Oh my god I LOVE Broken Hearts and Everywhere and Anywhere. Especially the end of All’s Fair and THAT scene. Also, THE ACTING! Jacob Dudman is SO CONVINCING as eleven and Saffiya is incredible as well. Valarie Lockwood might be my favorite Big Finish companion of all time.
“Sins of The Flesh” is incredible. Possibly the best Cyberman story I’ve heard so far on Big Finish (somehow I’ve not listened to Spare Parts yet, despite being a listener for 4 years) and easily the best Cyberman story of the Smith era. Love the “conversion therapy” angle and that final scene with Lisa’s parents was FANTASTIC. Great to see a companion’s sexuality being properly represented, coming off the back of Amy and Clara.
The last story is interesting because its swipe at so called 'conversion therapy' also could be taken as a swipe at AA too (which makes sense, as it arguably acts as a pseudo-belief in structure and its belief that it is impossible to beat alcoholism isn't scientifically accurate) Edit: amongst every bunch of conservatives you'll find 'moderate' (and even actual moderate) religious people caught in their wake; caring about what they believe in but feel like they need other people to fill in the grey areas (or for others to tell them that there aren't any grey areas)
I think that all four stories are in the running for my favorite Big Finish story of the year. SO good and so powerful. And I think that BF have had a pretty strong year overall.
I wasn't sure about this range beforehand as it seemed pointless without Matt Smith. I've really enjoyed the Boxsets however and will be sad to see it finish
