Wow your ponds and koi are amazing I can imagine the camera does the fish no justice. I bet they are easy 3 times bigger in real life than what they look on the camera.

Hi James , why don’t you look at the pull out screens your mate had to keep the sunlight out, come in different sizes and colours for a reasonable price 🔨🐇

Hey James over here in Australia we can get plastic patio blinds for outdoor patios. We have a 14 meter deck on the back of our house that overlooks my wife pond. We have the blinds rolled down over winter as it gets cold over here and up in summer as it gets bloody hot . You could look at something like that so you can roll them up in the hot weather and if they are down you can see though them to look at your koi.

    Top video James
Great that you took the time to be open about the issues you’ve had
I’m still building mine but Matt from GRP Linings would tell you what mines like
it’s 3.5x2.5mtr and about 1.75 deep I have a spin drifter bottom drain 4” middle drain and a prototype 4” skimmer Matt kindly sorted out for myself.
My returns are 2” three of which come in at one end (top middle and bottom) and a 4th 3/4 along the pond below the window at 45° so it’s helping the vortex effect of the bottom drain. As for filters I have a profi drum combibio 30 set up so at full tilt I can clean pond water every 30mins or so also have a air source heater
As for waste I have purge valve on bottom drain pipe all 4” so as I can keep pipe clear, it’s linked via a y pipe to the waste from the filter which then flows into drainage system at man hole so as can be flushed if needed
I’ve been thinking of having a bakki shower on the back of the pond too but in two minds (I did have the foresight to have a 18” gap between pond and fence so I can get to everything if needed 😉👍🏻

Great video. Wondering what items have you bought or built that have ended up being pointless or not worth the money?
