A pioneer woman! Very proud of this lady I had a black female head teacher who was from Barbados back in 1997 - 1999 and it definately shaped my self belief and understanding of determination... well today I learned that Yvonne Connolly is the headteacher who paved the way for my head teacher Marva Rollings... 🙌🏾🙏🏽

What makes me sad is when people of your own community call you a sell-out instead of congratulating and supporting you. This is why we have stayed where we are

That's exactly what the majority are = ⛵ Outs. Your kinds only success in life in bowing down to the brad's & becky's. It's very pathetic & the very reason why your kind is globally Conquered til this day. Smh, 🤦🏾‍♀️

What a marvellous, lovely lady and clearly a great Teacher too. 1969 doesn't seem that long ago and in many ways we have progressed since then, but in others we have not. I hope that she is an inspiration to Teachers no matter their ethnic background.

Eloquently described, the memories still clear and profound. Thank you Ms Connolly, you are a martyr for the black british race; and a beacon of light giving direction and guidance to many who face these same issues today. Bless you.

The sad reality of any success is that, there will always be people who either want you discourage your enthusiasm or sabotage your work. She seems so lovely.

Thank you for sharing this! We need to make sure that people are aware thatbpeople like Yvonne Conolly exist. Part of the problem is we have not been aware of the rich Black British history we have! Let's change that now. Let's educate ourselves and others.
This is the first time I have heard of her, and that is the sad reality for many.
We need to tap into our rich history to get the inspiration that has been missing, and take it to move us forward.
    Wishing everyone the best.

A great Role model, not only for the Black women and men but for all the humans ... we limit ourselves when we do not fight for what we believe... My respect for Miss Yvonne Connolly, you are an Inspiration

15,051 views and only 341 likes???????? What!! ?????????? 😱 This was something for all well adjusted and civilised Brits to actually be proud of. Btw this is not a 'woke issue' it is a basic human and civil rights issue. Woke ideology is based on people who have made a divergent lifestyle choice for the most part. Choosing the colour of your skin is not a matter of choice just plain old biology of human beings with regional variations in their genetic/hereditary make up. Thank goodness and truth that Almighty God does not judge people by the colour of their skin but by the goodness of their hearts and their deeds. RIP ❤

    What a wonderful lady.
On a related note on a black-white divide we should remember the human race originated in Africa. In fact, a light colour skin is relatively new on an evolutionary scale dating back 6 to 8000 years. Compare that with the time span of Homo sapiens species- hundreds of thousands of years.
