@@YHSToyAnxiety i created this check out my custom kenner ecto 1a would appreciate the feedback 👍🏾 th-cam.com/video/ukyw4EFUIGc/w-d-xo.html if you guys wanted one let me know ill hook you up made 3 just need to program the message boards ✌🏾
I had a ton of these toys as a kid, including the fire house. I would stage crossover events, like GI Joe meets Ghostbusters, or TMNT vs Ghostbusters. Fun times.
That’s something I’d love to know! Why did they stop producing the toy line? When you saw them in 93/94 where they new shipments or left over stuff on clearance?
As I understand the 1991 ending of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon on television along with sluggish toy sales (Playmates Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line was out selling The Real Ghostbusters at this point) is what caused Kenner to cancel the toy line. Had some of the ideas such as Egon's Lab playset and the Fire Frighter been thought of sooner, I am sure that we would have seen them produced. Had they gotten made, I defiantly would bought them. Kenner as a company was also not making much of a profit at this point, and before 1991 was over they were purchased by Hasbro and operated as a subsidiary of them until 1999. Looking back at the Real Ghostbusters toy line, I am still a little puzzled that we did not get more toys that were tied into Ghostbusters II apart from the Slime Blower (called the Ecto Charger in the toy line) and the Ecto 1 A. I am sure that action figures of Vigo and the Ghosts from the film would have sold really well. Also, going from the artwork on the box for the Ecto 1A toy(where Peter Venkman is sporting a Ghostbusters II logo on his uniform) the Power Pack Heroes action figures were originally going to tie in Ghostbusters II. Yet, when these action figures arrived on store shelves, the no ghosts logo was the standard one. I am glad that a fellow fan is producing action figure sized Slime Blowers and selling them on Ebay, since I really wanted these back in 1989.
I’m pretty sure the guy seen in the pictures of the Matty Collector Ecto one is the former Mattel Brand Manager Scott Nielich (sp?). He has his own TH-cam channel Spector Creative. If asked he might be willing and able to provide some insight into what happened with the Ecto 1?
Great video, love seeing anything real ghostbusters 😍👻
When I was a kid I always wanted a RGB vigo or janosz as that nanny ghost figure but for me that fire truck would have been cool
Ghost Janosz, yes!

I have seen the glow copter once back in 99 at a comic shop by Greenwich village NYC...should have gotten it😩😩😩
🥺
Wow. Sad we never got the Egon playset, but the fans are doing the best
I remember the Matty Collector Ecto-1 fiasco. I reckon that was pretty much the nail in the coffin for the Mattel Ghostbusters line.
I wish more people would makes models of unreleased toys so that someone with a 3D Printer can have access to them.
I remember seeing RGB figures and accessories at Toys'R'Us as late as 1993-94.
I don't understand why they had to stop making them
