Logan, glad you received the cultivator teeth. I figured they would be better used by you than sitting in my shop. Instead of throwing out those imperfect tomatoes, maybe you can sell them as canning tomatoes. That condition is called green shoulder (although my mother used to aptly call it mustard top lol). The red pigmentation production is affected by the heat when the temperatures are around 90° or higher so those tops will never turn red, but the rest of the tomato is usable for making canned tomatoes, sauce, salsa etc. That does mean there is a fair amount of waste to them, but at least if you sell them as canners, they're not a complete loss and people can get some use out of them.

I'm glad y'all had a good day at the market Logan. Sorry about your tomatoes. We've been in a full on drought here for nearly 2 months and I'm having a lot of problems with blossom end rot in my tomatoes. I addition to no real rain, we've had several 95 plus days on top of it.

I ordered some of those German Ruby's green tomato seeds a few years ago. They are absolutely mouth watering. I made fried green tomatoes and people wanted second helpings.
I used to buy garlic in a jar. Now I get it at the farmers market. I like to roast mine and add butter and make fresh garlic toasted bread in the oven. You are 9 hours away from me or I'd be at your farm store and load up. Nice video, thanks.

Try putting a couple of industrial fans at one end of the high tunnel and leaving the doors open. This should help with reducing the temperature.

The tomatoes w/the yellow shoulders are likely affected by sun damage. It's actually referred to as 'yellow shoulder'. Also explains why the fruits underneath the foliage aren't showing this physiological disorder.

I wish we had access to a farmers market here.. we used to have one on Wednesdays at Hillcrest Mall but they don't do that anymore.. :( Don't know why they stopped, it was really busy. We have many Mennonite farms just north of me. They produce good stuff also. I miss them. If I could drive I would go up there. I prefer locally grown produce to imported stuff. I've heard it said that it is healthier to eat things grown in your area, more compatible with your body? What do you say Logan, have you heard that as well? God bless you all, you work so hard every day.

Thats a shame that you are throwing out a bunch of tomatoes that didn’t ripen properly, especially when there is still lots of usable flesh on each one that someone that cans would love to have.
Why can’t you put a couple of fans in that high tunnel to help circulate and cool the air? A lot of high tunnel growers do that. Its better than letting a lot of your tomato fruit go to waste.

    • @munchkin5674

@@daveklein2826 Might be, but it’s still a big waste, when you know that there are folks that would make the most of them, like a homeless shelter or a local soup kitchen, etc. Sometimes, and as expensive as produce is for many in need, it would be nice for market farms to make gestures like that. Not saying that have to do it all the time, but occasionally they could.
