Thanks for your help!
Brandon Todd Yes it would have came a great app and a lot to play but overall a fun app but the best game ever app and it does what you can use for the iPhone 📱 is an awesome 👏 of play on your iPhone 📱 is an awesome 👏 for a great 👍 game with no problem at least he was not as bad and it is not as glamorous phai please come out the app on a Sunday and the other one ☝️ the way it works as the new way for me and I love ❤️ that it can do so many different types to do with my iPad or
Was about to pull the top stops out (which were plastic, would have to be replaced by something else since I can't crimp them back on), but then realized I could get both zippers mouth to mouth at bottom and take one side out, then feed it back in aligned. Might not work on all zipper types but still worth mentioning that it might be possible to fix without altering anything. This was on a Marmot sleeping bag.
god bless u, i was about to drive home, break out the pliers and then look online for some metal stops bc mine were plastic too. u saved me thank u so so much edit: forgot to mention, after reading ur comment, the problem was fixed within 10 seconds. 😭🙌🏼
the one of the double slider zipper broke , so I used another one ( thanks to your videos give me the idea) to zip, but the the zipper can't close off and the teeth opens at the start(or the end?) since it's an open end. How to fix that??? or any other way to fix the zipper? Thank you again! I have to wear this long winter coat to survive the cold Canadian winter!

Lately, when I stick the end thru both sliders, I can see it come out the bottom slightly... the zipper zips up but if I move certain ways or sit down, the zipper starts separating from the bottom upward. Great instruction only problem the stops on top may break or they are really hard to get back on

Thank you! Removing the top zipper stop just saved my Eddie Bauer super-heavy coat on a day the temperature is near zero. ❤️👍🏼
Thank you!!! I was able to buy a $450 jacket with a broke zipper for $50 thanks to my newfound knowledge!! Fixed it and it works great.

You really helped me. Mine was a double zipper but I used your technique and and figured out the extra step. Thanks! (May 29, 2023)

same as below. This video just saved my very nice LL Bean sleeping bag!
Easy and clear footage, thanks.
Are the both pulls exactly the same size and shape?
Thank you for that video. Infixes my jacket.. jeeeyyy. I hate to through away good stuff and that really helped me!!
Thank you! Just a note: It was a nylon zipper so just removed the stops and when all sorted, added thick stitches to create a new stop!
You're a lifesaver, mate. Cheers.
Thaaaaaank you!!!! I was able to fix my coat bc of your video.
Mine is plastic instead of metal.I guess it will not work the method you showed. Is there anything I can do? Help!

Thanks dude. You saved me a good ski jacket.
Oh and Thank You for your most clear information!
This was very useful, thank you. But what about plastic zippers? I have this problem with a plastic double slider zipper so I don't think I can remove the stops and put them back, I think I will break them. Thanks for your help!
Thank you so much! You saved my jacket!
This is brilliant - can I use this method to change my coat from a single zip to a double?
I would like to know this too!
Amazing! I would not have figured this out on my own. :)
Brandon Todd I just ripped my jeans and I only have one to where and the zipper won't work

Happy to help!
So clear and exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Nice adjustment. Thanks for sharing additional ideas! 👍

Can you convert a single separating zipper to a double (2-way) separating zipper using the same method?
How do you fix it if you have this problem with a plastic zipper?
Thank you I have repaired the double zip on my best long jacket.
Thank you so much! I was able to fix my son's new jacket without any unstitching :-)
i fixed my sleeping bag zipper thanks to this video Thank you
the one of the double slider zipper broke , so I used another one ( thanks to your videos give me the idea) to zip, but the the zipper can't close off and the teeth opens at the start(or the end?) since it's an open end. Pretty cool, I'm going to give this a try on the rear window of the soft top on my Jeep.
Were you able to make the repair?

Clear and concise. Thank you!

This is great. But what if it's a nylon zipper? If the stops at the top are nylon, not brass, they aren't going to bend like metal, are they? This was a great vid. Unfortunately my pin has ripped off which prevents my second zipper from engaging at the bottom. Maybe I can kludge something up as an impromptu “pin” before having to replace the whole zipper. (?)
